    L. Shake (5.99) R. Burnout Burger (9.99)
    Victor G.

Hyphy Burger recently opened in a vacated Kentucky Fried Chicken store. Everything Everywhere all at once the decor & ambiance resembled what the lst location exuded. Organized & owned by various people in the community, they founded Hyphy Burger as a place their community could enjoy healthy fast food. Rapper Akeem Hayes, local food influencer Bay Area Foodz, local entrepreneurs brothers Fakri & Zaharia Alwajeeh joined with Julian Ervin to open Hyphy Burger. Hyphy is the default loud music one hears upon entering H.B. It was created in Oakland decades ago. Location and seating smaller than Grand location. Proposed drive thru not operational when I went. Offerings: smash/pastrami/vegan burger, fries, stunna shakes, drinks, mini donuts.. Bites: Burnout burger (9.99) ready in 7ish minutes -2 small beef patties with crisp edges, juicy innards covered with pepper Jack and American cheese, grilled onions, lotsa banana peppers. Feel me sauce, jalepenos within 2 toasted buns. -so deliz with every bite. Slurps: Stunna Shake (Oreo-5.99) -came 12 minutes later at different location than burger. -very thick & sweet shake with many pieces of Oreo cookies. Seems added sweetness added. *difficult to hear numbers called out due to Loud music. 5 stars Worthy! Quantity/Quality: Great Value!

Looking for a place to eat on the intersection of 98th and International in East Oakland?! You can't miss this restaurant when you pass by it, because its exterior is all bright colors, with HYPHY BURGER tagged in loud yellow paint across the side. There's also a refurbished minibus parked out front, tagged with more phrases, including HYPHY, GAS BREAK DIP, YOU FEEL ME, and more. This place definitely looks like a burger joint with a drive-thru, mercifully eschewing the barren design aesthetic that has ruled us for decades now. Walk in the door and you'll be greeted with a dining room that's spare and yet boisterous all at once. Hyphy Burger feels like a neighborhood quick-service restaurant where everyone knows everyone, which gives it the correct ambience for eating a hamburger in the sloppiest possible fashion. After looking at the menu, I was now ready to order & chow down! (and I only had ordered a burger & a soda) LOL! Burgers at Hyphy come one of only two ways. You can get a regular Hyphy Burger, complete with two patties, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, grilled onions and "You Feel Me" sauce. You can also get a Burnout Burger, which adds jalapeños, peperoncini and pepper jack cheese to the proceedings. Apart from the requisite fries, there are no other add-ons or sides offered, so don't bother asking for bacon or frizzled onions or any of those other goodies. You get what you get at Hyphy. It's that kind of place. So what's the hype with the Hyphy Burger if you may ask? You can say that it's a customized double cheeseburger. The two patties were smashed down on the griddle, greased with American cheese, and then stuffed inside a potato bun that looked pre-squished. Don't let that deter you - as I customized mine by adding lettuce, tomatoes, and grilled onions - messy but hefty. If you know your burgers, you know that sloppiness is a feature, not a bug. Try it out for yourself, and know that this is worth the hype!

Son wanted to try this trendy spot. There are two locations this one just opened recently and the original first one is in West Oakland. This particular one your navigation should make you exit the Hegenberger exit from Nimitz 880 freeway which is about one exit from 98th avenue exit Oakland Airport. First of all on International and East 14 th this is not exactly your safest place but the building sticks out like a sore thumb . Once you're inside it's like a 360 degrees transformation so clean an pristine no litter everywhere bathroom are for customers only etc. I felt safe inside eve though there was not a security guard . They have a drive thru but we decided to come order inside and get the real vibe. Not busy at all one person ahead of us . One hyphy burger loaded fries and fruity pebble shake. Son loved it. I like the fact it's close to Oakland airport which I frequent a lot drops and pickups. I was really surprised by the training and professionalism of the two young employees we interacted with. On the border of San Leandro which is much cleaner area. I would pass coming here late at night just for safety concerns. I did see a lot of cops patrolling so we did feel safe. Also Ghirardelli is a few miles is you want a sundae without going touristy SF. They nailed it with the color scheme school bus logos and artwork. 5/5

Love that they're continuing to expend in East Oakland we needed a good spot like this !!! Service was nice & understanding - they were out of the drink i wanted & gave me a shake w/ no up-charge. Ambiance was pretty chill i just wish they had a few more tables like at their other location just bc it's gonna get packed fast later in the day. Their milkshake & donuts were so bomb!! the cereal bits they use are not stale at all & you get a good crunch Burger was so juicy and flavorful & i'd for sure come back

I think it might've been a bit undercooked... I don't think I would try another one unfortunately. I think I would also stick with the sweet bakery items moving forward. I also ordered a lychee strawberry matcha milk tea (with the oat milk option) and I was pretty happy with that purchase. Overall, I wouldn't dock them more than a star for the underwhelming pastry because most of the others are excellent. It might just be that savory isn't their thing...

I also ended up taking my sister so she could see what vegan food is about. 1. My sister had the breakfast burrito. The breakfast burrito was an absolute texture nightmare, the coconut rice was gross and mushy, the tofu was completely bland, the random spicy curry sauce was unblended & completely overpowered everything. Just really one of the worst burritos I've had in my life. She couldn't get past two bites before throwing it out. I also bit it, and I agree with everything my sister said. 2. I got the tempeh reuben sandwich and it was equally bad with bland soggy fries. It was edible and I finished half of the sandwich with a ton of hot sauce but I threw out the other half. I legitimately could not finish it. I think king oyster mushrooms would be a better substitute for the "bacon". 3. The donuts are AMAZING & deserve to stand alone. The lemon one was absolutely incredible. If I would've only purchased the donuts I would've given Donut farm 5 stars. There's a price range from $3.00, $3.50, $4.00, and $4.50. I think they're reasonable prices for how good they were. The only one that was okay was the chocolate coconut. In conclusion, the food needs a lot of work. I know this is a small business, but please taste the food that comes out . The sandwich was $18 and the burrito was $16. I never complain about the prices from small business owners because I love to support but it was expensive for the quality of food I received. The service was also okay, it felt like everyone was stressed lol, I'm not complaining bc I know we all have our days but this was my first time at Donut Farm and I wish my experience would've been more pleasant so I'd be willing to give it another chance.

The pickles had a nice crunch, and the "meaty" parts were savory goodness. Would def get again. The summer rolls come 2 per order; using a bit of lettuce of separate them was a nice touch. Slightly preferred the savory "fish sauce" especially after I soaked the jalapeños in it. The peanut sauce was a little sweet for me so prolly would have enjoyed more with some chili sauce. Don't get me started on the apple fritters, which are the size of a dinner plate and loaded with soft, spiced apple chunks. It's hard to restrain yourself from ordering one of everything, especially because they really are cheaper by the dozen. Besides, when was the last time you had a bear claw? Or a maple bar? Or a Boston cream doughnut? Further complicating the final order is the incredibly kind owner, always at the counter, who's liable to throw in a free doughnut hole or two to reward such enthusiasm. Though it's impossible to resist the colorful magnetism of the front display, don't gloss over the other half of the shop's name. Soy-based gelato is made in house with rotating seasonal flavors, offered by the scoop or wedged into an outrageous doughnut sandwich assembly. I can only speak for the eggnog flavor which is of course long gone at this point, but I truly hope it makes an early come back. The flawlessly smooth, creamy texture is better than almost all prepacked options scooped out of a carton, and possibly one of the best in the bay. It may get overshadowed by the deep fried delights, but you won't regret topping off your treats with an extra frozen spoonful... Well, unless you've already eaten your weight in cinnamon twists. Not that I'd know anything about that.

Ordered the Okonomiyaki Danish (2), Green Onion Croissant, Yuzu Meringue Bun, Croisubi and a Matcha Latte with a cream top (forgot the name but some sort of coconut flavor). Out of all the pastries I ordered, the Okonomiyaki Danish was my favorite and will 100% reorder whenever I find myself in this area. The flavors, filling, uniqueness - everything about this was delicious. The other pastries were good but I was slightly disappointed with the Croisubi which is their version of a ham & cheese croissant but made with Spam. I be wrong but the Spam didn't taste like actual Spam but one of those Spam subsitutes. It wasn't bad by any means, but I was expecting the distinctive and salty taste of Spam. The pastries were all really good but I do not recommend the matcha latte for individuals who like their drinks slightly sweeter. They use a decent matcha powder but even after adding the extra cream top, my overall latte was 5% sweet. Not sure how when cream tops usually balance out the matcha taste with a bit of sweetness. But for some reason, the cream top here had barely any sweetness so keep that in mind if you order the matcha latte. I actually saw a guy who ordered a matcha latte before me come back inside the bakery to ask why it had no sweetness.
