I brought in a shirt to be shortened and it came back not matching the measurements I gave them. I referenced another shirt to make it a similar length but after picking it up, it ended up still being noticeably longer. I essentially paid for a service they didn't fulfill. I went back and one of the workers told me they'd fix it free of charge (amazing!). Came back the next day and they wanted to charge me again for their mistake (less amazing!). Worst part is the guy trying to charge me again told me it was my fault because "I gave the wrong measurements," even though another shirt was used to take the measurements. He wasn't even the person who took the measurements or the person who tailored it (I know because he told me someone else comes in to tailor stuff). Also, this place charged about $10-15 more than places nearby. Other shops quoted me $18-25 and they charged me $35. I don't mind paying more for good service, but paying extra to get blamed for their mistake is a not my idea of good service. I rarely feel the need to write these reviews but this experience was just especially bad. Avoid :) read more

Was a loyal customer until the last 3 times my clothes have come back worse than before. A $1,100.00 Ann Demeulemeester shirt brand new came back with brown stains on both shoulders and a $600 CDGH+ shirt came back with blue pen on the shoulder (I don't use blue pens). I would prefer if they were honest and admitted their mistakes, but there's always some denial. Avoid. Spend the extra money elsewhere. I have not ever worn this Ann shirt and now it is unwearable. read more

Just a bad place; don't go. I brought in medium sized cushions and was shocked when they said $50 but it's conveniently located so I decided to give them a chance. This is the best dry cleaner in Los Angeles at the best price ever. The service is incredible and they can even clean shoes. The staff are respectful, quick and incredibly fair about their pricing. At some point, I'd stopped going to the dry cleaners until I found this place. It's insane what some other places are. Alterations here are easy to get with good quality. Prices are a little high but you do get what you pay for.

Be aware the will attempt to overcharge you for fluff and fold. I suggest weighing your self before and compare the weights. I pad almost $50 for a grocery size bag of fluff and fold. Absolutely crazy pricing. read more

BEWARE!! This dry cleaner scammed & overcharged me after we agreed on a price! A few weeks ago I came here to pick up a UPS package since I wasn't home when they attempted delivery and they rerouted it here. The owner here assisted me. At the time I was wearing a Gucci track jacket. He complimented me on it and asked which designer it was. I told him I wanted to get it dry cleaned & asked him what he would charge me. Since it was "fancy" he said he would charge me $15 for it. My other dry cleaner, Hillhurst Cleaners, charges me $11.50, but I wanted to test them out since he said he could do a day turnaround time. I went to pick up the items today and the price for my items were $43!! I spoke to him and told him that he agreed to $15 and it's not fair to bait & switch me on the price. He said it's Gucci, it's an expensive designer item and they give "extra care" which is BS. It's totally fine to charge a million dollars if you want to, but what's not fair is saying it'll be one price and then charging me something different without my permission. I even brought my other dry cleaners ticket and showed him the "fancy" upcharge was $6 versus $4 for a T-shirt I brought - where this place charged me $11! He definitely sized me up and thought he could rip me off. To boot, he even tried to make a backhanded comment he doesn't know if they are authentic or not, but they offer extra care and charge more & these are his prices. He gave me $3 off since he saw I was upset. But again, what's messed up is agreeing on a price and then deciding you'll charge more without my permission. The fact I would have happily brought my items here & now will be warning others to avoid coming here so they don't get ripped off too!! read more

I've been going to Hyperion Cleaners for exactly 20 years. The staff has changed several times, but my experience has remained the same, and I have only wonderful things to say about the place. They have never been late having my things ready. On the contrary, they often have them ready a couple of days early. Plus if I need an item cleaned or mended right away, they always accommodate my request if they possibly can. And that happens often - I usually put off going until it's an absolute emergency. The tailoring work is impeccable. They have repaired moth-eaten cashmere sweaters so the holes are invisible. They will always explain if and how the repairs will show. They have told me several times about clothes I've had for decades, "There are so many holes, it isn't worth the cost." And did a great job when I said it was worth it. They've hemmed dresses and pants; they've removed stubborn stains. When one pair of pants were still too long after being taken up, they made the alteration for free. I don't go there often now since I don't have a have a job which requires formal clothing. I hadn't been for a year until yesterday, two days before Halloween. I needed my son's costume pressed because it arrived late and totally crumpled, and also the shoulders needed to be taken in because it was too big. I came in, pretty panicked, at 5:15 and asked if I could possibly have it done by the next afternoon. They said the pants could not be ready that soon but the other pieces and the tailoring would be fine. I was so relieved. But to make things even better, I got a text at 6:19 saying everything was ready for pickup! And one more anecdote that shows the care they take with clothing: ten years ago I bought a raincoat in Paris and after a few months took it in for cleaning. The manager said, "You can't dry clean this. The waterproof coating will be ruined." I sighed and pointed to the label in French which said it could be dry cleaned. He promised me it was wrong. I insisted. He begged. I insisted. After the next rainstorm, the coat was totally waterlogged. I took it back to the boutique in Paris where it was made, and the designer said oops, we put the wrong label on this. read more

I have had great experiences with this place especially when they've done alterations. The woman who does the alterations has now altered several beautiful and expensive garments for me and she's done a beautiful job. It's not cheap but so worth it! After searching for a decent place I can trust, finally found one. The owner was very friendly and most importantly my clothes came out looking clean and nice. I thought the drive thru was so cute yet smartest thing ever. I went to pick up on a rainy day and it was great. Although parking is not an issue, using the drive thru at a cleaner sounds fancy to me. I usually pay when I drop off my clothes and here they give you a discount which is great. Small things add up so it was perfect for me. I think if you prepay with cash it's like 5% off. Location is perfect. Easy to find. I definitely recommend here. read more

Three stars for in-house services. Alterations and dry cleaning have been acceptable, with a few small issues I can overlook. But I will never go back to them for anything they have to send out. I took my flocati rug that has been in the family for three generations for drycleaning. Rugs are sent to another facility to be cleaned. My rug was lost for at least two months!!! I thought I would never get my rug back, and although customer service was polite, they couldn't offer me any answers as to where my rug had disappeared to. The situation turned out OK...they called that my rug was found, and gave me 50% off the cost to clean the rug. I will most likely return to Hyperion Cleaners for my general drycleaning needs, but I will not risk taking any send-out jobs to them again. read more

This was a fun learning experience.. I took my dress here to get it altered. At first I had a very good impression with the lady that' was helping me out. She seemed very sweet and I felt like they would do a good job.. Long story short, they told me it would cost me $150 to fix my $50 dress, even though it only needed a few adjustments. So I decided to go across the street to check how much they would charge me. They asked me for $28. I can't believe I was almost about to spend $150 to completely ruin the dress that I had. I'm upset that that these people were trying to rip me off and not to mention take more than a week to fix something. I accidentally spilled red wine all over a friend's white linen throw pillow. I took it here the next day, not hopeful the huge red stains would completely come out. But 2 days later, I picked up the pillow in PERFECT condition as if it were brand new. The pillow also had intricate beading on one side, and none of it was damaged during cleaning. BEWARE! I was a Hyperion Cleaners customer for years. I dry clean 15 to 50 pieces at a time, so I'm that annoying guy who takes forever to drop off and pick up items and makes you wait. Eventually, they started to take my stuff and just fore go the unnecessary step of counting up, identifying and ticketing my orders. I was very happy and they did a great job. This last few/bunch of weeks I noticed my favorite shirt was gone. It was a very rare, designer, polo style shirt from a few seasons ago and not a lot were made. Last week, I went in to pick up a typically large order (almost $200) and drop off another large order (about 18 pieces or so). I meant to ask the owner about my shirt and request that they see if it was, perhaps, misplaced. SO GET THIS: I walk in and one of the staff members IS WEARING THE EXACT SAME SHIRT. He's a smaller guy, so the short sleeves (stretched by my own arms) were stretched and his arms were are obviously swimming in them. NOW, I can't 100% sure it was my shirt, so I didn't say anything. But I will NEVER go back, and either should you. In my heart, I know that was my shirt. GO NEXT DOOR, down the street, anywhere else. I never minded that they are expensive and mysteriously raised my prices many times, and I don't want that shirt back. Ever. But if there's no trust or integrity it negates any possible upside. I am a chronic Yelp user, not so much a Yelp reviewer. That should be an indication of how strongly I feel about this place. Fellow Yelper Amy T. said it best: "This was my go to cleaners for a long time, but sadly I just can't support them any longer." I took my clothes in on a Tuesday morning and asked for 1-day service because I had a flight to catch Thursday morning. I came in Wednesday night as instructed and was initially impressed with the speed of service. It didn't occur to me to smell my clothes before I left, but I was in a rush to get home and pack. It was when I got home that I noticed my clothes reeked of a strong odor. It was combination of bad body odor, ammonia and street tacos. It was HORRIBLE. I figure I'd just hang up my clothes and it would air out by morning. It didn't. I called the cleaners and I asked them what I could do to get rid of the smell since I had three hours until I had to get to the airport. He said to bring my clothes back in and they'll dry clean it again. NO, FOO'! What part of "i have a flight to catch in three hours" don't you understand?! He then advised then I steam them and the smell should go away. I should have known better. I steamed just the pieces I needed for my trip -- it intensified the odor. I would never wish this odor upon anyone, not even my worst enemy. I called my sister over to help me take the clothes back while I went on my trip -- she kept gagging trying to hold the clothes. When I was away, she told me that she had to hang the clothes in the garage because the putrid stench of poor quality dry cleaning filled the house. The cleaners were "nice" enough to dry clean them again and reimburse me for the few pieces I took with me on my trip that I had dry cleaned at my destination. But get this -- they must have dry cleaned my clothes multiple times the second time around because all my silk shirts and cotton dresses are FRAYED. As in the fibers and threads are sticking out like vintage clothes you'd find at thrift shops. The worst part? MY CLOTHES STILL STINK of chemical. WHAT. THE. EFF. Not worth your money. Not worth your time. Go next door instead. You had a good run, Hyperion; but maybe it's time to shut down your dry cleaning operations and stick with alterations instead. Because that's what you did to my clothes without me even asking for it! :'( read more

In keeping with the zeitgeist, I decided to be more frugal and attempted to launder my dryclean-only items with Drycleaner's Secret, one of those at-home "drycleaning" kits. Now, these kits are indeed fabulous, not just in theory but in practice. That is, for people who I imagine are far more fastidious than I could ever be with regularity, even if my life depended on it. Though I've used these kits in the past without any mishap, unfortunately this time, I experienced firsthand what it means to be penny-wise and pound-foolish. Let's just say that I spent nearly an hour with half my body contorted inside the dryer to scrub every single millimeter free of melted gobs of an entire tube of very, very, veeeeeeeery red lipstick. For once, I thanked my official midget height and uttered curses at my ardent love of red lipstick. But praise be to Hyperion Cleaners! I sing paeans to their excellence! To their very existence. Were it not for them, I'd be out not only $58.95 in drycleaning + $1.00 in "drycleaning" but in fact the sum I shudder to imagine that would be necessary to replace prized wardrobe staples. (And frankly, I was completely, pleasantly surprised by the price tag. I had anticipated a far more painful figure to be appropriate to the task since each garment required repeated individual laundering.) Hyperion Cleaners managed to remove scarlet smeared into or streaked all over - and I mean all over, so much so that the good folks at Hyperion were utterly stunned and even daunted by the prospect of having to restore - garments of widely varying fabrics and textures, such as a fine cashmere pashmina, a rayon multi-color graphic skirt, a suit jacket, a velvet jacket, a silk shirt, wool trousers, etc. Though daunted they were, they did it! They came to the rescue! Now, were it not for a missing tube of lipstick and this review, none but I, the good folks at Hyperion, and you will ever know the #*&(*)^#!@#) I swore at my penny-wise, pound-foolish scatterbraininess.
