Let's just say I've come a long way with my fitness journey thanks to Anthony! I have always struggled with wanting my body to look a certain way, and I was a cardio and core girlie who was never consistent. I realized I needed some type of structure with my workouts and I didn't know where to start. In 2021, I messaged Anthony. He scheduled a few 1on1 sessions to work on form and programmed me through an app. He will always check in to see how the workouts went and ask if he needs to make any changes to your macros or plan. He's very knowledgable with his training and can back it up with science/research :) After a few years of training with Anthony, my mental health has improved, my confidence grew, and I feel stronger. I live in Daly City and I commute all the way to San Jose just to see Anthony, but it's ALWAYS worth the drive! I also met a few people who commute 30+ minutes just to see him, too. In addition to 1 on 1 and private group sessions, Anthony hosts boot camps throughout the year and I look forward to those days because of the community at HSC. It's fun being around people who want to see you succeed and push yourself, while being safe. Thank you Anthony and HSC for providing a fun and safe space for people to reach their fitness goals!

I like the trainer & this gym workout. We had a group workout today & I loved it a lot because I didn't feel that I workout at all. Austin was making our workout fun. He made the workout like a game & fun, such as hitting a 10lbs ball, tapping the yellow light, rolling a weight ball, etc. Austin is a friendly & fun personal trainer. I would highly recommend this gym because you will have fun while you workout at the same time

Still smiling after!!! :)

Had a team workout at Hyperstrength and LOVED IT!! :) it did not feel like a workout, it was friendly competition, and focused on self improvement. Austin & his crew are awesome! I definitely recommend this place!!!

This is a special review for Anthony Perez who helped me and my gf with our workout this morning. I've never done workouts that consisted of strength and conditioning that targets every point of the body. Anthony is very informative and highly educated about the human body. He doesn't pressure anyone in going beyond their boundaries and that's exactly what he did with me. Since it was technically our first time, he made sure to take it a bit easy. My gf and I got to work on mostly everything. From different sets of lunges to chest workouts, jump boxes, TRX workouts, stretches that focused on different parts of the body, more. It was a circuit workout that had four different workouts and a repetition of 2-3 times. At the end, everything hurt; legs and glutes were sore, shoulders and chest sore, etc. Throughout this whole workout, Anthony was very supportive. He made sure we were doing our workouts and stretches correctly by checking our form and posture. He's patient in every way and that is a great sign of a caring instructor. This gym has lots to offer! It's private and gives you this intimate setting which creates a personal space between you and the instructor. The music in the background helps with some motivation and gives you that extra push. I also like the Marvel comic decor all around because it's fun and not uptight like most gyms. Thank you to Anthony Perez once again and Rachelle Dudero for everything. My gf and I had a great time overall. We had lots of laughs and worked out like a family. I highly recommend getting a workout from Anthony. He's very motivational and definitely will make you feel better about yourself at the end of the day. Thank you so much Ant!

Ask the Community - Hyper Strength and Conditioning

Do you offer women's only groups?

One of our biggest programs are Semi-Private Training with groups between 2 to 4 people of similar goals. When people create these group they tend to workout with their spouses, family or friends. Its up to the group themselves how they want to…

Stationary bikes at the location?

We will soon have some airdyne bikes!

Has anyone who identifies as fat trained here? If so, can you speak to the fatphobia present (or not) in this space? Ie. Is the training centered on 'losing weight' versus being healthy/ being strong etc

Great question! People definitely identify here as the typical "Fat Powerlifter" and we have people who genuinely just want to focus on getting strong and being a beast in their own regard.…

Do you provide Yoga and cardio kickboxing? Also, late classes for those two?

We provide Yoga at least once a month and currently working on providing more times. We do Cardio Boxing once a week at 6pm on Tuesdays and may implement Cardio Kickboxing in the future! Most of our classes for conditioning are around 6pm or 730pm!

Even on days we don't train he'll give me pointers, offers to spot, and give corrections to make sure I stay on track. WESTCA is a great place to train. After a few meager attempts to get into an exercise routine, it became clear I would need to pay someone to kick my proverbial butt on a regular basis. I was excited to find a gym with such consistently great reviews nearby, and WESTCA absolutely lives up to the hype. I have a decent amount of experience with lifting and resistance training, but I also have some physical limitations, so the semi-private training format has been perfect for me. It provides the structure and accountability I was looking for while still meeting me where I am in terms of experience, fitness level, and physical capability. I've been training with Ivan, who consistently brings good vibes. His instructions are clear, he's quick to adapt exercises around physical limitations when needed, and he progresses training safely and thoughtfully with encouragement along the way. Progress has been steady, and I love feeling stronger and more energetic. As many other reviewers have mentioned, WESTCA is a smaller gym with a welcoming, low-pressure atmosphere. It's the kind of place that makes it easy to stay consistent. If you're looking for a gym, WESTCA is an easy recommendation.

My 2 concerns I would like to bring up to management are: 1. Not a single upgrade in years. Machine selection stays same. All smith machines are occupied by ladies doing hip thrusts, why not install proper machine for that and replace some outdated ones nobody is using ? 2. Phone policy. I know it's a stretch but I have tight schedule like the rest of us. Waiting for equipment takes insane amount of time as some people come to gym to sit in their phones. Management should enforce a no phone in sight policy or limited time per machine. It's ok to check phone here and there but not play Pokémonns or watch YouTube Hope you guys can take this feedback and take a proper action

Wow! I should have read the reviews first about this place, but the reviews make sense. If I could…read moregive a zero I would. I joined City Sports Club on Brokaw because I was genuinely excited to get back into shape. Unfortunately, what should have been a positive experience quickly became frustrating, discouraging, and emotionally exhausting, thanks to Sam, Richard and Mari. From the beginning, nearly every interaction felt like a sales pitch. I signed up for a gym membership, the Pilates add-on, and personal training because I wanted professional guidance and support. During my training consultation, Richard, the Director of Training, promised nutritional guidance, including calories and macros, a workout plan for the days I was not meeting with a trainer, measurements, and an assessment. When I arrived for my first training appointment, Richard appeared unaware of why I was there. My trainer then asked me many of the same questions I had already discussed with him, which made it seem like there had been little communication. The workout lasted approximately 25 minutes, which had not been explained when I signed up. When I asked about the nutrition and workout plans I had been promised, I was told that the trainer did not know me or my form well enough to provide them and that I should do any exercises I already knew. This was incredibly discouraging because I had specifically signed up for personal training because I needed guidance. I left feeling deflated and devalued as a member. When I raised my concerns, I received conflicting explanations, little accountability, and repeated promises that someone would follow up. I had to explain the same emotional experience to multiple employees (a total of 5 times), yet calls were repeatedly not returned. The most disappointing response came when I was told that they "usually do not issue refunds because of an experience." This was not simply a change of mind. I joined with every intention of using the gym, but the services and guidance used to sell me personal training were not provided as represented. After the poor communication, unfulfilled promises, and dismissive handling of my concerns, I no longer felt comfortable returning. The only person who made me feel genuinely heard was Rod. He listened, apologized, and showed empathy when no one else had. I truly appreciated his kindness. I joined because I was motivated and excited to prioritize my health. Instead, I spent my first two weeks dealing with sales pitches, contradictory information, poor communication, unfulfilled promises, and repeatedly chasing people for answers. I am still waiting for a resolution and the full refund I requested. I am posting this in hopes of a resolution, as it seems every attempt I have already made comes with repeated excuses and promises of follow-ups that never occur. I am the one who has to do the follow-up. I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking City Sports Club to acknowledge how poorly this situation was handled, honor the full refund I requested, and allow me to move forward without continuing to chase employees for answers.

I thought I had hit the jackpot. Turns out it wasn't busy for a reason. Where do I even start. A huge chunk of the cable equipment had no weight pins attached, and I mean easily 98% of it. If you don't bring your own pin you simply cannot use any of it. On top of that several machines had their cables cut entirely, so they were completely out of service. No pec deck machine either, which is pretty standard at every other gym I've ever been to. And the free weights don't go low at all. The lightest I could find was around 22.5 lbs, so if you need anything lighter you're out of luck. I've been to a lot of 24 Hour Fitness locations over the years and while they're not always perfect, they at least have functional equipment. This location was genuinely the worst I've encountered. The gym itself is a beautiful big space which honestly made it even more frustrating because the potential is clearly there. It felt like such a tease walking in and realizing you can't actually use most of what you're looking at. I ended up cutting my workout short and leaving. This location needs a serious revamp and fast.

When I tried booking it through the app, I selected it on the drop menu, but for some reason it didn't put it for me. When I got there, the instructor told me I had to pay for the socks, but I could email the manager to see if I could get a reimbursement. So the class and socks ended up costing me 40 bucks (18 for socks). For some reason the label said $14, but I was charged 18. Not sure why. First impressions - The instructor seemed nice, but the intro was literally 5 minutes long and then you were on your own. When I started at orange theory, the coach constantly checked in on me to see if I was okay and that made me feel better about starting a new workout. Honestly, I felt like a fish out of water. I had to keep looking at the other girls next to me to see what to do because the instructor was throwing out instructions and unfamiliar terms to me at the speed of light. Also, I could tell the handle bar slack was uneven, but after my friend mentioned that hers was too to the instructor, she said "oh" and that was it so I didn't speak up either. The workout - Man, this burns so good. I thought I would be prepared for it with a year of Orange Theory under my belt, but my body was not ready for it. I can see why it's such a good workout. My legs were still shaking 30 minutes after. I would be up for another class in the future. Just need more exposure to the terminology. Overall it was a great workout. Maybe not the best for someone that is completely new to it, but you got to start somewhere.
