Disappointing. I asked for an almond latte (I specified almond syrup, not milk), I received my drink and drove away. The drink was incredibly hot so I did not try it until I reached my destination. I'm not sure if she didn't add any syrup at all or if she used almond milk, but the drink was not an almond latte. It's disappointing to pay $5 ($4 plus tip) to get a drink I took two sips of. Not sure that I'll be back. The barista was friendly though. Update: After leaving my initial review Josie (the owner) reached out to me and offered a $10 gift card and an apology for my experience. I went back today to try it out again.. I ordered a strawberry, watermelon & lime redbull. The barista didn't ask me what size or whether or not I wanted cream or whip cream.. the drink is ok, but not my favorite. All in all great customer service, but not my favorite drinks. read more

This is my ultimate favorite coffee shop in Anchorage for a drive thru shack. Although this one isn't really a shack its super nice! I love that my M-F Barista is there at 6 and she knows me by my face and not my car, as her comment one day was "you have been in three different cars in the past week". Her "Salted Caramel White Mocha" is to DIE for! Pile on that sugar, its hard for me to stay away! Every 11th drink is free with there punch card. $2.50 Lattes for happy hour between 2-5 maybe 2-4? Unsure....but thats super cheap! They aren't open on Sundays. Make sure to come down A Street to Fireweed (On left side, next to arctic office supply), if you come down Fireweed towards Spenard your going to have to make a U-turn at C Street (pain in the arse). If your coming Fireweed towards Seward you can just hang a right. It will be make life easier if you just take northern lights to A street, even if you have to make a circle. This is there only downfall, great corner, horrible one way location. read more

Drink was just okay, overpriced for how little espresso actually went into the latte. Service was average. Not friendly, but not rude. Might come back if I was in a rush as it's on my way to work, but wouldn't seek it out intentionally. read more

Update:6/18 I've been stopping here occasionally again after the owner messaged me and let me know they were working on upgrades and changes. I really appreciated the message and decided on a second chance. Things have gotten better and it's now a delicious , efficient cup of coffee perfect for morning commute or an afternoon coffee run. Check it out and see for yourself! I used to stop here daily for myself and weekly for my team. Unfortunately, the past 6 months both the product and the customer service have gone downhill. The last two times I stopped in the middle of the day I had to knock on the window after a couple minute wait to get the baristas attention as she was engrossed in her phone. Once my americano tasted like it had got pepper in it and the other times, the lid wasn't on properly and leaked all over my coat. I drive 5 minutes out of my way now to go to another shop. It appears many feel the same way as Hyper Bean always had a wait and I've have yet to drive by and see more than one car in line. I will give it another shot in a month or two and see if they have done some training! read more

We went to Hyper Bean because it was on the way home for us. The prices for coffee seemed like a lot. Their latte was not very good. Their mocha was okay but overpriced. The only thing good about this place was that the service was very good. We made pleasant conversation with the barrista as she made us our drinks. The only reason this place wasn't a 1 star was because the girl was very nice. Also, just a heads up this is just a very small stand, not an actual shop. read more

Some of the baristas are nice some of them aren't as nice. I tried going here for 2 weeks, but I wasn't impressed. One day I had a free drink on the punch card they gave me, so I asked to use it and they punched it and still charged me for the drink. One morning I asked for a bagel and I wanted it toasted. I got my drink and I had to wait an extra 3 minutes for the bagel to toast up, so I got the bagel after waiting and it was still cold and did not have any golden color to it as if it was not toasted at all! There is only one person working at a time (at least when I went) but there is two windows, not that it's ever busy anyways. 10/10 would NOT recommend. read more

Traveled to Anchorage for work and after two days I missed my coffee stand at home and Starbucks was not cutting it. . Passed this stand and decided to try it and am so happy I did. Very friendly and the two drinks I had were perfect ! Will be back next time I am in town. read more

Still my favorite place to get coffee when I'm in midtown. Super friendly staff. I ventured out and tried the Reese's and the Oreo Frappes and they are AMAZING! They now have Happy Hour from 2-5 and it's a $1 off any drink. Now, I try to come as often as I can to partake in this goodness. read more

The ownership has changed recently and it is very disappointing to see that customer service is suffering greatly. First, the new owner refuses to accept gift cards purchased before the ownership change. While I understand the immediate cash flow burden accepting them would cause, the previous owner said that it was part of the contract that they would. I have about $5 on one card left that I purchased for myself. In addition, the previous owner was accommodating to preferences. I am sensitive to lactose and use heavy cream (which is naturally lactose free) in my espresso drinks. The previous owner always had heavy cream available and said several of her customers liked it in their drinks. I was told that the new-and-not-improved hyper bean would never carry heavy cream. Finally, the general rudeness of the staff is what made me decide to not buy from this place anymore. It's too bad for me and them as I bought my morning coffee there 3-4 times per week. read more

Here for a vacation that was cut short, but after being introduced to this place by a frequent addict, I have come to love their Pumpkin Spice Latte. The drink is on par of the Alaskan gods, far more superior to Starbucks PSL which is comparable to Walmart's version of Pumpkin Juice. However if something sweat ain't your cup of sugar, try the coffee, black plain and simple.
