As an adult, I honestly can't recall a time I've had the police called on me... until this morning. With this weekend's anniversary of George Floyd's senseless murder, it's not lost on me how quickly situations like this can escalate. But it didn't. And for that I'm grateful. "She's being disruptive and yelling at customers." I pulled up to Hyde Bark Doggy Daycare this morning at 8:59A to drop off my pup. I have a slow leak in my tire so I'm on the phone with the dealership to figure out my options. Gary S, staff person at the business, opens the door and now at 9:00A begins to tell me that I'm late for the 7-9A drop off. Not, "you got here just in time!" or "You need to return for the 10A drop off!" but you're late. And goes on a full out rant about it. A very unprofessional rant. At this point, I'm a little uncomfortable... doesn't feel like a place I need to leave my pup for the day so I ask if I'll be refunded. He responded no. I asked to speak with the owners but he closes and locks the door, telling me that he's giving them a call. I asked if I could speak to them when he gets them on the phone. He again responded no. So now we're talking between this glass wall/window and he says, "You're yelling!" Ummm... sir. We're talking through glass -- how else am I supposed to communicate? I get his name, leave the business and get in my car to now figure out how to address my flat tire. As I'm sitting there, I see a couple other owners bringing in their dogs. One I recognize from pickup and I'm talking to him about what happened. Then Gary S comes out and says to him, "I just called the police on her. We don't like to have our customers involved in these situations." Situations?? The customer leaves for work but asks me to keep him posted on how everything goes. A 2nd District police officer pulls up and I explain what happened. He shares that Gary S called them saying, "She's being disruptive and yelling at customers." Luckily the officer could see this was total BS and stayed while I was able to put air in my tire. He was great. He also spoke with Gary S who confirmed that he never actually heard me yelling at any customers. So why again were the police called on me? Did I threaten someone? Was I unruly, banging on the glass? No, not at all. Perhaps somehow, some way I just LOOK threatening. And that's disappointing. And scary. I'd hoped that the owners would have reached out to me after I both emailed and left a message in my account to have someone call. Or heck, just because staff felt the need to call the police, you'd think they'd want to know what happened. Right? But no, they immediately terminated my account and said nothing. I've only been using Hyde Bark for a couple of months and had nothing but great experiences with the staff up to this point so this completely blew my mind. And many of you reading this that have heard me rave about them would be surprised as well. But I'd heard some interesting stories from other potential and former clients and NOW I get it. Hyde Bark is a huge NO for me.

We took our golden retriever River to Hyde Bark Play Park about once a week for the past two years and utilized pet boarding about 5-10 times per year, with the best employee Bri!!! The constant updates and pictures of our dog during the day and on our weekends away were so fun. At one point River had a wart fall off and was bleeding and they quickly notified us and took care of it very well. The employees and owners (LeAnn and Brandon) were all so nice and quickly got to know us by name and asked all about our lives and plans for the weekends. We are so sad to move away and leave the community! Here are some pictures of our dog smiling her face off at daycare and with Bri, which she doesn't even do at home :)

We've been taking our dog to the Hyde Bark Play Park since it opened and can't say enough good things about it! The staff there is really knowledgeable about dogs and how to read their social cues which keeps our pet safe, happy, and engaged! I can tell they really love her like she's their own dog (even though she is a handful!!). The space is always clean, orderly, and organized and the staff & customer service experience is fantastic. Pics of our agent of chaos below sent to us from the Hyde Bark staff (plus many more over the 2 years!)

Hyde Bark has provided amazing care for our two year old golden retriever during our time in Chicago! River has loved her days at the play park and her overnight boarding with various Hyde Bark employees. The staff is always polite, friendly, and informative and the owners, LeAnna and Brandon, have always been a pleasure to work with and have even hosted River at their house for an overnight boarding. The owners saw a need for pet care on the Hyde Park and have stood up to provide the community with a primer pet care service! Hyde Bark will be one of the things we mist most about Chicago as we move from the city!

    Moose and his buddies

Moose loves going to Hyde bark play park! As soon as we turn the corner he tries to start running toward the door because he is so excited to play with his friends. The staff is always friendly at drop off and pick up and they make sure to tell us if he is ever having any issues. We are so lucky to live so close to such a great doggie daycare!

If the owner attacks a "soon to be customers due to legitimate concerns (see below), would you want them caring for your pets???? My correspondence/concerns and the owner's response versus reassurance are below: Me: I have to be honest, I am VERY SKEPTICAL of the level of care your business will provide, based on response to my initial inquiry that took 3xs+for a response in my most recent correspondence for a request for care schedule to be changed...where it is clear that the email I sent with regards to this request in change of schedule is "titled" change in scheduled visits and you are asking me about if and when I want to schedule services going forward???? My concern is this...if you don't read thoroughly nor respond to emails in a timely manuner, will you "really" take care of my babies. I will touch bases with you after I do more research. Later today... My neighbor and who both referred me to Hyde Bark "admitted" they do not respond in a timely matter NOR do they pay attention to emails. They apologized for leaving this part out AND wil be caring for my fur babies. After my surgery I will being spending A LOT of time sharing with folks after the election the FARCE (of acting like they give a "f"about your pet) Let's get this party started. I shared "keep my keys" and no response. Most responsible, reputable businesses would have issue with this, but LeAnna doesn't give a ....Poor reflection of her business even if we had a disagreement. Unbelievable. Response from.... LeAnna Quartuccio Owner Hyde Bark Dog Walking I want to make sure we have the correct dates for your kitties care and if asking for written confirmation on alternate dates needed is viewed as not being attentive enough I apologize but again, I want to be certain we have the correct dates. We care for over 100 local pets a day and have never in 5+ years missed an appointment or had a complaint about the level of care clients' pets have received. I believe that is because we are thorough and want to be sure we have schedules and information correct. I absolutely agree and apologize for the initial miscommunication! We were indeed overwhelmed that week with a sitter being admitted to the hospital under very serious conditions and we were not as attentive to new client sign ups while worrying about our sitter and taking care of our current clients. Based on our correspondences and the frustrations expressed thus far, I do not think we are the right fit for your needs and I do not think we should move forward with this relationship. I suggest reaching out to Out-ugo, Second City Pet Care, or perhaps a private sitter from a site like Rover.com. Best of luck to you and I am sorry we failed to meet your expectations. Best regards, LeAnna Quartuccio Owner Hyde Bark Dog Walking Last and not least they wanted to return MY KEY at "their" convenience. I told them to keep the key. I am getting ready to have major surgery I don't have time for all of this foolishness and I am STILL IN DISBELIEF with OWNERS response. Hyde Park is a small community Hyde Bark. Wait for it....certain the reviews were solicited or sent by friends and family. I cannot be the ONLY person that has had concerns based on your unprofessional response. You got top stars EVERY time. True fact, I use to work for Yelp, it is unlikely, based on my experience with you and working at Yelp that your reviews are factual actual and/ or not solicited. The odds of that happening is very rare based on what I know. Word of mouth is a......

Hyde Bark owners and walkers are simply wonderful. Our rescue pup Rose was their client for 2 years before we moved out of state. They are reliable, professional and *just SO loving** to our dog. Even though Rose can be a handful on the leash, I was always reassured that she was in good hands. Lyvonne was our usual walker and she took good care of both girls (we adopted a second dog). They are also available for special services! We had Rose walk the aisle at our wedding and Brandon & LeAnna transported her to the venue and back home (plus walked and fed). Our wedding wouldn't have gone smoothly without them! They also gave us a picture of Rose in her wedding swag.

The highlight of day is getting photo from Hyde Bark!

I brought my dog here and was very excited to support the business. I'm sad to report that before I…read more even paid, I knew we wouldn't be back. Red flag #1: Bark N Bubbles is a crate free environment with no requirements to provide vaccination records. Crate free is cute for dogs who need to socialize, but providing vaccination records should be a must for every owner. Red flag #2: I dropped my dog off at 9:30am with DJ, described how I wanted him groomed, and she told me it should take about 2.5 hours; so I planned to pick him up at 12pm. I got busy and realized 12:30pm rolled around and I hadn't heard anything. I called and DJ said my dog should be done around 1pm. I arrived at 1pm and that leads me to... Red flag #3: My dog was on the hair cutting table unattended and whining while the groomer (who WAS NOT DJ) corralled dogs back into the grooming station. They told me my dog needed another 30 minutes. I waited for 43 minutes for a total of 4 hours for this grooming session. It has *never* taken my dog 4 hours at any groomer. Red flag #4: The groomer cut my dog. He said verbatim: "He did a really good job. The only thing is he got startled and the razor cut him a little bit. He didn't bleed and it only looks bad right now because it's stretched out." I'm curious to know what startled my dog, and whether it could have been the fact that the dogs are groomed in the front of the store where other dogs are free to roam, bark, and play. They also do it right by the front door, so literally anything could have startled my poor dog. I would like to add that when I arrived, I did not speak to my dog excitedly nor did I stay within his field of vision. I sat in the back, out of sight, and the groomer even commented, "I don't think he knew you were here" before telling me about the cut. Red flag #5: I dropped my dog off with DJ but when I came back to pick him up, DJ was nowhere to be found. I'm glad I arrived when I did because I had to tell the groomer how to cut my mini poodle's fur. I thought groomers knew to leave poodle tails a little fluffy but maybe that's my mistake for assuming. My frustration is really with the fact that I explained to DJ how I wanted my dog to look, and DJ wasn't the one grooming my dog. The other dogs in the salon were stressed out, which I was able to observe for the 43 minutes I waited for my dog. They are understaffed, which was clear by the way the front desk employee left a dog unattended on a table as well so that she could help another owner. I am a human and this entire process stressed me out. Imagine what our dogs could be feeling. Please do better Bark N Bubbles. The 2 stars is for DJ's friendly energy and that is all. Overall I'm extremely disappointed.

I only had him for a short piece of time and had necessarily built up a network for him yet, so when my boss sent me on a week long business trip I was freaking out because I hadn't necessarily secured a dog walker or boarding services. I reached out to several places and none of them were able to take my dog on short notice. I did have a conversation with another service that actually excepted my job but last minute totally flaked less than 24 hours before I was due to board my plane!!! I called Aimee in a full on panic! I let her know what was going on and she immediately came over to my house to assess the situation and feasibility of my job. She had several other things going on but due to my circumstance she took my job and executed it flawlessly! My dog was boarded at my home but she came by twice a day to clean his enclosure and take him for walks. She did so as contracted. I have a camera in my basement so I was able to see every time she came over in the exchange and she treated my dog so wonderful!!!! That meant a lot to me.
