    Poe reporting for training.
    Lauren H.

We've used See Spot Run for two of our very different dogs. Most recently, our Newfoundland Luna, she attends daycare multiple days a week. Having worked at a dog daycare myself, Ruth's team is the only one I trust. I love knowing my girl is having the time of her life, playing with other dogs while being monitored closely by trainers equipped with extensive knowledge of dog behavior. I never worry about something happening due to negligence or "sorry I was on my phone." I know Luna is safe, cared for, and happy. We also used Ruth to help us train our very leash reactive Neapolitan Mastiff, Poe. We've worked with a few trainers back in Connecticut and her methods were the most effective when it came to his reactivity. Ruth taught us, not only how to navigate walks in our neighborhood and at parks with Poe, but foundational skills to work with any dogs we may have in the future. In a place where dog daycares are a dime a dozen, Ruth, and her team at See Spot Run are the real deal.

For the record, Ruth, the owner reached out to me after this posting. I stand by my review but appreciate her concern.

We've been tremendously pleased with the training staff - in particular, Coralyn - and the kennel staff.

Along with her wonderful family and staff, she has gone above and beyond, and I can't thank them enough. When I first adopted my two rescue dogs, Clark and Addison, I had no idea what I was getting into. They were only 4 months old, extremely anxious and reactive, and I thought they couldn't be around other dogs or people. I wanted them to continue gaining exposure, especially while I was at work. Thanks to daycare, their social skills improved tremendously. I remember sharing with Carolina how I was concerned about them not having any exposure to children. Carolina's children would visit the daycare, now I can have friends with children visit. I always worried they might have a bad experience and regress, but I never had to worry about that while they were in daycare. Now, I can walk around my condo with ease, greeting neighbors and their dogs, and the boys are great with new dogs. Furry Paws has truly made a positive difference in their lives.

I was over 6 months pregnant at the time I begged to take them in (for 8 days), and days later, I realized the Samoyed and Corgi were a lot more work than I thought manageable. If I were on a Zoom meeting, the pair would have me cut it short. If I stepped out to grab groceries for dinner, they'd scratch my doors and cry for the entirety of my absence (according to my neighbor down the hall). Worst of all, the Samoyed sheds... A LOT. I like an ultra tidy home. A few days in, I called my friend (dog owner) to let her know they were much more than I was willing to deal with. She understood, and informed me her dogs get dropped off at VIP's Pet Hotels on a monthly basis when she's tending to her economic research. She was ready to pick them up and drop them off at this hotel. Instead, I called the hotel, and got a hold of Danielle who was so gracious to wait for my arrival that same evening for a drop-off. I was easily able to drive them over, drop them off, and have them well taken care of for a few more days. Due to COVID: They request that you do NOT bring soft toys from home, dog beds/blankets, or dog bowls; instead, simply pack the dogs' food and treats and they'll be ready to tend to the dogs upon arrival. Timo and Paul were so excited to see Danielle. THANK YOU VIP's Pet Hotel!

I unsuccessfully searched all over the city for competitive daycare that wouldn't break the bank. VIP is by unequivocally the most affordable and accommodating. I LOVE how easy it is to communicate with them via text instead of missing another email or voicemail throughout the workday. Golden doodles are known for their separation anxiety, but you know they're in good hands when your dog is excited to go! Winston waits at the door for day care pick up and excitedly sprints when we drop him off overnight. * DAYCARE - They pick up our dog and drop him off even when we're not home. They also pick up other dogs in our apartment complex so if we have a last minute change of plans it's no problem for them to scoop up our little Winnie. Throughout the day they'll send you videos of your dog playing. * TRAINING - Matt made us feel reassured during our consultation and reiterates that they don't accept clients who are not committed to maintaining training. We opted for the board and train, but they offer classes as well. * BOARDING - it's a huge facility, so we never have issues with drop in boarding. The only thing that is a little tricky to get used to is the drop off and pick up windows - there's only 3 a day, but if you're close enough they're flexible.

They want an influenza vaccination, but my dog gets sick with her vaccinations and that one is not required by anyone else. I'm not going to risk her getting sick. I also couldn't take her to this kennel when she was less than a year old, because they required her to be spayed before the doctor recommended it. The doctor wanted her to wait until she had her first cycle, but this location required it even before that. I appreciate that they care about the health of the dogs, but I don't know how they can require things that go against the veterinarians recommendation. Very disappointing- we would like to be regular clients.

So I took her back for a second time, full day. When I went back the 2nd day, the facility smelled putrid. I understand it's an animal facility so it's not going to smell like roses and daisies but it was pretty bad even with a mask on, so ventilation is a concern at this point. My dog came back smelling atrocious. Again, dog facility, she's playing all day, she's gonna get a little stinky. She smelled like she was sitting in a dirty kennel for days, she was only there a few hours. As soon as we got home she went straight into the bath, her smell was offensive AF. Lastly, my baby unfortunately is now sick. Took her on Thursday by Saturday she was showing symptoms :-/ She is vaccinated for Bordetella and Flu, but she still got sick, her lungs sound awful. My dog is super healthy so for her to get sick after her 2nd day, it sucks and scary for me to even board her or bring her back. It's always a risk your dog will get sick just like kids at regular daycare. Would better sanitation/ventilation help? I dunno, maybe? What do I know lol Unfortunately, we won't be coming back Unfortunately, I think anyone that is looking for care for their pup... it's tough and scary to try new places. I think private care is probably the best route tbh after this experience. Take a chance but be aware of what to expect. The other review similar to mine are insanely consistent :-/ Update: I haven't had a chance to update. My dog unfortunately also ended up with skin bacteria resulting in a gross rash on her under belly/side. Fortunately, after some care and creams she healed up fine. Needless to say, not a great experience :-/

She was so approachable, understanding, and really went into the details of what option would best support my tiny fur children. Fast forward 3 months and we just wrapped up our in-home training package with Maureen! I cannot stress how amazing the entire experience was. Maureen has truly changed our lives for the better. Where we started to where we are now is night and day better, especially for my more aggressive dog Luna! We went from no one being able to enter our apartment with the dogs out to now the dogs just hanging out when people are here! Maureen is patient with pets AND people.
