We have taken our dog Sasha to See Spot Run for 8 years -- since she was a puppy. I remember the first time Anne and her daughter came to our home to meet her. Sasha couldn't stop wiggling then, and she still has the same reaction each time they pick her up. She loves going there, and we love knowing that she's with people who take good care of her. SSR has been above and beyond helpful to us too. I once stopped off there to pick up my house key because I'd locked myself out (and Sasha in). Also, they have been flexible with my travel schedule. We have taken our puppy to See Spot Run for day care 3-days per week for the last year. We have also boarded her there on many nights. We had Ruth come to our house for a private training session too. To say we are pleased is an understatement! Ruth and everyone on staff are beyond excellent. They know all the dogs on a level that no other facility does. They treat our dog like one of their own. The real test is how excited our dog is when we drop her off. We came to See Spot Run for guidance in helping our new pup deal with his separation anxiety and fear issues around going for walks outside in the city and are SO happy with our experience! Ruth was incredibly helpful, caring, and patient in working with us, and was able to really clearly demonstrate skills and model interactions, as well as taking the time to answer all of our questions. She took the time needed to help our dog, Rowan get comfortable with her, and was creative with engaging him despite his shyness. Not only do I love the day care, but she also boards there when I travel, which is wonderful since she already knows the dogs, along with Ruth, Anne, Donielle and the other "dog care" providers. If you are looking for the BEST trainers, daycare and boarding, you have come to the right place!! Ruth, Nick and all the staff at See Spot Run are wonderful! They have assisted us with our 2 year old Razors Edge American Bully, Snoop, since he was 6months old. Our first experience with the staff was when Snoop attended Puppy Boot Camp in 2010. I truly feel that if we had not sent Snoop to them, we would still be struggling to train and control his bad behavior. Before we brought him to See Spot Run, it was very difficult and stressful for me to walk him and even try and play with him without him growling, nipping and trying to jump on me. Now, he is MUCH easier to manage and I am finding it joyful to walk him and play. He is doing great around other dogs, especially small ones. He sits before the dogs come up to him and waits until they approach him. On our walks, people always comment on how well behaved he is, which would not have happened if it wasn't for Ruth and her team! We have been through two Basic Training courses, one initial one after puppy boot camp, and then a refresher course earlier this year 2012, which assisted Snoop and myself to re-learn the training concepts and communicate better. Snoop has also attended daycare once a week where he has a blast playing with the other dogs outside almost the entire day! I'm not sure what the other reviewer Tina C is referring to when she says the dogs are in a kennel all day. I've personally stayed at the facility for several hours in the evening, and the dogs definitely have a set schedule for water breaks, meals, and playtime. I have never seen a dog in a kennel for most of the day. Additionally, the package does save you money, and the daycare turns out to be around $25 a day. This is very helpful for Snoop to socialize with other dogs, have some time away from mom and dad (reducing separation anxiety), and keeps his training fresh. The best part is that Ruth is a specialist when it comes to Bully Breeds (aka Pitt Bulls) and knows how to assist you in communicating with these loving dogs. I adopted my pitbull-mix adolescent dog about three months ago, and was in DESPERATE need of obedience training and structured socialization play time. I found SSR online, reached out, and within half an hour was speaking with Ruth (the owner and head trainer) about my concerns. I was able to set up a consultation appointment two days later - much earlier than I expected :) As soon as I met Ruth and saw the facility, I knew this was the place for us to be. I have been taking Sevvy (my dog/little monster) here for the past five weeks for obedience training, doggy day care and boarding. Ruth and the staff are incredibly supportive and knowledgable, and formed a bond with Sevvy so quickly that she started whining to get in the building after the first week! The thing that I appreciate most about SSR is their flexibility (boarding dates/training days) and openness to speaking with me regarding training tips or concerns outside of the training classes. Sevvy always comes home wiped out and more obedient than when I dropped her off, proving that she is getting both play time and instruction. Even though I moved thirty minutes away, I will still be bringing her here as time goes on due to the kindness and support I've felt from Ruth and her staff. Highly recommended! read more

I cannot say enough about Ruth & the team at See Spot Run! Our bulldog Hector will be 6yrs. old this July and has been boarding/attending doggy day care since @ SSR since he was a puppy. Hector is such a loving, happy, healthy dog and we couldn't have done it without Ruth! She has guided us every step of the way and always makes herself available to discuss Hector's care. She also takes all my crazy phone calls when we are out of town and check in on him! He's sooooo good with people and other dogs and behaves so well which I believe is 100% because he participates in daycare and gets his little workout both physically and mentally! SSR is truly Hector's home away from home! We've NEVER had a problem and always feel confident that he is being taken care of -he jumps out of the car and RUNS to the door when we drop him off which is really a big deal because he's a bulldog and doesn't run unless he has to! I really trust See Spot Run with my dog Pixie. I have never had any problems and I absolutely hate leaving my dog but I feel comfortable with them. I have used both day care and overnight stays and I think their staff is great. I don't like the fact that I think he doesn't get much exercise when he's there, which is something I would like to see them improve on as other businesses offer it. read more

This place has the worst customer service skills. Called into make an appointment to get my dog groomed, but that didnt happened but was told to go online instead and fill out a form?.. Okay. Asked why is that necessary to just get a.grooming, he the trainer then mouths off saying that he is not a "receptionist" .. ???? Wow... There are so many gromming places that has so much better customer service.such.as petsmart! this place is a joke! and needs to hire a receptionist that knows about customer service skills! read more

Ruth and her team did a great job boarding and training our dog, Karma. Initially, we wanted our highly energetic, friendly lab to be enjoyable on a leash and greet our guests appropriately. We left Karma with them for 3 weeks and a miracle happened. Upon our return from vacation, we found our dog better exhibit her intelligence, to be well-mannered, and a joy to walk around the neighborhood. We are extremely proud to show her off to our friends, and people often ask if she is trained as a service dog. So happy with See Spot Run and recommend it highly! read more

We had a fantastic experience with our pitbull, Addy, and the Board and Train program at See Spot Run. Addy is a very social dog, but from living in different shelters and receiving no training as a puppy, she developed some behavior problems on-leash and in groups of unknown dogs. Ruth was fair, generous and spot-on (no pun intended) in understanding Addy's behavioral challenges and working with her compassionately to overcome them. When visiting Addy about one week into her program, we were amazed with the level of comfort and appropriate play skills Addy developed with other dogs. It was awesome to see that our dog was learning *how* to enjoy the social interactions she always wanted to be part of. Ruth also gave us ample training follow-up sessions, which helped us implement what Addy learned in our busy Bucktown neighborhood. My six-year-old Brussels Griffon had turned our condominium into a giant toilet and terrorized me every time I left for work in the morning, but there was no way that I could part with him. So after two years or so of thinking it over, I signed the dog on for the life-time guaranteed residential training program. He was actually there for twice the amount of time most dogs would be there; about two months, but he was an old dog trying to learn new tricks. FIrst of all, he probably enjoyed his life more at See Spot Run than he does at home; they have a very well run, clean facility where the dogs have ample time to socialize when not in their crates. He also learned basic obedience. Not an easy task for a six-year-old, stubborn dog. Since he has been home there has been a bit of back slide, but I expected that. Ruth has been to my house several times for private lessons to reinforce with me what Henri has learned. She has an encyclopedic knowledge of dogs and a great rapport with them. Also, his primary trainer Donyelle, was a real pro and guided me through several lessons while I visited Henri at the facility. All in all he is a totally different dog now and I am a totally different dog owner, as Ruth and Donyelle did a great job of educating me about the psychology and handling of my dog. Henri now only does his toileting outside, stays out of our way when we are busy with our baby girls or making dinner, does not beg for food and most importantly is no longer an ankle nipper or a maintenance man stalker. read more

I love ann and ruth. And more importantly, my dog Grace loves them. She literally gets excited when we pull down the street. I started boarding her 3 years ago on a recommendation from a friend, and it's the only place i take her. When i get her back she is so tired from playing all day that she basically passes out in my car. it's amazing! They treat her like they would treat their own, and that is so important to me. Great Service for the Dogs, Terrible Service for the Humans. See Spot Run provides excellent service for the dogs, and terrible service for their humans. I've taken a week to cool down from my bad experience, and I'd like to post a couple quick warnings to other prospective customers. First, note that See Spot Run has no emergency contact info posted, and they don't check their voice mails at night. Second, note that See Spot Run is extremely inflexible in the hours they allow you to pick up your dog. Even when they are in the building listening to you shout and honk outside, they will not open the door - even if it's an emergency. Third, if you do manage to catch them and request an early pick up (say, the next morning, after they refused to open the door the night before), they'll charge you extra for being there 30 minutes early. Fourth, they are not open to customer feedback in any fashion, and will lecture you during the entire length of your pickup regarding why they operate the way they do. My impression of this business is that they are very willing to go the extra mile for anything that involves the pets, but they have absolutely zero concept of customer service and aren't willing to work a minute of overtime for anything that might smooth things over with a ruffled customer. My next dogsitting will be elsewhere. read more
