This company was great right from the start. Called and got a real person who had a team in my area to fix my garage door which had a broken spring. They sent a text when they were 15 minutes out and came within a couple hours. The two guys were younger but knowledgeable and let me know I needed a conversion kit. He got a quote from their office right then and there and told me they'd be back later that day. A couple hours later, 2 other guys showed up (also texting to let me know they were inbound) and got me hooked up in what seemed like 30 minutes. First off, communication (email & phone) with Dan (owner), Jason, and Miguel was on point! For both visits, they called at least 30 minutes in advance to let me know of their ETA. I'd submitted my email to get their online coupons. Pricing was very good and didn't waiver (no upsell, no hidden charges, etc). And the service provided was just what we wanted/needed. We'd been having an intermittent issue with the door stopping a foot or two short. This type of issue can be hard to diagnose sometimes when the issue isn't obvious. I had several back-n-forth emails with Dan (owner) wherein he gave me various instructions on things to check/tweak in case I was able to fix it myself. I'd let him know that I'd replaced the motor etc myself awhile back and that I could likely handle a few basic tasks. I think most garage door repair companies would simply want to send a technician out. It's a business after all. And among other things, businesses exist to make money. So I was pleasantly surprised when he kept trying to solve my problem without having to send anyone out ... and without billing us. In the end, I did ask that they send someone out after I'd exhausted my abilities. During their first visit, Miguel and his brother performed a tune up, checked and adjusted the belt tension, installed new ball bearing rollers as ours were really old, installed the new sensors that I had sitting on a shelf that'd come with the new motor, and lubricated everything. The door stopped again (just once) several days later. So I asked that they come back over. Miguel came by himself this second visit and checked everything out and determined that the problem is likely due to a bent panel section on the door that's flexing a little. We were given a suggested fix but it's just not worth spending the money on at this time. Of course, no charge for this follow up visit. I also ended up having a thorough conversation with Miguel regarding the garage door industry -- specifically the ethics more or less with some companies. We talked about how some companies may overcharge, some may take advantage of folks who just don't know better, some may perform unnecessary services ... all to get a bigger payday. He spoke VERY highly of his employer (Dan) and the team with whom he works. He came across as being proud to be working for an upstanding company that can help people without taking advantage of them. It's nice (and too rare) to hear someone speak so highly of their job, etc. read more

We are very happy with the appearance and functionality of our new door. Our old door was so loud and shaky that it was like nails on a chalkboard every time we opened it. I received just terrible service from this company. I called this company to inquire about having a side-mounted garage door opener installed and having one of my garage doors raised a few inches closer to the ceiling. I basically needed them to install a new opener and to lengthen my side rails. After 2 calls they sent a service technician out to my house. He was friendly enough and he reviewed my situation and promised to call me with a quote "in a day or two". 3 days later, as I had not heard from the technician, I called Hutchins Garage Doors to inquire about my quote. I was surprised to get an answering machine during business hours and I left a message. I waited 2 more days and called again. This time a woman answered the phone, said she was looking at my paperwork, and promised that someone would call me later that day. 3 days later I had still not heard from the technician so I called yet again. The same woman answered the phone and I rather pointedly asked her if they were even interested in this job. She then put me on hold to go talk to the technician. When she came back on the line, she told me that it would cost $5,500 (yes, you read that right). I asked her how it could possibly cost so much and she said "those openers are real expensive". I hung up the phone and pulled up Google. Turns out, the opener I was getting costs all of $320. So they were only charging me $5,180 for labor, I guess. It's obvious to me why this happened. When the technician came to look at my garage, he saw that I owned several expensive sports cars and I could have sworn that I saw dollar signs flashing in his eyes. I have to assume that these people just made up a number figuring they had hit the jackpot. The end of this story? I called another company and their technician came out and quoted me $1,196 for the same job. I guess it pays to shop around. Especially if you're dealing with Hutchins. read more

My garage door broke while I was home alone with my young children, so I was trapped. Hutchins Garage Door was the first repair company that answered my call after trying a couple others. Mr. Hutchins was so kind and sent over a technician the same day. My garage door was not as I had described, so he didn't have the parts needed with him, but he held open my garage door so I could get my car out, and would come back the very next day to repair it. By that time, my husband had contacted our home warranty company who sent over a tech to fix it under the warranty, so I did not have Hutchins complete the work but felt compelled to leave a review anyway because they were so helpful. Jason communicated well throughout our interaction and worked hard to keep my scope of the potential project only to what I wanted it to be (e.g., replacing just a panel and not the entire door). Hutchins installed two new garage doors and header mounted springs in my house in 2009. One of the springs broke, so I called inquiring about the lifetime warranty. Apparently they upgraded invoice systems and had an issue finding me in the system. I had my original receipt, which the tech took a picture of and sent it to the office. Well, they ended up replacing the spring under warranty....I just had to pay for labor. That's great customer service in my opinion, and I'll continue to use them and recommend them to others. read more

We could not be more pleased with the service we received. Dan and Jason came over a few times to check things out (our current door was broken) and provide samples of alternative doors. When we finally decided to stick with our existing door, they were both just as responsive to follow up to fix the door for us, and were able to squeeze us in quickly. The fix job is great - not only were they able to install longer rollers and add grease to keep things moving, but they closed some gaps we had on the bottom to prevent rodents from entering, and re-aligned the whole frame. After my 3 year old closed the garage door as I was pulling out of the garage, the door crashed onto the top of my car. It was in pretty bad shape. It wouldn't even close.
