They did a good job on my roof. They kept their word and did what they said they were going to do.

Danielle and Hector looked at my roof that needs repair and assessed it. They made a really good impression as they were very willing to discuss the work that needed to be done and explain it. I was encouraged by that and looking forward to getting the job done because Danielle told me that they weren't very busy at this time. And that's where it all ended. After 2 weeks of waiting for a bid I got was nothing. I called and Danielle told that she sent the information "to Dad" (Doug) and she'd remind him. Another couple of weeks and nothing. Called again, three times, but kept getting the answering service; left message... And now not even a return phone call. if you don't want to do my job then you should just say so. Being non responsive is a really bad business practice. Hunters Roofing is not serious about serving customers, it seems, in my experience. And all I got out of this experience was a month-long delay in getting my chores started. Thanks for nothing, Hunters Roofing... read more

Doug came over and gave a reasonable quote. His guys showed up early and worked late. They did a good clean up after they finished. Thanks!

Very easy to do business with, after getting a quote Doug was able to answer a few questions I had on ventilation and installation. I liked the fact that they don't subcontract the tear off like other companies, they did a great job cleaning up at the end of each day and they were able to complete the whole job in the estimated time we were told. I am happy to recommend Hunter Roofing. read more

I had a great experience with Hunters Roofing. They were very professional, clearly knew what they were doing, and were easy to communicate with throughout the process. Honest, professional, quality and easy to work with are our experience with Hunter Roofing. We asked quotes from five different GAF certified companies and Hunters came back with the most reasonable quote. Doug was very patient answering our roofing and venting needs and able to deliver without nickel and diming. Sergio, our roofing lead, was as amazing as Doug. When my husband went on to the roof to check on the work, he welcomed him and explained the process patiently. We learned so much from Doug and Sergio. The roof held up to the major rain in February (the one that was the biggest in a decade) so we know it worked :) We highly recommend Hunters to anyone looking to replace their shingles. read more

I'm giving two thumbs up to Hunter's Roofing. Although our experience included a delay between inspection of the problem and getting someone out to patch it, the company stood by their warranty, which we inherited when we bought our house years after Hunters had installed the roof. We had two minor leaks that we had been ignoring for a couple of years, but once we contacted the company, they never questioned that they would take care of it. While it took several follow up calls to get on their schedule for repair, our leaks were not urgent, and we understood the owner of the company was dealing with a health issue. Honest people who take pride in their work. read more

best service, best price and best quality. Mr Hunter even did things for me that was not required for him to do. very professional, friendly and more than fair. best experience. he fixed my roof over 20 years ago and came to fix a leak after 20 years until we decided to change the roof agin. he is the best. his company is the best. read more

Doug and his employees are fantastic. They showed up at a specific time and got right to work. Showed me pictures of the damaged area and took the time to walk me around the house to see the damage. Reasonable. I have used Hunters Roofing before and will use this company again. You can't go wrong with Hunters Roofing. read more

Doug and his team were fantastic to work with. We got quotes from 4 different contractors and they all were fairly comparable, but the communication and professionalism from Doug and his team made them stand out from the rest, and an easy choice. The finished result looks great, and throughout the whole process the entire team was super friendly and great to have around as they worked on the roof. We knew there would be some underlay required and Doug and his team kept us updated on what was needed along the way as they removed the old roof. Overall, very happy with our experience using Hunters and would definitely recommend them to others. Thanks Doug and team! read more

I wanted to wait one year before reviewing Hunters Roofing, so I could give a real world review instead of the excited, "just installed" typical review. Our roof was replaced in November 2020. So it has been just over a year. Because our old roof was Cal-Shake, it weighed tons and Hunter's crew had to work very hard to remove it. They did a perfect job, and also cleaned up very well afterwards. The installation crew was amazingly efficient and fast! All the sub layers and shingles were installed in less than 2 days. And again, cleanup was great. The only unusual looking thing I have been able to find, is that one of the new roof vents was not centered over the hole from the old vent. In the past year we have had extreme high winds, heavy rain storms, and broiling summer heat. The roof has not flinched from any of it, and still looks perfect. My wife and I are really please with our new roof. Working with Doug was a breeze and he was very prompt in answering our questions and concerns. We can recommend Hunters Roofing without hesitation. read more

They were perfect in my book. They gave a reasonable quote right at the beginning and completed the work to the quote in exactly the amount of time they estimated. I could not ask for a better experience. I highly recommend. read more

I used Hunters Roofing probably 15 years ago and they did an outstanding job at a fair price. I needed a small repair and called them. They sent Danielle who was smart, precise and extremely prompt with a quote. Their quote was fair and reasonable and the one difference between their quote and the other roofers we consulted was that they only quoted us for the actual work that had to be done! I found that many of the other roofers wanted to add extra work because the job was small to begin with. Not Hunters roofing. You get the feeling that no matter the size of the job, they are interested in the work and doing the best job possible. I can't say enough about this company. Honest and reliable. You can't find a better roofing company! read more

Talk about professionalism luke and his team Sent us a Roofing estimate through an email that was so detailed with different choices it was really nice that they put so much work into the estimates and he came in a timely fashion to do the estimate from the beginning. Even though we couldn't go with him his prices were reasonable and with our particular problem he gave us a lot of details over the phone and different ideas how to deal with that particular problem and he didn't have to do that it was very nice of him and shows he's a carrying and honest person. If you're looking to trust somebody you might want to go with this company. read more

I had a great experience replacing my roof with Hunters roofing. They were organized and quick - everyone showed up on time every day and Doug was super easy to communicate with. They also coordinated with carpenters and painters to install a skylight, and an electrician to replace my attic fan. All in all one of the easier construction experiences I've had and most importantly, the roof and skylight look beautiful. Very pleased! read more

Simply the BEST Roofers in Los Angeles! Luke and his team deserve MORE than 5 stars for the roofing work they perform! With all the heavy rain we had in Los Angeles lately, my roof unfortunately began to leak and was in desperate need of repair. I called Hunters Roofing and a gentleman named Luke came right over to inspect my damage. Luke was not only honest about the damage, but his rates were extremely affordable and the work he performed was above and beyond with the highest quality materials! (These guys are not your typical cheap fix it and go roofers!) They work fast, efficiently, and again they use the best quality materials to help ensure leaks do not return! Luke made his team become available within days of the heavy rain stopping, and they repaired my roof for the exact estimate that was given. These guys stand by their work which gives me piece of mind so if you are looking for HONEST, GOOD PEOPLE to repair your roof I would look no further and I would gladly recommend Hunters Roofing to ANYONE! Thanks Luke, love you guys!! read more

Douglas, the owner of Hunters Roofing, is top notch. I had an insurance situation with my roof and them not wanting to replace my roof. My sister referred me to Douglas and with his in depth knowledge and work ethic I was able to get a new roof. ALONG WITH the support I received prior to hiring Hunters Roofing, the workers are top of the line. The crews know what they are doing, they work hard and get the job done quickly with a smile on their face and sometimes a song being sung. I will ALWAYS recommend Hunters Roofing for any roof situation. Trust is #1 to me. Thank you Douglas for everything! read more

What an excellent choice we made in hiring Hunters Roofing for our 2 HOA buildings' roof removal and replacement! During the whole process, we knew we were in great hands with Doug and Denise even when the City of Santa Monica added some additional requirements for waste removal. The new roof looks beautiful and we are very confident in the quality of work by the Hunters team. Their pricing was very fair and we so appreciated that they were BBB-rated A+. Hunters Roofing was completely honest, fair, and gave me exactly what I wanted. I could not have been treated any better. I had another roofer provide me with a quote before Doug Hunter. The quote was almost $20,000 more than what Hunters Roofing did the job for. Doug had answers for every thing I asked about, which is not what I could say about the other roofing company. Hunters roofers were very attentive to the details, very efficient, clean and professional. I would highly recommend them to anybody looking for a roofer. You will get a very good job from a very honest man. read more

Everything Doug stated would happen -- did happen! First off -- my roof is absolutely gorgeous. Gorgeous! I had put off installing a new roof for years; but I still can't believe how easy and seamless this process was. Prior to hiring Doug and his team, I had done my homework. I contacted and got bids from 3 companies. My final decision rested on the fact that Doug had previously re-roofed three homes in my neighborhood (spoke with homeowners and they also had good experiences) AND he was easy to work with. Throughout the job, Doug would connect with me; if I had concerns -- he would personally address the situation. Thank-you to Doug and Hunter's Roofing! read more

The smartest decision I made was to hire Hunters Roofing. After having multiple estimates Hunters Roofing came in with a price that I could live with. They showed up on time and immediately went to work, making sure that the work area were always neat and clean. It took 3 days to replace our roof as they said it would and I couldn't be happier. After a few days I called Doug and told him that there were a couple of areas that I was concerned about. He came by and took some pictures of those areas and said he would have somebody come by the next day to fix them. Sure enough the next morning two employees showed up and fixed the problems. Wouldn't it be wonderful if everyone did business this way. Thank you Doug and Hunters Roofing Gary read more

Five years ago I would have given this company 5 stars for the complete re-roofing of my house. Unfortunately the company doesn't seem able to follow up on problems to full resolution. Since 2004, I have hired the company 3 times. In 2004 they re-roofed my flat roof portion of my house for $2500. In 2005 I hired them to re-roof the entire peaked roof of my house for $8625.00 In March of 2010 , during a storm, the roof leaked and water leaked through my dining room ceiling ruining the plaster and drywall. I called them assuming they would fix the leak as part of the warranty. The owner of the company claimed that the problem came from a roof vent I had installed by a different contractor in 2007, therefore the repair would not be covered by his warranty. I paid them $695 to "repair" the area around the roof vent. I hired a drywall contractor to repair my ceiling at a cost of $300. It doesn't rain that much in California, as the song goes, but when it rains, it pours. In December of 2010 during our huge storms in Los Angeles, the dining room ceiling again started dripping water in the exact same place as it had in March of 2010. I called Hunter's Roofing and they did promptly send two guys out. They spent some time in the attic looking around and could not find any leak. They patched a miniscule 1 inch crack in the flat roof with Henry's and left. They called later to say the repair was not covered by warranty and it would be $150 for the visit. I refused to pay until I knew the problem was solved. Within days the storm returned and the roof was leaking again. I had put tarps over a large portion of the roof and it was still leaking. I called them back. The roofers returned and this time they decided to tear apart a section of the roof over the leak, removing shingles and cutting open the plywood. They could not find any water. So they put it all back together. The owner then called me and basically gave me a polite F*** you, saying that they could not solve the problem. I asked if there was any leak detection system available. He said no. I would think that being a repeat customer and having spent $11,820 with their company over the past 6 years, I would get some attention. Apparently not. I searched online for a leak detection system. The simple answer was, get up on the roof with a hose and spray till it leaks. After the storms ended I went up on the roof which had been completely covered with leaves from the wind and used my leaf blower to blow all the leaves off. Then I took a garden hose and sprayed water on various sections of the roof. My wife was stationed in the dining room to report leaks. Within 15 minutes I discovered the source of the leak. It was a section of flashing under my air conditioner vent that was raised up about 1.5 inches, not providing protection. With the force of the storm the water built up and leaked into the roof. Now why a roofer doesn't use a solution like a water hose to find a leak is beyond me. Basic science shows that water seeks its own level. The roofer could have saved lots of time and money by doing that. After I discovered the leak, I called and left a message for the roofer on his answering service on Sunday January 16. I also emailed them and told them I had discovered the source of the leak and I asked them to please call me. I called again on Monday January 17 after not receiving a call back from them, (the office was open on MLK Day). I spoke with the person who answered the phone at the office and again left a message for the owner and asked if I should send pictures of the source/location of the leak. I sent a second email with the pictures that morning. It has been 6 days and I have not had a response by email or phone. Wouldn't it be polite or good business practice to at least call or email and say they got my message, were busy and would get back to me eventually? In conclusion, I have spent $11,820 with this company over 6 years and I am a repeat customer. I spent $300 fixing my ceiling last year for a misdiagnosed repair. I would think in this economy an owner of a company would want to maintain good relations with a past customer since many contractors rely on referrals for business. Today I hired another contractor to repair the roof. I will have to pay to repair my dining room ceiling again. I cannot recommend Hunter's Roofing due to the inattention and non-communication they have to offer. read more

We just completed a complete tile re-roofing by Hunters Roofing and were 100% satisfied from first encounter to the finish of the work. We reached out to Hunters because of the positive Yelp reviews and within a couple of days Luke came and did a thorough review of the roof and provided a detailed, written estimate within 48 hours. In addition to the estimate, while he was at our home he provided a clear explanation of what was needed and how the work would be done. Because we were in the midst of a significant rainy season, the work itself did not begin for more than a month, but we were contacted repeatedly to keep us updated on plans and to offer to come and tarp the roof if we were experiencing interior leaks. When the work actually began, either Luke or Doug (owner of the company) came by daily to check-in and ensure that everything was being done both to plan and to our liking. We were continually kept informed of timing (the whole job took five days) and what to expect each day. The on-site crew were completely professional and respectful. If there were any questions or concerns, they would reach out to us to make sure that what was being done was acceptable. Of particular note is the extra effort they took around the chimney and all roof vents to provide additional safeguards against water seepage. Also, given that we have solar panels on the roof, they ensured that everything was done to protect the integrity of the system while integrating the new roof with the panels. In addition to doing outstanding work, the crews were very neat -- cleaning the areas around the property each day so that our lives weren't impacted. When the job was done, they took down the protective wrap they had placed in the garage to protect items (the garage being the only section of our home that has no attic space so debris tended to fall there) and thoroughly cleared the garage from debris. While the proof of the quality of the work won't be known until we have additional heavy rains (which might not be until next season), we have no doubt that we will be 100% pleased. Additionally, the new roof looks significantly better than it did since they ensured that the tiles were not only properly applied, but also aesthetically laid so that the roof has a uniform appearance. We would not hesitate to use Hunters Roofing for any other roofing needs (although it is unlikely we'll need to do so for another 25 years or so), and will heartily recommend them to friends and family with roofing needs. They are a truly outstanding company. read more

We hired Hunters to check out our roof after we noticed a small leak. We weren't sure if it would be a spot repair or a whole roof replacement. From start to finish they were professional. We contracted them before the recent rains and so far, so good. We would definitely hire them again! read more

I am very happy with my new roof by Hunters Roofing. My project consisted of a complete tear down of several layers and installation of new asphalt shingle roof. Doug began by providing me with an honest assessment and competitively-priced quote as I requested. He was easy to communicate with and very thorough in presenting and explaining the entire process. His crews showed up early each day and worked very hard, which I personally witnessed. The project was well-organized and ran smoothly from start to finish. I needed to have my roof repaired for insurance purposes. We had a very old roof with concrete tiles that were not only discontinued, but also recalled. I contacted several companies and they did not want to touch it. Doug came out, explained the problem to me and was very hospitable. He thoroughly explained the repairs needed and told me he would email me a quote to review. I was shocked as I thought it was just his way of snuffing me off, but the quote arrived the next day and at a very reasonable price. I called the company and spoke with his assistant (sorry I can't remember her name) who was very friendly and efficient. The work that his two guys did was excellent. They were on time, kept the place clean and did great work. If you could see my roof, it was a mess with broken, cracked and missing tiles. To see the work completed by them you would hardly notice.
