I am so happy that I stopped in to Hunter Essentials! I have wasted too much time in the big sporting good stores. I always hated dealing with uninterested staff who have little to no shooting or hunting experience and their take it or leave it attitude. I had forgotten what it's like to be in a small shop and especially working with an owner like Bruce. He took the time to answer all my questions and had a good selection. I could tell that the other people in the store were frequent customers and that Bruce has long relationships with them. Great store. If you're new to firearms and have questions or an avid shooter Hunters Essentials should be your go to shop. Bruce has the cheapest prices from all the other shops in Nassau. He is less than 10 minutes to Nassau PLB. His store is small but it is filled with anything you need! And if he doesn't have it, he can order it! Bruce runs the shop on his own so you only deal with him and only him. So if you become a repeat customer expect to be treated like a friend cause you will develop that kind of relationship. He has everything from rifles to pistols along with their parts! He is also a gunsmith and can work and customize your firearms! His store is small but packed with great stuff. Very pleasant place to shop for guns, parts or modifications. Bruce is the man for custom Glock mods and his prices are more than reasonable. He actually cares about the sport and is an accomplished hunter as well. GREAT place to do fast FFL transfers or just to pick up ammo for the range. I found out about this place from a friend it's a small shop, but packed full of nice new and used guns. He always has the best prices, and makes buying a quick and easy process. Bruce is full of knowledge on different guns and can do just about anything to customize your guns. I've seen some of the guns he's cerakoted and he does an awesome job. I've been in the military and am a 30+ year police veteran and have dealt with a wide spectrum of people from presidents to known terrorists. So I think it's safe to say I hate most people. Then I stumbled onto Hunters Essentials to look for a particular pistol. I was almost floored when the stores owner Bruce greeted my wife and I as soon as we entered his gun shop. Not only did he have everything that I needed, but could not have been friendlier . I've been to many gun shops over the years, and can say without any reservation Bruce and his gun shop outshines all the others by far. Went to this shop last week for my first ever purchase. I am as beginner as beginner could get when it comes to purchasing a firearm and firearms in general. I was quite intimidated before I went in. I was concerned that I'd ask too many questions and annoy a worker and even get taken advantaged of. However, Bruce is a real stand up guy that took his time with me, answered all my questions, showed me the shotgun I wound up getting (a number of times he demonstrated because I wasn't getting it immediately and was patient the whole time), and made me feel real comfortable. In fact, the whole scene was quite comfortable. When another customer walked in, you could see the relationship Bruce has with his customers. Bruce didn't push me aside to take care of this customer, which many people would do, knowing that I'd take a while. Instead the three of us were having laughs and the customer was helpful as well, considering that we both live in the city and have to follow NYC laws, which are tougher. It's a good sign that people will travel further than they need to to get what they need. That says a lot about the business and the people to me. Bruce also didn't push any sales on me at all. I went in looking for a Mossberg Maverick 88, as my research suggested that this was a good shotgun for a first time buyer. I also knew that this shotgun was not that expensive and thought for sure a salesman would try to sell me on another shotgun. However, that did not happen at all. Bruce agreed that this was a good choice for a first firearm and showed me the shotgun. He only showed me other options after I asked him to, but did not push any of them on me. When we finished our transaction, he gave me his card and welcomed me back anytime, even if it was just to ask questions. I was so pleased with my experience with Bruce and his shop that it motivated me to write this...my first and only Yelp review. I was also so pleased that I didn't even try to negotiate the price at all. I was happy to give my business to such stand up guy. i have been going to bruce since 2012.pistol permit holder for thirty years,got tiered of the way non leos and veterans are treated at the other nassua county gun shops,bruce is very friendly,and knowledeable,no attitude if you dont know about a firearm,he also does minor gunsmith jobs,great prices on ammo and handguns,i spend way to much pension bucks on these items,so a friendly business owner is where i will spend,he is the owner operater,so if there is a line its worth the wait,i highly recomend useing hunters essentials for all your gun and ammo needs read more

They have a great selection of everything you could want. But the store hours are awful as in that they are misleading. They are probably only open 2 times a week at most really and are never in. If you call them up and they actually answer, then you'll be told that they're closed, however that works. read more

This place is awesome! Bruce is the owner and is really great. I purchased a few items from him and he was happy to answer any questions I had and even was even willing to negotiate with me on price. I felt like I got a lot of personal attention through the whole process and knew I could trust Bruce. I originally visited a larger shop on Long Island looking for a specific item. They were sold out and told me the wait was at least a week for shipping. So, I searched on Yelp and found Hunters Essentials. I went over and Bruce said he could have that specific item delivered in three days. It came in three days and was in pristine condition. Hunters Essentials is now my go to shop! Other shops I have bought from do not give you any attention until they are done with their current customers (which could sometimes take a while).
