They are fine at best. The staff I had help me were a mixed bag, most of the time it felt less like conversation and more like I was trying to interrogate them. Trust is really important to me when it comes to buying a firearm, and for whatever reason I just felt like these guys were always trying to hide the lead. I was having difficulty removing my choke tube on my BT99 shotgun. I called the shop, and they said bring it in.We'll take a look at it. Even though the store was busy, Andy, the in house gunsmith, took it downstairs into the shop and returned my shotgun back within minutes. Problem solved. No charge. I'll be a customer for life. I am a first time gun owner. I did not know what to expect or, much of anything. I told the salesperson exactly that. I felt welcomed and got a wonderful education. No one pushed anything on me and, Tommy { the gentleman who helped me} spent all the time I needed to make the right decisions. No hard sell. He spent about 3 hours with me and, helped me make the best choices for my needs. After the sale, he was still extremely helpful going step by step- even stapled my paper work together to avoid confusion. There is so much paperwork to complete it can be overwhelming. Coliseum Gun Traders was started, owned and operated from the same location, albeit occupying but a small fraction of its current space, by Andy's father in the late 70's. I bought my first handgun here in the early 80's, back when Andy, the current owner, still had hair and better eyesight. Over the years I have learned to prioritize what is important in dealing with vendors, which includes their experience, trustworthiness, honesty, integrity, reputation, longevity, knowledge and price. Although no one likes to overpay, price, in dealing with something as critical as firearms, ranks near the bottom of my list. Andy's prices are not the cheapest, but always fair. As for Andy, he has always been sarcastic, snarky, and not particularly good looking, but who cares. That's just his personality. However, he knows his stuff. As for the other purchase factors, I have come to rely heavily on the sage advice from Andy and his sales crew. Once, when I was interested in purchasing a gun I chose, Andy interceded and told me that it was not the right pistol for me and carefully explained why. He was right. If you are looking for a quick, one time, cheap acquisition, Coliseum GT may not be for you. If you are in it for the long haul, and are willing to pay a fair price, and benefit from a huge inventory, decades of experience, and be welcomed into the CGT family, you have come to the right place. I've seen some mixed reviews here. But my first experience was just before Covid and then a few experience since Covid. So let's get something straight. There a laws. You have to follow them. This isn't like trying on a pair of shoes. You can't just touch something if you don't have a permit. And if you do and your kid doesn't they can't touch it. So if the people there seem on edge I can imagine why. I witnessed the most unsettling exchange with someone who just got their pistol permit but wanted their son to feel the gun they weee buying. And when the sales person stopped them the customer got visibly upset. I have had only great experiences here. When they are busy it's hard to spend a lot of time but they never rush me when it's my turn. And the few times I have been there during Covid without a line and minimal other customers there have been multiple people helping me, telling me stories and teaching me safety and the proper way to do things. I have also checked pricing. I have a cell phone. You can too. It is not much different anywhere else so why go anywhere else. These guys are local and will support you when you need it. Well, I purchased a firearm and a optic with them and the service was excellent. When I got home I checked out the optic and it's my first time I've ever purchased one it seemed off. I showed a few of my friends and they also stated the same thing. I called over they told me come by to check it out. I stop by 3 days later after purchase and first thing I'm told is it's fine you have eye problems. The man behind him states I'm not looking at it unless it's on a firearm. I tell him I put it on my firearm just to check it out and I think it's wrong again it's my first optic, he tells me I can't return the item because you put it in a firearm. Things changed from the first time I visited to now, and I guess true colors show when you're not spending money the day you show up and customer service really matters. Would of been nice if he could of said "hey sometimes people have issues due to their vision, and maybe you can't see it correctly because of that" felt like it was just a very rude interaction and I won't be purchasing firearms from this location ever again. Now I'm stuck with a optic I can't even use that I never used, just wasted a few hundred bucks for no reason. The manufacture said I have 30 days to return but it has to be to the store you brought it from. This store won't refund me my money for a item I haven't used. My second time driving well over 2 hours from nyc to this location. Won't be spending money here again. read more

Unprofessional & rude, it's a shame when customers wait more than 3 hours and get screamed at for trying to ask a question. This is directly to the manager, Kevin, you don't have to worry about not selling me a gun which is what you threatened to a group of us. I waited 1.5 hours, spoke to you and came back to wait 3 hours today, I ONLY WANTED AMMO. You passed out 7-10 courtesy cards but there were at least 20 customers who waited at least 3 hours that you ignored, that isn't fair. A few of us waited to ask if you had extra cards for all the customers who waited, we all waited faithfully because we wanted to be YOUR customer but trust & believe we discussed trying other dealers while we waited outside. You are NOT the only ammo dealer in town. I understand this is a pandemic, a 2nd rush on guns, I am sure that you & your sales clerks are all tired and frustrated but if customers can be patient & wait the least you can do is be patient & speak to us all respectfully. Your behavior was uncalled for. I went to another dealer where they have enough sense to take ammunition customers separately. I was in & finished in 10 minutes. You lost a customer today, you probably don't care but if you had any respect for your customers you would learn to treat them ALL as fairly as possible. read more

I'm a NYC resident that was looking for a Glock 45 MOS in this "pandemic" and had a period of 2 months to buy something after going back and forth with the 2 shops I've delt with in the past which are DF Brothers in Brooklyn & South Shore Sportsman in LI and not being able to find what I wanted because they didn't have it and didn't know when they were going to have it nevertheless ammo. I finally decided to look elsewhere and when I came a cross this shop and I was not only shocked they had the pistol I was looking for but ammo as well. The whole process went smooth dealing with Gary. I will be coming back here for future purchases. My only issue was that I felt the price on the pistol was a bit elevated and the price on the ammo was more than double(which is everywhere right now) read more

Once you buy from Coliseum you are part of the very close family; Despite going away to College in Delaware. Medical School in Central American & England and my Residency in Upstate New York - I managed to keep in close contact with Andy and Friends @ Coliseum. They are great and caring people. This isn extremely well run business with may things to offer customers - particularly great prices. This is my only place that I will go for firearms and repair. This place has multiple one star reviews for a reason and that reason is that this place SUCKS! Recently, I visited this store looking to purchase my first ever firearm or at least get some information on how to start. When I first walked into the store, I noticed it was horribly small. The second thing I noticed, was that there wasn't much of an inventory. I waited a few minutes since the employees were dealing with a customer. 15 minutes later and they finally noticed me and asked what do I need. When I told them I was looking to purchase a firearm, the employee seemed annoyed, uninterested, and hostile. They started asking me different questions but had a nasty attitude while asking me. The funny thing is, right before they helped me, they were polite with a different customer. I'm not sure what the employee's name is but they have no customer service skills at all. Because of that, they lost a potential customer. I was willing to make a purchase but the way I was treated made me change my mind. I will GLADLY take my business ELSEWHERE because this place is TERRIBLE. I was naive to ignore the previous bad reviews left at this place but take my review and the others into consideration and avoid this place like the plague. read more

My FFL delt with the exchange for me but when I asked for an updated tracking number, they just said "it was mailed tuesday". Bought a brand new Benelli M4 H2O shotgun and had it assembled at the store. Next day, I find that there is damage to the magazine tube, I could see the shiny metal under the cerakote coating. Upon closer inspection I can see the end/edge of the magazine tube is mangled. I immediately called the store, I didn't get a name, guy said I can bring it in but there's nothing they would be able to do. He tried to explain to me that's how it came from Benelli- um why is this my problem? Secondly, why waste my time further by inviting me to the store and at the same time tell me you can't do anything!? You've lost my future business and the business of everyone I know over a one hundred dollar magazine tube. To anyone considering purchasing anything here: shop elsewhere, somewhere that stands behind what they sell. Well you gun traders know the gun store vibe. This place takes it to a new low. They are never willing to make a deal on anything used no matter how much you buy there. That wouldn't be a problem if everything wasn't inflated by 20%. Annoying unknowledgeable sales staff have to run every question by the owner who is "upstairs". Doesn't matter anyway, the answer to your offer is always no. I'm lucky enough to have a lot of knowledge with this hobby which allows me to realize that the answer they give as to why a guns price is so high is misleading, untrue, and totally ignorant.
