They are upping the price on all of the state mandated background checks which is illegal and when i confronted the owner on how he can not do that he responded with "i can do what ever i want." if I could give -0 i would. I'm filing this complaint against Equilibrium for the mishandling of a custom gun build I submitted in March, and the shockingly poor customer service that followed. I paid $350 up front, then heard nothing for over two months. Despite calling the store more than 25 times, I received vague excuses like "we're busy" or "we'll call you back." Finally, on April 24th, I was told that a specialized gunsmith was needed--along with an additional $934.22 for parts and labor. I paid it, trusting this would lead to completion. Weeks passed again with no updates. After more unreturned calls, I was finally told that they could not build the gun at all. No clear explanation, no accountability, just a statement that the service I paid for couldn't be fulfilled. When I arrived to pick up my parts, the staff offered no apology, refused to refund any of the $1,284.22 I spent, and behaved in an appallingly rude and unprofessional manner. I understand that some parts were ordered, and I'm not disputing those costs--but how can a company justify keeping everything, and leave me with nothing but frustration? Their behavior is unethical and deceptive. NEVER NEVER NEVER go to this store. Consider this a warning to anyone thinking of trusting them with your time, your money, or your property. Although I do not have my pistol permit just yet, I went into the store and one of the employees named Rob walked me through a few different choices for a conceal and carry. They follow the rules very well did not allow me to actually handle the gun because I did not have a license just yet. He was very helpful and gave me a lot of advice. I went to Equilibrium firearms to purchase my 2nd firearm. I was so excited, I called ahead to make sure they had what I was looking for a Ruger SR22. The guy on the phone said they had the firearm and it was going on clearance today. Told me he only had 1 and would hold it for me and we can discuss the price when I get there. When I got there the price tag was marked $500.00, so I asked what the clearance price was. He told me he can't do any better than $500 that there was no wiggle room, if I paid cash he wouldn't charge me tax that I misunderstood him on the phone. There was no misunderstanding, he lied to me. Anyway I wanted the gun. So I bought the Ruger, a holster and ammunition. I was rushed out of the store because the salesman had a class to teach and Nassau County Pistol dept was going to close in 25 minutes. Shame on me for rushing! Little did I know he charged me $515 for the firearm $20 more than he said he would give me the holster for and $30.00 for a background check. WHATTT! That is ridiculous. I never heard of being charged that much for a background check. When I went back and approached the salesman that took over about the price on the receipt and how I was taken advantage of, he tried to double talk me, knowing that there wasn't anything that I could do because the gun was already register to me. As I was leaving he said "here is a box of ammo for the confusion". There wasn't any confusion, this place is shady, a ripoff! BEWARE! I will never refer ANYONE to this place. read more

"Our aim is to be one of the friendliest FFL's in town." Can you believe that this is the first sentence on their company mission statement? I live in the area and was stoked to go inside Equilibrium Firearms and support my local business. I was greeted by an employee that barely greeted me and did not say anything as to when someone would help me. The owner, Sam, finally comes out with a stoic face as if he is mad to see customers. This is literally one of the worst customer service interactions I've had in my life, much less at a gun store where there is usually a sense of community. He handed me a featureless rifle without any help or description and was clearly frustrated or annoyed to answer any questions. This basic standard issue AR-15 was insanely overpriced at over $1,800. I was able to purchase a high quality DSI-15 featureless AR that isn't a basic Smith & Wesson for $1300 along with a PC Carbine 9MM for basically the same price as this overpriced basic AR at Equilibrium. The craziest thing is I am glad that Sam had utterly no social awareness and personality to run his business. I could have easily been convinced to purchase the AR at his store with even a modicum of decent sales skills. I walked in the store ready to purchase and left with a feeling of disgust that this store is in my community. I hope the owner turns things around as I typically support all FFL's. read more

First visit to equilibrium firearms. I am from France so I had a purchase document ready to expire in 2 days . They didn't have my first YouTube recruit in stock but I happily " settled" on a sig sauer p365 x Romeo elite! Keith helped me make the selection. He was very helpful and answered all of my random questions without getting frustrated. We spoke about the next purchase and Keith offered to special order it from the supplier when I get my next purchase document. The shop is organized with a decent selection of new pistols and long guns on hand. As you walk in the store to the right they have a used section full of long guns. As far as pricing is concerned they are on par with New York pricing . Yes I could have save 50$ by gunbroker , shipping and transfer fees.... But support local business ! read more

Walking into a gun store is almost like walking into a tattoo shop. You may feel intimidated because you want to get something but were afraid to ask. I visited this store with the intentions of purchasing a stun gun but only know what I've seen on YouTube. The price of the stun gun is reasonable considering I'll save by not traveling to another state to buy one. I believe in supporting local businesses and in the market for a firearm, but not trying to price gouge newbies. I know owning a store can be competitive with online pricing. I usually let that slide by 20%. Meaning if I can get it for $500 online, I'm willing to buy it from a local store at up to $600, depending how bad I want it. Every gun I looked at in this place was at least double in price - for stuff that's not even rare or out of stock. Example, a gun easily purchased online (and plenty available) for $600, they were selling for $1300! I can buy it online for $600, have it transferred to my FFL for $30 and avoid NYS Sales tax. That's $630 vs $1300 ($1415 after tax)! That's just nuts and I can't support this price gouging. A fair business treats their customers fairs and in return the community treats them fair and gives them business. Everyone gets to eat, not just the gun store owner. The other place around the corner from them, Jimmy's something, isn't any better. They prey on the newbie Chinese gun shooting community who can't speak English and go online and do their own research. Such a shame - this Island needs better gun shops/representation and doesn't help the 2A community with wolf-tactics like this. read more

Update: After shopping around, I got completely ripped off for the Stevens 320 12 gauge. Every other store around sells it for $249-279 and this guy Sam charges $479. He also didn't want to stand behind his own WRITTEN return policy for rifle bag. I had to argue to get him to take it back. I will get straight to the point. Sam and Equilibrium in Mineola New York, literally Robbed me financially without any remorse. , while I made my first Time purchase of a NY State Approved Fire Arm. Had I paid attention to that reputable Gun Dealer's advice to ONLY use Sam and Equilibrium as a last resort, I would not have been robbed by some $750.00 plus U.S. Dollars (Please see receipts attached) I just happened to be passing that Den of Thieves that day and went inn... Big Mistake, I purchased a Ruger (580 series) .556 Mini 14. Had I followed the reputable Gun Dealers advice this robbery would never have happened. To put my claim in perspective, Sam literally within a a few dollars doubled the industry price, I paid him for the Mini M-14. Being a first time Gun buyer, I had hoped to be able to receive solid & reliable advice. "IT WAS NOT AT EQUILIBRIUM". I thought the price was a little higher than expected, it proved to be OVER THE TOP. Then they gave me a crock of S#!T about the FireField 3x12x40 - FFP,MOA,IR,OA Tactical Scope. They charged me an additional $300.00, Here again, I said "Let's GO..". The incompetent employee who mounted the scope did a HORRENDOUS JOB - The mounting rings were not aligned between the rear & front fixed sights, they were askew to natural line of sight, secondly he left the fixed rear sight in place and mounted the scope on top so tightly that the magnification bevel was SCOURED and COULD NOT ROTATE, I THOUGHT SOMETHING WRONG BUT DID NOT KNOW AT THAT TIME WHAT IT WAS.. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED. Lastly, not one of the Lock down screws for the scope met the required "Pounds per square Inch" to properly secure it in place. To add insult to injury, He charged me an additional $40.00 for that "Hack Job". It was an absolute Disaster... I took their mess to that other Reputable Gun Dealer and they were appalled at what they saw. They educated me and fixed the problem. As I said Sam charged me $300.00 for that P.O.S and within 2 months of very little use the Cross hairs separated rendering the scope USELESS. I took it back to him, explained to him my dismay along with my dissatisfaction with the entire gun sale. He flat out took no responsible for the scope and gave me an address to send it to, looked me square into my eyes - paused for a moment and then decided to return to me a mere $50.00 and his response. " I am in the business to make a Profit" I was stunned. Here's the Kicker.. I googled the Scope only to find out the MSRP was less than $100.00. please see the attached proof in the documents. I'm really getting upset now behind this unbelievable experience with EQUILIBRIUM FIREARMS IN MINEOLA. In closing. BUYER BEWARE IF YOU EVER CROSS THE THRESHOLD OF THE THIEVING EQUILIBRIUM FIREARMS IN MINEOLA NEW YORK. read more
