I have been dealing with T&T Gunnery from the time they were in Floral Park to today, so that's about 30 years. I've been to plenty of gun shops, you can name them all. In the end, I always buy my guns, ammo, and extras from Marty's place. They know their stuff, period. If you're looking for a waiting room with coffeed, music, and a bathroom, you won't find it anywhere. If you're serious about visiting a firearms store, then look no further. The store in Floral Park closed years ago, I miss the indoor range, but in Merrick, the legacy continues. In any gun shop, don't expect "bedside manner" but in most you will find alot of ego and arrogance. Here, there is knowledge and experience. Should I name the other stores? I have spent thousands in T&T. Lately Marty is not there as often as he used to be, (and defenitly should be). His arrogant son who seems to have stepped in shit, seems to be running the business (into the ground) He's more interested in eating a bucket of fried chicken, he should consider going to a gym. If I ever entertain the thought of going back, I will only conduct business with Marty, or anyone else, other than the walking food prosseser. read more

Place looks shabby but the guy who helped me knew his stuff. Was wait listed which happens to me every time. When I went in after I passed screening they didn't have the pump action I was looking for. I believe the owners son helped me this time and was annoyed when I said I only wanted a particular piece. I guess since they filled out the form to submit to the feds they feel like you have to buy a gun from them. I'll chalk it up to him having a bad day and try going back in for ammunition and see what happens. read more

This place is the biggest ripoff I've ever seen, I've recently been sold a $1500 rifle that was modded to look high end to later find out its a simple $600 rifle...I've also been sold REUSED 5.56 Ammo $29 for 30 rounds..if your new please look elsewhere or they will take advantage of you big time. Went to this place on a recommendation from a friend and was quite disappointed. Staff was not friendly at all and seemed like they did not care about doing business with new customers. Their prices were not competitive and beware if you use a credit card, they charge you a hefty separate transaction fee. I had the most frustrating experience with this store. I have spoken to people who have shopped there and, for the most part, got positive feedback. Today I walked in to see what they had. I am currently doing my own AR build and wanted to get a lower parts kit. I stood there for several minutes in an empty store waiting for someone to help me; they were busy ordering lunch. When someone finally came over, they were out of stock on kits. I asked about adjustable stocks; also nothing in stock. I decided to buy a gunsmith tool kit. I brought the kit to the cashier who spent the next 5-10 minutes chatting with someone completely ignoring me. I was standing there with my credit card in hand!!!! I placed the tool kit on the counter and walked out. I guess they are so prosperous that they don't need anymore people to buy their products. Why bother? I wish I could give zero stars. My husband and I walked in, got treated like garbage. My husband just wanted to look at different shot guns and price them out to have a better understanding of that's he wanted. We weren't purchasing at that exact moment. He said from the minute we walked in that we was just LOOKING to get a better understanding. The guy started taking off the tag and we told him we're not buying right now. They all started gnawing up on my husband and very incredibly rude. Not helpful or polite at all. I went in there to buy two magazines for my off-duty Glock for job requirements and took a long time for someone to come over and help me. When somebody dead I know exactly what I wanted so I was only in there for three minutes before paying and leaving so it's not like it required a lot of their time away from their friends who they were taking to anyway. This place is more of a hang out then a place of business apparently. I realize I didn't need one of the magazines so I called a few weeks later to see if I can return one of them and the man that answered the phone said "sorry all sales are final". I said but I have the receipt and it not opened. He said The only person who could take returns as Marty and he's here on Monday. Are you kidding me? This is why nobody shops at mom and Pop stores anymore because the return policy is terrible and customer service is even worse. Never again with this place. If you need any kind of firearms or ammo or accessories please do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere. Preferably a chain store with a better return policy. read more

Been there about 10 times and had no issues with them. Marty is super knowledgeable on pretty much any firearm out there. I've dealt with his son as well, personally I haven't had any bad experiences with his son contrary to what others say on here. Yes, he could be a little better with with his interaction skills but he's not as awful as everyone makes him out to be. I think most people confuse their broad knowledge of firearms with their so called arrogance. I've been to a bunch a different gun stores from Long Island to upstate NY so it's not like I haven't seen different stores. Another thing to mention is that they're in a state where firearms are frowned upon and I'm sure they're many people who try and demonize them or even try to screw them over simply for just existing which could possibly explain their maybe not so friendly behavior on some days. Now I'm not excusing them or saying they're perfect but I think people tend to misunderstand the type of people who are in this business, they tend to be a bit brusque and straight to the point. They sell "new" guns that are highly used.. In fact, the manufacturer thought thousands and thousands of rounds were fired through the gun when only 20 were fired before it jammed. Warranty service sucks. Integrity lacking. Try Hunter Sports instead. Save the hassle. read more

i bought my first rifle from marty in 1985 i think a 1917 eddystone for $90. they go for $1000 and up now. if i invested in milsurp instead of the stock market i'd be doing this from hawaii instead of ny. t&t wil always be my favorite gun shop. read more

Purchased a Ruger SR22 here and was well treated by the staff. My wife has trouble racking due to Arthritus and they took great pains in letting her try several pistols before settling in on the Ruger. We will be back. read more

I have yet to find a gun store where the sales people are bright and cheery, but at T&T at least they don't talk down to you. It seems like customers need to be coddled when they purchase a gun. Thankfully I am looking for advice, and a weapon that I have already done some research on. Buying a gun is personal. All of these reviews seem to be from people that are looking for friends. Marty knows his stuff and the rest of the staff is there to assist you. Met Mike today and he was awesome. Showed me a lot of things to help me in cleaning and caring for my pistols. Tom got prices for me on bulk ammo and did his job. By the way, this place has the best prices on ammo so I left very happy. And when I have questions about guns, ask Marty. You may have to wait until he finishes helping someone else, but just because you are ready to check out doesn't mean he should stop helping someone else. Bottom line is the prices are superior, the inventory is sufficient, and if you want a friend, get a dog. None of these gun shops personnel are overly friendly. But if you want to buy a gun, toughen up and buy a gun. read more

Okay im not hating on this place. They have some okay stuff- good targets- some okay priced ammo.. But seriously they are not educated. The larger kid with tattoos is just... Oblivious. I love the guy but seriously like he has some rough edges when it comes to legitimate human interaction. Couple of other people there also really just don't know anything about guns. I was in there for 10 minutes and the store was nearly empty before someone asked if i needed anything. Yes. I did. I had 600 dollars on me I was about to spend on an sks but had to go somewhere else because they just seemed like the type of people that didn't really want my money. Its a shame. (would do 1.5 stars if I could) Went there for the second time ever about a month ago. I bought 200 surplus 8mm mauser that was labeled "8mm Hungarian non-corrosive" for $17.95/20 rnds. I was more than aware that this was overpriced, but I had just bought a Hakim and was eager to try it out and I prefer to use non corrosive ammo whenever possible. When I got home I opened the bags of ammo and googled the headstamps to make sure it was safe to use in a hakim. (Some surplus 8mm such as turkish is only safe for use in bolt actions, not semi autos like my hakim). I soon found out that the majority of the ammo (160 rounds) was Romanian, not Hungarian, which doesn't really matter I suppose, but I also discovered that it was corrosive. Not happy about paying $1 a shot for mislabeled ammo! The remaining 40 rounds turned out to be newly made Romanian ammo which was non corrosive, but was notorious for not chambering properly in many 8mm rifles. Sure enough, it doesn't chamber in my hakim. As for the rest of their stock, I can't really say much. I got a decent price on a large amount of 7.62x39 a year ago.They have a nice collection of surplus guns but theyre mostly behind the counter and the staff is very unfriendly so I didn't bother to ask them to look at each and every gun. They're probably overpriced anyway. TL/DR: spent $200 on 200 rounds of Non corrosive 8mm. walked out with 160 corrosive rounds and 40 that wouldn't chamber. Major waste of money. read more

Looks like this place suffered a lot from hurricane Sandy. It used to be a great shop. Your best bet would be to head elsewhere.

I have to say this place is the most unprofessional gun shop I have been in! Used to be a great store, extremely knowledgeable sales people - they are now all gone. Store is left with the owner's arrogant son and the owner Marty is never there. Owners son is not helpful and he has lousy customer service skills. The one guy, John who had been there for many, many years was the most helpful and he knew his stuff - great to deal with - he is now gone from there. That place has surely changed over the years. They need some caring and knowledgeable sales people because if Marty is relying on his arrogant, playing on the computer, unhelpful nasty son to bring the business in, well he better open his eyes cause he'll be out of business! I'll go elsewhere until they wake up and stop losing great, helpful, and KNOWLEDGEABLE salespeople - I just can't believe all the great people who used to work there. - it's just shocking to me to go in there expecting to see the one guy who knew anything is gone from there - he also repaired guns and did a great job.
