Recently bought most expensive used car on their lot, 2024 X5 BMW. The sale went fine (although they could provide no specific details from prior owner) but after-service remains an unmitigated disaster! I bought from FL and they assured me,'no issue', we do out-of-state sales all the time. Hell they do. Temp tags expired after 30 days and I'm STILL WAITING FOR THEM, 62 days after the purchase. I called the salesman, admin, biz managers and others. They all provide apologies and promises.....no action, as the car collects dust. How extremely inconvenient. I have to borrow a car in the meantime. One man admitted the title sat on someone's desk for a week. Another said well overnight fed ex the tags. The AWB I FINALLY got has it listed as priority, coming in 4 more days. They simply don't have the ability to track this simple process through., nor integrity to tell the truth. I went to get a engine replacement and on the day of picking my car up it was running smooth except it had a laggish response on the acceleration I thought it was due to recent repairs, 2 days with just driving around the parking lot due to it not being license I still was getting the same response from the car I then Connect my OBD2 reader up to it and boom I had 2 codes that weren't supposed to be there because I just got a recent engine replacement. My wife and I have owned our Sonata and Tucson for over 10 years, and loved them. But, the time came to say good-bye to the Sonata--a day we knew was coming for a while. Fortunately, I had met Alex Morgan, Sales Associate, at Hunter Hyundai in the waiting area during a recent service visit. I told Alex that my wife (a former HMA employee) and I were on the glide-path to a vehicle purchase sometime in 2024. Alex and I had a very casual high-level discussion about "what we were looking for." Over the following months, Alex kept in touch but very "lightly." Hunter Hyundai Scams Veterans and Robs Their Own Employees My family has been "Team Hyundai" since the early 90's. We've purchased over a half a dozen models from Elantra to Genesis and have always had a pleasant experience until we decided to buy from Hunter Hyundai. This all started in the fall of 2024 before hurricane hit and devastated parts of Western North Carolina. The week before the hurricane we took our SUV to the Hunter Auto Group service department to get our transmission of less then 50K miles replaced. It was covered under warranty and there was no charge but they would need to keep the vehicle for a week. They gave us a loaner vehicle to use until the replacement was finished. When the hurricane hit Ashville, the Hunter Auto Group moved their inventory to higher ground to escape flood damage. They left all the customer vehicles on site to be flooded and completely covered in mud to the roof of the SUV's. When Hunter notified us of our loss, we thought it would be best to purchase a replacement vehicle through them because they would understand our loss and give us a fair deal. We did have an alternate dealership in mind because Hunter Hyundai and Hyundai of Asheville are very close to each other. After my wife chose the Tucson Hybrid that she wanted, we were quoted a price higher than the advertised price of the exact same vehicle at Hyundai of Asheville. I let them know this and they made me provide the proof, which i did from my cell phone and they verified online. Once they matched the asking price of their nearest competitor, i asked about the Hyundai military program. This was not the first time we've purchased a Hyundai since being a military member. My sales consultant brought his sales manager over and he said, " You have to use our bank to get the military discount.". I replied, "no thanks, I'm already preapproved through USAA and have the rate i want". I thought this could be a lie or some recent change in policy. We proceeded to close the deal with them simply matching their competitors advertised price. As we began to sign the paperwork with the Business Manager, we asked him to confirm all the numbers before we send it off to USAA. The managers attitude was rude and dismissive as we tried to get him to look over the numbers before submission. Turns out he was wrong on his numbers and now his Vehicle Buyers Order and Invoice (HNTR-BO) was inaccurate. He was asking my bank for more than what was owed by $845. He asked us to resubmit to USAA with the correct numbers but the wife and I said no because we tried to avoid this earlier when he rudely dismissed us. I told him he could process it as is and refund me the difference. He said he couldn't. We asked for floormats to make up the difference and again he said he could not. He offered a first aid kit to cover the discrepancy he caused. Frustrated and eager to leave the worst buying experience we've ever had we agreed so we could go. Realizing that we weren't happy, the manager came and told us that a bad review would reflect poorly on our sales consultant and his paycheck, not management. So we left a good review for our sales consultant's sake. Fast forward two months from the sale and i start getting calls, voicemails, and emails from Hunter Hyundai asking for proof of total loss on my vehicle that was left in their care to be serviced under warranty. I thought this was weird because the proof of total loss that i submitted to USAA came from the Hunter Auto Group Service department along with the photos and videos I took at their lot. Did they put in for a rebate I did not receive? I sent them some insurance paperwork hoping this would be the end of it. It's now February, and I'm getting tons of calls, voicemails, texts, and emails about a deal that took place 5 months ago. Now, Hunter Hyundai is asking me for proof of military service so they can claim the military rebate that they told me I don't qualify for unless i use their bank. So, did they lie about qualifications? Is this a scam to collect money on the backend for themselves? What's worse is that the sales consultant is claiming that they are going to take these funds out of his check if i don't produce proof of service 5 months after a likely shady deal has transpired. Here's the deal. I had all the military documentation with me the day we went to the dealership. Like every good soldier, I always have my ID cards with me. I also have plenty of military documents on my phone and had them all ready to present the day of the purchase. Remember, we've been Team Hyundai since the 90's and I've bought several cars on active duty. So, who do I report this terrible customer experience to and how do we hold these managers accountable? Customer service is terrible. I am sooo glad I didn't buy my care here and will never come back again for service here. They have screwed up my car twice now and each time I've had to bring it back. They don't own their mistakes and worse, they never return phone calls so that I could make an appt to bring the car back in. They should NEVER say so an so will call you back in 10 minutes when normal people sit and wait for the return call which is never coming. Unreal. On top of that we left our car for service (tailgate problem )after being told we could wait then told we had to leave overnight...waited 2 days for someone to call us...we call and was told the part needed to be ordered and would take 2-3 weeks for it to come in. SO they held our drivable car leaving us without a car for those 2 days. WHY not immediately call us to come and get it??? 3 weeks now...so try calling to see if part is in and parts department can't even find that it has been ordered! David and Cheyanne were awesome and took great care to make sure all of our questions were answered. We knew we wanted a specific model and trim which is tough as we know inventory is low. Took my car in for repair. Needed catalytic converter. Was told they would order. Would not give me estimate as to time range for it to be ordered. I called two days after taking my car in. I called service three times kept getting hung up on. Finally got this really young lady. She said she would check on part and call me right back. No call even though it's been 1 week. I called parts found out that the part was there. Called service told them that part was In It needed to be put on my auto. Was put on fast. No problem with replacing park. I do have issue that I had to do all the work to find out where my part was and continue to make the calls to get my car into the service department. read more

I contacted a few Hyundai dealerships about a car. Hunter and one other responded to my email. Hunter was the only one that answered my question completely. I made an appointment for a test drive. I got there and was told Jio would be right with me. Out came this very nice young man. Of course there were lots of questions to answer. Pretty standard when buying a car. Jio brought two vehicles for me to compare. There was no pressure either way. I drove the less fancy one. While driving, I was told about all the bells and whistles the car has. My questions were answered without hesitation. When we got back to the lot, I decided I'd take the car. Yes, the process takes a while. A little negotiation, and paperwork. Always. We came to an agreement and they worked with us to get our desired payments. Then we went to the Volvo building to talk to Trey and write a check for our down payment. While we did that, Jio detailed the car and filled up the tank. When we were done he explained all the buttons and do dads. Overall, we got the car wanted and the payments we wanted. Everyone we came in contact with was very nice and personable. This is the fourth car we purchased at Hunter but our first new car. I'm extremely satisfied with everything. Worst service department, I took my car for recalls and service, while the service advisor was taking photos of my car i asked the manager who was looking at Facebook how much it would be to fit a tow hitch, without looking at me he said 799 and continued looking at Facebook, I told him he was almost double than his competitors and all he said was original parts. When picking up my car later that day they said that the car had a multi point inspection and listed that the filters needed changing and according to the paperwork everything else was good. I have no confidence that they did a check at all as it says my lights and windshield wipers were good when i knew for a fact that they were not as i had a bulb out in the front and my rear wiper was broken. They left my front seat dirty with debris where they pulled the cabin airfilter out and never cleaned it, there was no protective paper in the car. I dont beleive they even did the oil change at all seen as though they cpuld not even do the multi point inspection correctly. The Manager was rude and should not be in that position if he is going to be so dismissive of customers. Not impressed with them at all, they sent me a survey which i filled out about two weeks ago and still have not even had a apology. read more

I set an appointment to have maintenance done and a malfunctioning door lock repaired and they said they won't fix my lock system. They just want to do recalls and maintenance, nothing diagnostic. Very unreliable. I'm just going to my local mechanic and have him do everything. There's no sense in driving 12 miles if they are not going to do what I need done. The Hyundai service department is either severely understaffed or just doesn't value customer service. My car was under warranty so I had to get it fixed at a dealership, otherwise I would have left and gone to my local mechanic. They had my car for two months and when I picked it up it was STILL making the SAME noise I brought it in for. I'm not usually one to write bad reviews but that is totally unacceptable and probably unsafe. What did they even do? They claim to have replaced the transfer case but I don't see how that's possible given that the issue was not fixed. So sketchy. They said they test drove it but clearly the person who drove it wasn't paying attention, or just decided to ignore the sound. Terrible communication throughout this whole process and nearly impossible to get anyone on the phone who was willing to talk to me in detail about the repair. They were able to quickly get me right back into a loaner vehicle which I appreciated. read more

Service Department has Terrible communication and aggressive up selling of unnecessary products and services. They wasted two hours of my time, charged me $180 for a diagnostic test, and then did not fix the issue (multiple safety system warning lights on). But on the bright side, they did try to sell me a $26 bottle of Fuel System Cleaner, which they described as "Needs immediate attention", so I guess we can see what their priorities are. I dropped my car off because I had multiple indicator lights on: Traction Control, ABS, Auto Hold stuck on. The next day they looked at the car, then sent me a text that linked to some web app that showed a service had been performed: "HDBELE - BODY ELECTRICAL CONCERN" was the only description. The web app showed 4 more recommended services, and all four were tagged as "Needs Immediate Attention". The services were: (1) Wheel Bearing Replacement - Rear, (2) Fuel System Cleaner, (3) PCV Valve Replacement and (4) Spark Plug Replacement. There were no notes or explanations of what these services were or why I needed them. And, since the list included a bottle of fuel additive and trying to replace my spark plugs 12,000 miles before the owner's manual says they need to be replaced, I didn't take any of that seriously. Hey Hunter, maybe pick up the phone next time or fix your broken web app. So, based on that nonsense, I assumed that the amount they had charged me was for the repair I needed and were just trying to up-sell me a bunch of services. When I went to pick up the car, I found that they had done absolutely nothing to fix it. The $180 was just for a diagnostic test. But actually 1 (and only 1) of the four services they recommended was REQUIRED to fix the issue. Had they made that clear, instead of trying to sell me fuel additive and spark plugs that I didn't need, then they would have my money right now and I would be a happy customer. Instead, they were so busy trying to ring extra pennies out of me that they left all the dollars on the table. I bought my car from them new and have used them for all important service since. But never again. I'll go to the other Hyundai dealership in Asheville from now on for service and sales. read more

Took my car in for servicing after the oil, engine and battery light were coming on and no codes coming up. They charged me almost $500 for a crankshaft replacement because "that's usually what's wrong when these cars come in" even though I replaced it one year ago. I returned with the same problem and they kept it for almost 4 weeks and said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. They sent me home $500 in the trash. How does Hyundai not know how to fix a Hyundai????? I called Hyundai Corporate and they looked up the record for my car, nothing was really done for my car. I decided to take it to T&J Auto, and within a few hours were able to diagnose my car. Don't let Hunter Hyundai fool you with being "short staffed". T&J auto has only one mechanic right now and still managed to diagnose my car and fix the issue, turns out all they had to do was look under the hood and the issue was very simple, and was only charged $67. read more

As you can see above by the lack of stars my experience was extremely bad and next, I will explain why. On Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, my wife, best friend, and I all loaded up and drove to this dealership making it a 5 1/2 hour road trip to pick up my 2023 Genesis G70 You can imagine my initial excitement when I first saw it in person up close after viewing it online for weeks. While I spoke with one of the dealership members outside next to the car my best friend checked the tire treads, brakes, and rotors. It was during his brief inspection he quickly noticed that two of the rotors felt off once he touched them and shouldn't look like that for a newish car with under 20,000 miles on the odometer. I then checked them to see if I felt what he did and clear as day the feel and look were off. We brought it to the dealership member's attention who alerted the sales manager of the concern. The sales manager told us several times that since the car had been sitting for a while that's why it looked and felt that way but if you ride it for a bit the rust should fall off and even out the rotor. Right away that story made no sense to us but we went ahead with the test drive. The car felt nice until I slowed up to around 20-35mph and we all noticed (my wife, best friend, and I) how the car had a bad vibration to it guess what it was on the side that the dealership switched the 2 bad rotors to (drivers side and rear). Once I arrived back at the dealership we alerted the sales manager again that we felt a bad vibration from that side and we believed it was the rotors. He told us the same story and took it for a "test drive" himself. The sales manager came back in like 5-8 minutes and said he didn't feel anything and assured us once again it was just rust that would fall off once I took the car and drove back home. He knew we weren't buying that story and became visibly frustrated and irritated by our genuine concern for not only the purchase I was about to make for my new vehicle but for my safety on the journey back home. After being at the dealership for over 2 1/2 hours he was ready to give up on it altogether but before he did he brought in a mechanic to try and comfort me on the sale and that it's only rust on the rotors and that nothing is wrong with the vehicle. The sales manager now looked at me and said see there's nothing wrong with it now are you ready to sign the paperwork? We still weren't convinced and asked if I could at least get 1000 dollars taken off since those rotors will have to be replaced despite what you are saying and asked if I could get some new wiper blades since they looked like they could be replaced especially since the manager himself said the car had been sitting for awhile and under direct sunlight. That was too much to ask and the sales manager implied it was either a deal or no deal and that he wasn't going to budge on anything. Fast-forward to today Oct. 5, 2023 I took the 2023 Genesis G70 I purchased from the Fletcher, NC dealership to a Hyundai dealership where I am located. Before even inspecting my vehicle I told the mechanic the story that was told to me about the rust falling off and later evening out on its own. The face he made as well as laughter followed up by that doesn't make any sense said it all and reassured me that we weren't crazy. When I had him feel the same rotors that the NC dealership's manager and mechanic brushed off and lied about, he immediately noted that the fact it felt like it did mean it was warped badly and that trying to resurface it wouldn't even fix it. After the full inspection of the vehicle was completed the Genesis g70 that I purchased had an extremely dirty cabin air filter which would need to be replaced, wiper blades that were streaking up the windshield which needs replacement, and ALL rotors were warped which needed replacement and as a result of those being replaced brake pads are suggested to be replaced. Now, I have a vehicle I own not even a week and have a repair/maintenance bill for over 1,500. I'm extremely unsatisfied!! read more

Wow, but these guys were great to deal with. Super professional, helpful, AND during one of the worst times in history, or certainly in my memory, to buy a new car (Nov 2021), they treated me fairly, honestly, and gave me a fair and honest price on a new Kona. To put this in perspective, another Hyundai dealer (Hyundai of Asheville) added a $10,000 premium to the same car. Summary: Hunter Service, while congenial, does substandard work This review is in regard to the service department at Hunter for Subaru and Hyundai. I have used Hunter twice for warranty and non-warranty service in the past several years, both for a Subaru and later for a Hyundai. My parents have also used other Hunter service departments for other vehicle repairs (and have had similar experiences to those I'm about to describe). The service employees at Hunter are mostly pretty nice folks. Sometimes a bit too nice--on the phone they tend to overemphasize how much they want to make sure you're satisfied. So, at least they aren't rude. However, they are lousy at their actual repairs. My Subaru's shoddy repairs were only discovered years later, after the warranty had expired. They performed some body work on the vehicle after an accident and completely missed a serious problem with the axle. When it finally broke, the (other) repair shop was able to point out numerous examples of Hunter having cut corners in the original set of "fixes". Because neither I nor my parents are "car people", these are things we would not have known to check for ourselves. My most recent experience with them was about ten years later. I hadn't been living near Hunter for some time, but I ended up stranded in a town nearby with a Hyundai that wouldn't accelerate. I had forgotten about the poor workmanship of Hunter when directing the tow truck to the nearest Hyundai dealership. It took them nearly two weeks to acquire the necessary parts and replace my transmission. Once I was able to retrieve the vehicle, they had at least made it drivable again. However, within only a day or so, I noticed that their repairs had created a new problem with the brake pedal. I'm currently having my vehicle serviced again (elsewhere) in order to both fix the brake and correct any other lingering issues they may have either missed or introduced. In short, the next time I'm stranded in that region, I'll make the extra trip to downtown Asheville. Or maybe even South Carolina. It's that bad. read more
