After numerous texts and a ton of BS the salesman stopped responding to my messages on 5-12-26. June 15th he called me up finally and stated the previous owner didn't have the spare key anymore. I made an appointment, I got there on time. 2 hours later my car was not even seen by the technician. I called scheduling dept - Angela - and she stated "the appointment time was just a check in time" not the actual appointment time. Is this for real? ...she became very defensive when I continued asking questions about the appointment delay. She was unprofessional and was not able to manage this situation well. I had to take my car and leave after wasting 2 hours just waiting not knowing the time my car will be seen much less how long it will take. There is not consideration for people's time, also no respect for the schedule appointments. Anyway, I am not coming back. Lesson learned. read more

I'm in town for a few work meetings. On the drive up from Georgia, the low tire pressure light came on and of course it's night out, I'm panicked, and worried I'm going to get a flat tire on a section of the road where there's no shoulder. I'm staying at a hotel near the airport, and on my way there I drive past the Honda dealership! I know it's closed, so I knew I had to come by today. After trying my hand at filling up at gas stations and being confused why the light wouldn't go off, I made sure I got here before five. I was greeted by Gabby, which took away some of my anxiety and pained look of being at a dealership looking foolish and all for not knowing how my car works. She brought over Alex, one of the advisors and he explained to me what the issue was, why it happened, what to expect moving forward, and also how to keep an eye out moving forward if the light comes on again. Finally, he showed me how to reset the calibration so the light goes off! Many thanks to both Gabby and Alex at this dealership for taking a late walk in. They were professional, kind, and super helpful. On a day when I was so exhausted, I got to address a pain point and get this addressed so I don't panic on my drive back to GA tomorrow. Support this dealership! I didn't buy my Honda here but they helped me as if I was a lifelong customer, that tells you a lot. read more

I've owned Hondas for 30 years and have never had such a horrible experience as at Appletree. I took my car in for a recall to replace the fuel pump and for a state inspection. I was told it had to be there first thing in the morning, and then found out it would just sit all day until they got around to it. As I was driving home, I noticed the lights on the instrument panel were not working. That meant my cruise control, speed limit reading, lane departure, and other features weren't working. I called Appletree. They said it sounded like a coincidence; nothing they did could have caused my problem. My only choice was to bring the car back. They explained it would have to be there for 5 to 7 hours, and it would cost me $215 to run the diagnostics, plus labor and parts. While they were nice on the phone, they didn't attempt to problem-solve or show any accommodation. When I texted about my problem to Rich Luppo, Service Director, who had texted me, thanking me for bringing my car in, I got no reply. So I called a friend who understands cars and drives a Honda. He explained that all you have to do is push the button labeled MAIN on the steering wheel. He said in his experience, the mechanics turn that button off when they work on the car. My problem was solved in five minutes. I gave one star because the people are nice, but I will never take my car back. read more

Had a very poor experience with Apple Tree Honda of Fletcher, NC. I went there for the first time with my Honda Ridgeline for a few minor repairs and service (change oil, rotate tires, check my slow leak in a tire, and cut a new key). My 10am appointment lasted 4 hours and 15 minutes. The service manager never even came to see me during that time to tell me why there was such a delay. I had to go to him (he was 30 feet away from the waiting room) When I checked out, they didn't tell me that I would need to replace the tire (I read it on the printout when I got home). They didn't rotate the tires. There was no sticker on the windshield showing when my next oil change should be done...so I went to a mechanic who said the oil hadn't been changed. The new key takes 1 - 1 1/2 hours to complete. So, over 4 hours of waiting to get a new key and for them to look at a tire with a slow leak. Oh. And on the print out there were a bunch of other suggested repairs for my truck -- that they never pointed out when I left. I had to read them on the print out when I got home. Some of the suggested repairs were pretty significant...and should have been mentioned if only to give Apple Tree more business. I was very disappointed. Has anyone else had trouble with Apple Tree Honda? Maybe it was a one-time thing? I do not recommend Apple Tree Honda. read more

I called Scott Benson who sold me the car he suggested I talk to the service manager. I went back and the service manager dug around a small bin and gave me ONE old used key that fit my car wheels. He said that the mechanics will use the customers when theirs wear out? Well they certainly helped themselves to my car parts and kept a brand new set and made me feel like I was stupid and it was not big deal. Called Scott Benson again and no response. I just used Apple Tree Honda for the first time. I gave them a three because of how nice the people were to deal with. Both in the parts department and my service agent. They were both friendly and seemed to have a good handle on their jobs. That's the good part of the review. My repair rated out as a 1-1&1/2 hour job, of course they charged for 1&1/2 hours. I had my car in at 9:30 in the morning and was told it would be 1&1/2 hours and to check back then. 2:15pm and the car was finally done. As other reviews have previously stated, the appointment time means absolutely nothing. it's more like , this is the time we want you to bring the car in and we'll put you in line. From that point who knows when someone will get to your car. My car was not on the lift for more than 45 minutes max. This is not an issue with the staff, this is a dealership issue. They are responsible for how service is scheduled and the bogus appointment procedure bs. If I were just rating the service level , the average of 2 you see would be pretty accurate. I probably would not have chosen them, but I was here on vacation and needed it done quickly (haha) as we were scheduled to leave in a couple of days. read more

I was an out of state buyer and recently purchased a used car from this dealership. When the vehicle arrived it was inoperable and other equipment did not work (A/C, Radio, and Transmission). Contacted the dealership to ask why did not disclose any of these issues as being problems prior to my delivery and they stated it's an As Is purchase. But you advertise the vehicle with this equipment, no mention it is inoperable. (They were marketing to sell this vehicle for $19,000 over and above what they purchased the car for 8 month ago). As a first time customer I was highly disappointe with this place and don't ever wanna bring my car back here again. I scheduled an appointment for an oil change, tire rotation, and balance. Got there and an a hour into my car being serviced I received new that they strongly suggest I replace my breaks. So because I am no car expert I agreed to have them replac. About 2 hours later my car was ready to pick up. When I go to pick up my car the lady informs me that there was an accident with something and it resulted in my back passenger side door being dented and deeply scratched, but they covered it up with a paint pen.Which they did a horrible job trying to cover it. So as new time customer spending more than 500 dollars there I was pissed. I was given the bare minimum accommodation, which was "we will fix the scratches and dent." At this point I was outraged because I find it ridiculous that I bring you my car to be fixed and you damage my car and then expect me to still pay over 500 dollars for services where you ended up damaging my car that ruins the value in the long run. Then they saw that I was visibly upset and tried to say they washed and vacuumed my car as a sorry. Which I not surprised to see that, that we clean your car bs they told me was a lie. It was raining outside so my car was wet but tires looked dusty and dirty. Inside of the car hadn't been touched, so needless to say I was highly dissatisfied. read more

This review is for the service department. Was due for some service on my Honda, and Apple Tree was on the short list. I think I made a good call by coming here. It was VERY busy on the morning I came. I was not able to make an appointment, but was able to leave my car overnight, so I had no problems with an extended wait. Also, due to the number of services I needed, I was ok with a next-day pickup. Chris was my advisor and I enjoyed working with him. I had a list of 2-3 things I needed, and maybe 2-3 things I wasn't sure if I needed (note: I travel a TON, and I cherry-pick a lot of services from different places, and often times, I don't always have my records at hand). We got a list of things to run though, and I the techs would do what was needed. As we went down the list by item, there was an alignment that was on there that I wouldn't need (I just had one done recently), and it was taken off. Nice, as that could have easily gotten overlooked, done again, and charged to me. I wasn't sure about a coupon availability, as I saw some online offers, but not sure what would work for this trip. I picked up my car the next day, no issues, no troubles. I was able to use an offer to score a sweet discount as well. I unfortunately lost my business credit card shortly after dropping the car off, and was hoping to charge the services to my personal card at pick up, and then hopefully reverse them and charge them to my business card after receiving a replacement. The staff informed me that they were unable to do so. I was given some sort of legal-ese-ish verbiage about it; policy is policy, but I cannot fathom why this is something that can't be done...seems easy enough. Oh well. I bought a 2009 Honda Accord Sedan that LOOKED great, excellent shape, they fixed it up, sun roof, really sweet, ready to downsize and needing a dependable car to drive to Georgia, as I recently picked up a contract with a major commercial firm in Georgia examining titles (real-estate paralegal). Bought it , put $2,000 down, financed $12,000 and thought - Wow, I'm in a Honda. Only 30 days after the purchase of my new used car, the Cylinder-3 misfired due to a piston ring issue and now my Honda Accord is in the repair shop with gob-tons of damage (a total of $5,500) and no recourse except to suck it up and pay $5500 for a car that I just bought which should have been in merchantable condition. The piston ring issue is a known Honda defect and had I done more research I would never have bought that year but it should not have been sold to me in a condition where it broke down immediately. They say you get what you pay for; instead of fixing a problem by buying from a company I thought had a good reputation; instead of finding a solution by way of a good vehicle, i now have a bigger problem. I have to pay $5500 on top of the $14,000 I paid, for which I could have gotten a new car under warranty. Chris and the other salesman who sold it to me were very quick to jump on me for not purchasing the warranty but seriously, I did not expect to be sold a car that would IMMEDIATELY break. My mother has been in tears, I am losing money daily by not being able to get to courthouses - as that is my job, and the whole experience has been emotionally and financially devastating. Would never recommend and I am highly suspicious of their business practices - either that or they were so desperate for inventory in this climate that they sold me a used car with known defects hoping it would not fall apart and/or I would not complain. I have asked for some kind of remedy considering this is misfortune all the way around and they have not offered to cover one cent or give me a discount toward it. Super disappointed and would never recommend this dealership The remedy I was offered was to turn around and buy a new car from them, eat the $6,000 for the motor and engine work/piston hinge replacement and then have a $10,000 downpayment on a new car that I cannot afford. We then Proceeded inside and after about another 20 minutes standing around inside I had to eventually tell someone we were there to buy a car if they didn't realize that already. Eventually we were able to see one. We were after a civic but they only had about three in stock. After sitting down to talk numbers their first offer was sticker price so We walked out. The next day we went to Greenville and purchased a car at a great price, and even got to choose out of their inventory of about 200; not to mention everyone was more than helpful. I went in for service on my 2016 Honda HRV. This maintenance included oil, transmission, brake, and fuel induction services. As well as I had a couple other issues that I explained that I was hearing a rattle coming from the front of the car when I hit bumps. Also the steering was sticking, and the steering wheel was not returning. And there was also loud sound coming from when you turned the wheel to the right or the left from center even sitting still in the car. All of which I knew something was seriously wrong and was not normal. I had recently had to have new struts put on my car that were not from Honda. But were the best aftermarket struts that were available from O'Reily's. After waiting at least a couple hours or more without an update on the status of my car, I finally had to go and ask the service advisor what was going on. Come to find out the, the technician was only focused on the struts. It is my belief that they didn't get the job, and wanted to rip me off for 907$ to re-replace struts that were perfectly fine and were installed correctly by the garage that I had to have them done at while out of town when my grandmother was dying of cancer. I did not believe them for one second and made a few phone calls to find out that I was being mislead. After speaking with not 1, not 2, but 3 different ASE techs about my issues, they confirmed their were further problems. I got back from work the following week, and stopped by another garage to have them take a drive and look at the car. After he drove the car and listened to the car and the issues described (something the dealership didn't even bother to do), he put it on the rack. And about 2 minutes later he was able to find out what the real issue was. And that issue was my inner tie-rod ends. The front wheels on the car had about an inch or more of play on either side. Any tech that knew what he was doing and actually paid attention to what I had described would have been able to discover the problem. This was causing my steering issues, noise/rattle, etc. Not to mention the fact that the Apple Tree Technician should have never let my vehicle leave the service department, due to the seriousness of the tie-rod end issues. I had a work trip that I had to drive 10 hours round trip that following week after my vehicle was serviced. They not only put my vehicle at risk, THEY PUT MY LIFE AT RISK!!! This is completely unnacceptable, and they should not be allowed to be in operation if they are just going to non-chalantly put someone's life at risk on the road, just so they can make more money and take advantage of innocent people. I could have died on the road not being able to control the steering had one of those tie-rod ends snapped or came loose. I will be filing an official complaint with Honda Corporate, as well as a complaint with the Better Business Bureau regarding this. I even called and left a message for the Apple Tree Honda Service Manager to call me back to discuss options, and how we are going to come to an acceptable resolution. Though I am not sure how you can come to an acceptable resolution when you played russian roulette with my life!!! At the very least, Apple Tree owes me a complete refund for all of the maintenance, time, aggravation, and diagnostic fees paid for sitting around the dealership for almost 6 hours in total waiting on them to not even fix the serious issues. It's pitiful and a disgrace. I will never give my business to them in any way. I will additionally go out of my way to ensure that everyone I know, and everyone locally knows what kind of business they are and how they treat their customers. Finally I would like to mention I also received a rude phone call from my service advisor after I filled out a negative survey based on my experience, and information that I found out after that I left. He had no right to tell me not to come back and ask for him, and the surveys are on them only. No, there are other questions in there that do not pertain to the service advisor. I will be speaking to his manager as well for that unacceptable behavior. I await your prompt and proper response, as well as my refund and an apology like you've never been prepared to give before. read more

So I get a letter from Honda about a recall on my 2019 Honda Pilot about the backup camera and something with it not showing up the image that is actually there. Clearly a safety issue. As a matter of fact, the recall states it is a safety issue. I call my local dealership who I do my services with (Apple Tree) to schedule an appointment to repair this. It will be 8 months before they can fit this recall in, April 2024. I guess I will need to drive around in our Honda Pilot until they can fit us in there schedule for this recall? I don't know, but seems like a possible lawsuit is in the making if this is how they are treating there customers. Prefer to have payment for repairs over taking care of customers who actually buy Hondas from their dealerships. My husband and I were going to help our daughter purchase her new Honda. We were driving from out of state to Fletcher (close to our daughter). We contacted the dealership several days ahead of our arrival and told them what model Honda we were interested in. We exchanged emails prior to our trip. When my husband arrived, he was told they had none of the models available that we were interested in. It would have been nice to have been told that prior to our trip as it was over a 6 hour drive. Would not recommend, maybe they've had change in leadership recently? Was just there last Friday and after leaving multiple messages requesting return phone calls and no response, I will leave my honest review. Attempted to schedule appointment for oil change, left message and no answer. I called back 24 hours later and was able to speak to someone to get it scheduled. I told the technician upon my arrival that I wanted a quote for changing the belt and water pump. He was pleasant and quoted me but said he wasn't 100% sure. Oil was changed and they called letting me know my car was ready. My service advisor Shawn was no help. He didn't have any information about my vehicle. No recommendations, no updates regarding status of tires, brakes, filters, etc. It's a 1998 Honda Accord and they didn't have any recommendations for it. He said "must be in good shape then." Go to the Honda dealership in Johnson City. They give you a print out of your tires condition, brake pad wear, their recommendations and what was done. Shawn couldn't even tell me what was done to the vehicle that day. Last year I took my 2018 Honda Accord there and they recommended cabin air filters, engine air filter and I'm sure other things because they always recommend you upgrade and do something. I thought it was very odd they didn't have anything printed out with details of service or recommendations. We purchased this beater a few weeks ago to have something to drive for work since I drive a lot. I know nothing about it except that it likely needs a cabin air filter because the vents are putting out a musty smell and that the car deviates to one side, likely out of alignment with uneven tread on the tires. I didn't say anything, instead I asked Shawn for a detailed quote for a new belt and water pump as this was likely due on the vehicle and I had no previous records. Instead, he asks if it's a V6?! Then tells me he's not sure if it would need a belt or chain. Doesn't look any further into it, doesn't schedule me for anything, etc. He takes my money and tells me to have a good day. At this point, I have no faith in this dealership and wanted to even make sure my car was serviced because the service advisor didn't seem to know anything and my receipt had minimal info. For background, I drove over an hour to this dealership because I wanted my Honda serviced by Honda. You would get more personalized, detailed service from Valvoline or the Fast Lane at Ford of Asheville. 15 minutes after leaving, I debriefed my husband on my experience and he was floored that the advisor asked if my 98 Accord was a v6. He too had some concerns and was disappointed with my lack of quote for future services. So I attempted to call back multiple times to speak to the service manager. Funny thing, the service manager's VM box is full so you can't leave messages. The sweet receptionist forwarded me back to the service advisors and no one answered. She took down my name and phone number for the service manager, floor or sales manager and the GM. No one has ever called back. I was there in September and my experience was fine. Friday was not the case. I was more than willing to take off work, travel and pay extra for Honda technicians, service and expertise but this was much less than a shell station quick lube with lacking customer service. They've set the bar pretty low. You would think management would get involved as they're losing tons of money by not attempting to get services scheduled. We went to Apple Tree Honda knowing we wanted to purchase a new CR-V. The saleswoman who took us for a test drive could not have been more apathetic. We had to ask many questions about the car's features, as she did nothing to promote or sell it. (I had a premonition of this when, while chatting, I asked her how long she had been selling cars, and she replied "Two years--two years too long!") After the test drive, she was showing us to the door, when I had to ask her if she could give us a price for the car. Again, she came back with a figure, but did nothing to suggest she would negotiate with us. We also had no follow-up phone call from her trying to pursue our business. Being turned off by the sales staff, we tried Apple Tree's internet sales department. We sent them the data for the car we wanted, received a "thank you" response acknowledging our request was received, and....NOTHING, after one week of waiting. This seemed crazy, so we sent a second request, received a second acknowledgement, and......NOTHING, after yet another week. Needless to say, we were completely turned off (and baffled) by this dealership. I know they have a monopoly in this area, but really??? We have now purchased the CR-V we wanted from the AAA buying service (which we discovered by fluke after our disastrous Honda dealership experience). The sales rep for AAA couldn't have been more helpful and responsive, keeping in close touch with us throughout the car-searching and buying process. Highly recommend them!! read more

(This was awhile ago- hope things have changed), but it needs to be said. They denied to repair a legit recall item which then put my pregnant wife in danger of her vehicle lighting on fire. Absolute worst experience, Apple Tree Honda's service department was inhumane, brought lies, The recall item could cause smoke and then could next potentially light the car on fire. The car had already started to smoke, the next potential thing to happen was for the car to light on fire, so I even towed the car there to get it worked on. They held onto the car for so long just to eventually lie to us and say that it is not a recall item. We know that it was a real recall item because directly after picking it up we drove to another Honda dealer an hour away, Forrest City Honda and without skipping a beat or any question they took it and fixed it at no cost as Honda asked their dealers to do. I would give them a negative 5 if I could since they put my pregnant wife in danger. I imagine that they did this because they would make more money off repairing over priced repairs instead of what Honda would pay them to fix the recall. I was dealt with dishonestly in my search for a new car. A friend had purchased a new CR-V from a dealer in Hickory and got a good deal. I contacted Apple Tree in Asheville and forwarded the texts indicating I wanted the same deal. They said they could do that they had 2 cars that would fit the model / trim and price I was asking. I warned them that I've been treated poorly by other dealers - trying to add "just because" money on the end of the contract and etc, the warning was that I will walk if that happens. I arrived, we test drove a similar model (but NOT one of the ones that the sales person had texted me photos of) (why not???). I said, fine, so let's look at the actual cars you are offering. One was orange and one black. It turns out the orange one was a demo and sales was pushing that one, I said, I decided I wanted the black one, and was told that one would be $300 more. So they were going to start the long B...S...t process of holding me up int he show room with cycles of sales person coming back from manager, but I said forget it and let them know I was leaving. Having been targeted with bait and switch immediately I decided I am not going to give them additional chances to rip me off with financing and trade in. The price difference, $300, is NOTHING to a dealership. Nothing. Invoice prices? Meaningless. the manufacturer gives generous rebates to companies who move quota numbers of vehicles. They probably only pay 50 - 70% of the "invoice price". It is hard to believe a dealership would be dishonest in this way and lose a customer, risk a bad review and since they are the closest Honda dealer I would probably have to have certain service performed there - and that's not going to happen under the circumstances. This review is for the PRE-OWNED department at Apple Tree Honda. This review has NOTHING to do with Apple Tree Acura. In February 2018, I decided to sell my Mercedes-Benz G500, which I had owned for nearly two years. While I was online, I decided to get an instant cash value for my vehicle, and was given a market value price. I work nearly every day being in the medical field, so my time is valuable to me. Almost immediately, I received an email containing the market value price from Apple Tree and was pleased with the amount and the ability to process this online. The next morning, I received two emails from Preston Peters and a phone call that actually woke me up. I hate being woken up, I need my sleep. Over the next week I received more emails from Preston asking me to bring my Mercedes-Benz in for an appraisal, as well as phone calls. Okay, I get your point, you want to see my car and you want to make a sale. I will bring it in when I have the time. Simple enough? I brought my Mercedes-Benz to Apple Tree in February and spoke to Josh and another salesman. Now, to spare you the time, my parents and I have owned Acura's and Honda's for over ten years. I know they are great cars and I was content on just outright selling my Mercedes-Benz and not getting another vehicle. I would have traded my Mercedes-Benz towards an Acura MDX, something I already have, I just prefer the newer models. I eventually changed my mind and decided to just sell my Mercedes-Benz. Now, a Mercedes-Benz G500 is an off-roading vehicle. It's literally like a tank on wheels, and also includes wheel locks for off-roading. There are three wheel locks in the vehicle, and these are designed ONLY for off-roading. It literally says DO NOT USE WHEEL LOCKS ON PAVED ROADS below the buttons in the vehicle. That clearly went in one ear and out the other with the salesman who appraised my car, considering my wheels were locked. Apple Tree then had to call EuroSpec to come and diagnose the problem with my Mercedes-Benz. (EuroSpec is the best Mercedes-Benz service in Asheville, just a tip). EuroSpec fixed my car in five minutes, but I wasn't very pleased about the situation. Irregardless, the two salesmen said they would make a few calls and get back to me the next day. Did they? No. I was the one who actually went to Apple Tree the next day and asked and was given a lowball offer, nearly two thousand dollars less than the market value price. I declined the offer and left. They said they would contact more buyers, something I assumed they would do. I received a text message a few days later saying they had a buyer interested and wanted to see more pictures, something of which I provided to them. Do you think I heard anything else after this? Nope! It is March, nearly a month since then and I have received absolutely NO communication since then, besides being consistently pestered by Preston Peters through email. I honestly wish I NEVER even attempted to fool with this mistake of a business. This is how I look at things: Communication and Honesty are the two big things I look for in customer service, something that is apparently rare these days, (especially at Apple Tree). If you have terrible communication and don't put any effort into trying to make a sale and catch a buyers attention, what makes you think they are going to give you their business? If you provide them with lowball offers and don't match the market value price that was provided on your own website, then what is the point of even having an option like that on your website? This entire experience has left a bad taste in my mouth about Apple Tree, a place I will not be returning to and a place I will not be bringing any of my business, nor anyone in my family for business. It's not that hard to make an effort and communicate with someone who was interested in making a sale. Pay attention Apple Tree, you're really losing Asheville's business. read more

I had been shopping for a car for months. After test driving several makes and models at various dealerships, I chose a Honda HR-V and made the long drive to Apple Tree Honda's Pre-Owned business. I had mentally prepared myself, so I wasn't particularly surprised when the salesman was slightly condescending. He was resistant to negotiating, citing that the vehicle was "Certified" and therefore worth the higher price than nearby dealerships. I continued the process and found the finance staff to be professional and helpful. We finally settled on a price and I invested in "Data Dots". In hindsight, I would not purchase them again since my insurance company has never heard of them and law enforcement investigators don't know to look for them. Whomever applied the "Data Dots" was sloppy and careless, leaving unsightly streaks of adhesive smeared all over the car. Lesson learned on my part. I gave a trade-in vehicle during the negotiations so my husband was asked to stop in and sign the title for the trade in. While there, he specifically asked if my new car would come with two key fobs and was assured that all "Certified" vehicles come with two keys. The salesman even gave us a checklist of all the things that made my Honda "Certified" and reiterated that I would not regret the investment. The paperwork was signed and I was ready to go, but the car was not. It needed to be detailed so the salesman recommended I go enjoy a meal and return to pick it up. I was told more than once that the car just arrived on the lot so they had not had time to clean it. I found that statement to be untrue since I had been watching the vehicle on-line for a week and it had a date on the windshield documenting its inventory date from weeks prior. I left for a meal yet when I returned the vehicle was still disgracefully dirty. (I found dirty napkins stuck under the center console, for example.) Eager to take my car home, I elected to clean it myself. I loaded cheerfully into my car and held out my hand in anticipation of the keys. There was only one. I was told, quite matter-of-fact, that I would have to come back on Wednesday at noon to have a second key made. What?! Wasn't it certified? I left the lot and made the drive home to embarrassingly admit to my husband that I had been duped. Wednesday came. I took the day off work to make the long drive back. I called ahead to assure that my time would not be wasted. Despite the promise, I packed a lunch just in case. Sure enough, I was met at the door by the salesman who regretfully informed me that the key lady was not there. He recommended, again, that I go out to eat and wait. I informed him that I packed a lunch to save money. I also took the opportunity to explain to him and the other salesman at the counter that they need to be more respectful of people's time. I had to miss a day of work and drive a long distance again (thank goodness the HR-V is great on gas mileage). I had my doubts that the two keys were the only lie told to me on my "Certified" check. The salesman said "Yes, but look what you got!" Yes, sir, I got a nice car but the dealership got $18,000! I left and took my son to picnic and walk around the Walmart while we waited. I received a call that the key lady had arrived. However, when I returned, the salesman was terse and rude. He took my key, said some snarky things, and informed me that he would refill my gas tank for my drive. The final straw came when he brought back my two keys. He stormed over and said "Had you not made such a scene earlier, I would have done something for you. Those other salesmen couldn't have helped you so it was no good to talk in front of them." Scene? No raised voice, no name calling, no personal insults were lobbied by me. In fact, I said to him multiple times, "I'm not mad at you, but I am mad." On top of that, where was I supposed to speak with him? HE met ME at the front counter. I am not only a professional woman who can articulate a complaint without making a "scene", but my son was with me and I had no intention of exposing him to drama. I felt distinctly like I was being spoken to like a naughty child. I am absolutely certain that, had the same complaints been made by my husband, he would have been treated very differently. I found it most ironic that early in our interactions the salesman disclosed a surprisingly high number indicating a majority amount of female automobile buyers. I would caution that if the majority of your customers are females, please hire sales people who possess the ability to treat woman fairly. In summary, I am pleased with the vehicle I bought. Some parts of my experience were better than I expected (thank you to the men in finance and paperwork), some were what I expected (and I still hate haggling), and some parts were so negative that I needed a couple weeks to get over being mad. read more
