This was the first time my husband and I purchased a vehicle together, and Auto Advantage turned what should have been an exciting milestone into a complete nightmare. We finalized the paperwork and traded in our vehicle, but left the new car with them so they could detail it and do a final look-over. Instead, they discovered major mechanical issues that would "cost them too much money to fix," essentially rendering the deal dead. To make matters worse, we left the dealership with absolutely no paperwork the first time around because, "quote unquote," they were putting it in the car--a car we never even got to take home. The communication following this was non-existent. The General Manager didn't even have the decency to call us to explain why they couldn't deliver the car we just bought. We had to repeatedly blow up their phones and drive up to the dealership multiple times just to get basic answers. Despite the fact that they had our money, our trade-in, and no car to give us, we actually had to ASK for a loaner vehicle so we weren't left stranded. What made the situation even worse was that at no point did the General Manager offer a sincere apology. Despite the dealership selling us a vehicle they ultimately couldn't deliver, holding our trade-in, forcing us to chase down answers, and creating a situation that resulted in multiple credit inquiries, he never once acknowledged the inconvenience or took responsibility for the dealership's mistakes. Instead of apologizing, he chose to speak down to us and attempt to justify the situation. A simple, genuine apology would not have fixed everything, but the complete lack of accountability spoke volumes about how little they value their customers. The General Manager's behavior was utterly patronizing. He talked down to me while attempting to condescendingly "explain" how auto loans work. What he didn't realize is that I have worked in banking for over five years and literally processed loans for a living. His attempt to lecture me was not only insulting but incredibly unprofessional--especially considering that because they tanked the first deal, they forced us to have our credit run multiple times just to try and fix their mess. For a GM to lecture a banking professional while actively damaging their credit due to his own inventory failures is laughable. The first finance guy we dealt with was incredibly rude and tried to rush us through everything. However, the only reasons we did not pull our money and take our business elsewhere immediately are because of our salesperson, Coby, the Sales Manager, and Sam, the second finance manager. Sam was absolutely fantastic. He made sure he fully explained everything and ensured we actually left with all of our paperwork in hand this time. Coby also worked tirelessly alongside the sales manager to advocate for us and try to make a broken situation right. It's also worth mentioning that we weren't originally working with Coby. The first salesperson we dealt with seemed to lose interest in helping us the moment we stated our budget was under $10,000 and quickly passed us off, apparently deciding we weren't worth his time. Ironically, we ended up spending nearly $10,000 more than our original budget and had every intention of purchasing two additional vehicles in the near future. That opportunity disappeared entirely because of the way we were treated. The fact that Coby stepped in, treated us with respect, and worked tirelessly on our behalf only made the difference between him and the rest of the dealership staff even more obvious. Coby, Sam, and the sales manager deserve a massive raise--and honestly, a much better company to work for. As for the rest of Auto Advantage and its upper management? I accidentally filled out their "Prequalify in seconds!" link on their website thinking it was a pre-qualification. It's actually a full credit application. I wanted to see a specific $15k car from their website but it wasn't at the lot the two days I tried to see it. I explained I had mistakenly filled out the application and asked them to please not run my credit until I could see the car, but Brett said it had already been run and they needed a paycheck stub. I sent it, and only then did I get instant credit notifications about 5 minutes later - so I'm 99.99% sure they ran it after I asked them not to. When I arrived at the lot the second time, I was told the car I came to look at "has too many issues, and I wouldn't want that one anyway." I was upfront about my budget (the car I came to see was just under $15k), but he tried to put me in $20k cars. I wasn't interested, so he dumped me off on his manager and didn't speak to me again. The manager came over with the same spiel, and when it was clear there were no other cars there I was going to buy, he told me a $500-$600 car payment is the norm, and he didn't know what he could do for me. Well, it would have been nice to see the $15k car I wanted to see in the first place, not have three new credit inquiries, and not be made to feel unreasonable for not wanting to stretch my budget. read more

I was looking to trade-in my '22 Silverado Dually. I filled out an online appraisal, which listed the truck's value at $57,000. The KBB private-party value is listed at $65,000-$70,000 for this vehicle, so I was not interested. Brett called me later and asked if I could come in for an appraisal. I explained to him that the online appraisal was way too low and that I'm not interested if their appraisal will be close to that. He said that is just an online service that they use and that value is not completely accurate. He asked what I am looking to sell if for, and I told him my number. He said that he is very interested in my truck and wants to get his appraiser's hands on it, so I agreed to come in later in the afternoon. I show up to the dealership and a salesman meets me outside. I give him my name and phone number and he tells me to wait and he will talk to Brett. He comes back out about one minute later and tells me that they said to just offer me $52,000 - $53,000. I told him that's not even close to the online appraisal I was given and no one even looked at my truck. The salesman just stood there, and didn't know what to say. So, I just wasted a one-hour round trip and walked out. I have no idea what the buying experience is like, so buy at your own risk. read more

Another salesman, Ryan, on the other hand... Not pleasurable to deal with. He was the salesman that came in to close our deal. As others have mentioned; he was very condescending in my dealings with him. The finance manager that I dealt with (I think Paul was his name), was nice, but again as others have mentioned very pushy with the extended warranties. He also spoke a lot and very fast which was very distracting when trying to read and sign all of the important paperwork at the end of a long day. The rest of the financial team was very flexible with me to take a down payment to hold the car because I live 6 hours away. After the sale, Robert in service helped with a cosmetic issue near the trunk. I missed this small dent on inspection. It looked like a shadow. auto advantage was under no obligation to fix it. We had an excellent experience with Auto Advantage in July 2023. We purchased a 2017 Buick Encore Preferred II. Everyone was very nice - no pressure and no gimmicks. We also purchased the extended warranty and we understand that failure to maintain routine car maintenance could cancel the warranty. This is something negative reviewers may possibly have misunderstood. Cameron Sawell was our salesman and we found him to be friendly, knowledgeable, and definitely on top of the sale without being pushy. Jason was also an excellent person to talk to as well as the financial guy. Between he and Jason we felt we definitely understood the warranty and we got the financing we wanted. Another reason I'd recommend Auto Advantage is the documented altruism of the company and the employees. It's part of their culture. You will find Auto Advantage to be a good place for buying a used car. These guys are local folks and treat you like a neighbor. I believe women should not be concerned about buying a car alone here. Do your homework online and be prepared. You won't be pressured but they ARE in business to sell you a vehicle, just be prepared. I bought a 2009 Chevy 2500HD that was taken in on trade from someone who had used a tuner to delete emissions to try and bypass particulate filter issues the tuner was not left in the vehicle and the vehicle was not checked and issue was not corrected within accordance to DMV and EPA emissions laws and Aito Advantage has refused to fix my vehicle leaving me with a 700.00 a month payment on a driveway ornament. This place does not care about ethics in business all they want is your money I would strongly advise NOT buying anything here. I am taking steps to get the DMV , and the EPA involved as well as the Better Business Bureau. People like this should not be in business have tried to talk to these people and have gotten no Cooperation what so ever and in fact was laughed at and told to have a nice day. All I can say is be smart and shop for a vehicle anywhere but here. If you want an honest dealership dont go here. I understand that used cars/trucks can have things wrong with them but needing a new motor? They give you a 90 day warranty for power train but do everything they can so you dont use it. They lied to us telling us that the truck was driven in the red zone, not true. Verified by our mechanic. Then they said that we were over the allowed mileage, which we weren't. We showed them the sales papers. Then they said that the timing chain wasn't covered. We called the insurance company and they told us it was. We had been warned by friends and colleagues not to buy from them. Boy did we learn our lesson. read more
