Stopped in for lunch based on recommendations. It is a small restaurant in a strip mall, but don't let that stop you. It appears to be family owned and the people were very friendly, restaurant was cute and clean. They had a decent sized lunch menu and the food was good. Fast service! Would recommend! read more

OK I like this place because there CLEAN ! Like really clean, fast and friendly. My only complaint is a personal preference I like zucchini, green beans, book chop like FRESH vegetables in my dishes and they seem to stick the the carrot, celery, water chestnut situation...think I'll ask if other vegetables can be added to my order next time....as I will be returning. read more

As a former Springfield native, I've been on a mission to find a decent Springfield-style cashew chicken since moving to Kansas City. Anyone from that area knows how specific and hard to replicate it is. While Hunan Garden's version isn't identical, it's easily the best rendition I've found so far and a great substitute for when I'm missing home! The chicken itself was crispy and delicious, and the flavor was spot-on, though it was a little on the sweeter side compared to what I'm used to. It came with a generous side of white rice, and of course, my husband and I had to order some crab rangoons to go with it. The staff here is always so friendly and welcoming. Even though the restaurant is small, they're always bustling with to-go orders, which speaks to how popular they are. If you're from Springfield or just curious about the famous dish, this is definitely a great place to try it out! read more

Hunan Garden - Cashew chicken - Springfield style - Chinese Near Me - Gladstone, Missouri

I enjoyed the beef chowfon. Their menu is Americanized, but when I asked for the beef chow fund, it was Asian style with the white rice noodles, even though a white rice noodle was not on their menu. I was pleasantly surprised. read more

Trash .. food smelled spoiled and old. Never again . They are nice people tho. Food just isn't good .

I got my meal to go so I can't say much about dining in. I purchased the following items: Crab Rangoon, General Chicken, Hunan Beef, & Combo Lo-mein. I paid a total of $58.31, which seems a bit on the pricey side, but that's pretty much normal everywhere. My least favorite item was by far the lo-mein. It tasted odd & too much like reused oil. The rest of the proteins were fine. Nothing was outstanding, and I believed it to be average. The service was great & quick. I'll most likely be back simply due to convenience read more

I'm not sure what to say. The food was about the same price as other takeout options, but my wife and I were both disappointed in the portion sizes for the cost. Quality, but probably won't be back. read more

We tried dine-in service. The restaurant had a constant stream of takeout but we were the only table dining in. Service was friendly and attentive. The food was excellent and dinner portions are big. Soup and appetizers are ala cart so we ordered the family dinner. The soup was excellent and the appetizer platter included 6 items per person, including a rib, egg roll, crab Rangoon, shrimp, chicken, and satay beef on a little flaming grill. We had kung pao, General Tao, and orange chicken. Had lunch leftovers the next day. read more

Ordered for first time tonight and drove quite a ways to pick it up based on 4-5 reviews but it was kinda just meh.... Our usual place was closed tonight and was craving egg drop soup. Thankfully the soup was great. Hot and fresh and flavorsome. Egg roll was chewy and didn't taste quite right like maybe it was yesterday's egg roll? My go to is always Moo Goo Gai pan and eh. Not enough chicken, thin sliced and it tasted a bit like stew which unfortunately I hate. So this was the reason for my 3. My husband got the green bean chicken and he liked it a lot, very tasty and fresh and his fried rice was great. So my rating is really more like 3.5 but that's not an option. Service was great and nice ambience from what I could tell to eat in. read more

I ordered one day ahead for catering. I had ordered 12 orders of crab Rangoon, vegetable chow mein, and shrimp fried rice. They had good flavor to everything. The restaurant was clean and the staff was nice and accommodating. I will be back to order more soon! read more

Absolutely the cleanest Chinese restaurant (or any restaurant for that matter) I've ever been in. Friendly attentive service. The food is expertly prepared and beautifully plated. Served family style so the portions are huge. Some of the best orange chicken I've ever had. Great "date night" restaurant. Wonderful atmosphere. Definitely coming back. read more

Hunan Garden is a very cute and tiny restaurant that offers dine in and carry out, the staff are friendly from the moment you walk into the door and offer exceptional costumer service. The prices are similar to other local chinese restaurants but the food compared to those other restaurants doesn't rank to high, definitely mediocre, not to say that it tasted bad but it definitely felt like it was missing something. Overall It's a good spot to get a quick bite but It wouldn't be my first choice. read more

I've eaten here twice now. It's a nice little place with pretty decent food. The General's chicken was a bit too sweet and lacked some heat, but it was brought out fast and fresh. The crab rangoon was actually really nice! The service was perfect, too. And it felt clean and pleasant in the dining area. Good for when you're craving Chinese in the area. read more

The food was good not great. My partner and I each tried different plates and they were both average. However the service was excellent.

Really expensive for what we got. Did online order but still had to wait 10+ minutes ...

We have been coming here for years and it was always incredibly good until they reopened after COVID. I don't know if the couple that originally owned this place are retired, if they just happen to not be there when we go or if a supplier has changed. Either way we never see that couple anymore and that correlates to when the quality of the food started to decline. It's still not bad but it's not great like it used to be. The service is still great, everyone is nice and it's always clean. We just wish whatever changed would go back to how it was. read more

Generous portion sizes, delicious food. Our go-to Chinese food spot. Highly recommend.

I was looking for something a little different. It's been a very long time since I've eaten Chinese cuisine. In doing my research. I kept seeing a lot of people talking up Hunan Garden. So I drive on over and check it out. When I arrive, I step into a small, but warm and inviting space. One of the first things that I noticed was how orderly the place seemed to be. Every chair, napkin, glass and piece of flatware were perfectly placed. I was greeted at the door and taken to a nice and comfortable booth. I ordered a beer and began to study the menu. For the appetizer I ordered "Egg Rolls". For the main course, I ordered, Prawn with Ginger Sauce from the "Chef's Specialties Menu." Sitting back and waiting patiently I am soon rewarded with the egg rolls. Piping hot, crispy, and loaded with cabbage and meat I grab some hot mustard sauce and dove in! After clearing my appetizer plate, they bring out colorful and beautiful plate of prawns and broccoli smothered in a tomato ginger sauce. Now, the menu says this is a spicy dish, I didn't think that it was spicy. With chop sticks in hand, I dig in. The prawns were tender and the broccoli, crunchy and warm all the way through. The tomato ginger sauce had great flavor. A pleasant and tasty dish that I highly recommend. I left stuffed. read more

My absolute favorite for Chinese. This is the only place I go. I particularly love the crab Rangoon. Prices seem very fair and I've always had good service.
