Well now. I've been back to Sandinistas plenty since my last penning, and I have to admit, in all…read morethat time I'd only back for drinkies. Excellent, raucous, rambunctious, drinkies. The kind where you probably tried to dance on a table, the kind where you definitely felt as though your neck was broken the next day from head banging, the kind where you almost certainly meet a squadron on new best friends because you're having that good a time. (And it's as much to do with the awesome clientele, as the drunkenness, I can tell you.) So, yes. Go to Sandinista for drinks. I know, it's always busy on a weekend. But once you get in there you'll have an amazing time, I'm certain of it. The music policy includes all the classics, something to suit most tastes, without venturing down the processed pop route in any shape or form. They also have regular live music, I believe, which is also commendable. However, you mightn't have noticed, they also serve food. What's that? Yes. Where have you been?! (That question is mostly directed at my own foolish self.) They serve the most excellent tapas. Of course, you can go down the route of fajitas, and such like, but on this occasion I wanted a range of foods to stuff. Oh my word. So, firstly, a special mention must be made of the mushrooms in peppercorn sauce. They were absolutely flipping divine - perfectly cooked, soaked in flavour, and the sauce was out of this world. The meatballs were also fabulous, with a delicious tomato sauce, and the garlic bread was beautiful. The crispy pork belly was wonderful, and came with an amazing apricot (?) compote (?!). The patatas were also addictively tasty, especially with melted cheese and spring onion. Of course, the service was fantastic, as ever, but the discovery that there's yet another place to eat fantastically made, freshly cooked, delicious bites is the thing I'll be shouting about for the moment. Dishes come in around £4, which makes it incredibly affordable to try a few different things, and perhaps even splash out on one of their yummy cocktails. Of course, there's the danger that you'd go for tea and not quite make it out until 4am, but hey -it wouldn't be such a bad thing would it? In fact, top idea Batman, Sherlock and Brian Cox, you geniuses. Even the door signage says, "You can check out any time you like but you can never leave." Of course, I'm thinking The Eagles must have been to Leeds. And, given half the chance, I'd say this to be true. I checked-in, but my mind clearly hasn't left them yet. Nom.

I don't think you could say anything bad about sandis. They also have an awesome menu so you could pop in for your dinner! In fact you should do that, yes you! Sandis weekend nights have music for everyone but none of it is cheesy ,this always seems to make for a lovely crowd of people. Weekdays are nice and chilled. They normally have a few bands on a Wednesday night and they're always good. Sandis seem to have a good vetting system! Sandinista is awesome i recommend going there everyday

Oh. My. Word. If…read moreyou're after decadence, this is your huckleberry. If you're after the cool slightly kitsch vibe, akin to Big Trouble In Little China, let's go Lopan hunting. (The weird columns with columns revealed underneath give me that impression.) If you're after a feast fit for warriors, modern ones who traverse the landscape of Leeds, then x marks the spot just here. I've been but the once, but that was enough to leave me yearning for more. The occasion was a friend's birthday. Our initial options had failed us, and this was right there, so we chose to descend. Being about 3pm in the afternoon the place was entirely empty, so it was a little bit of an unusual experience. Even so, every member of staff was fantastic, and treated us beautifully. We ordered the Prosecco, as it was on an afternoon deal (I forget how much), and drank that whilst perusing the extensive menu. Let me start by saying, if you're indecisive, brace yourself. There's hoards to decipher, and adventurous menu by all accounts, and even features frogs legs and birds nest soup. I was not so brave, and tried neither this visit, but as a personal challenge I think I should come back and give them a go. Our initial plan was to order several of the dishes under a fiver, and pick and mix. After listing about three dishes our waiter looked concerned and asked if we were still ordering more... We soon realised that four dishes was more than enough to feed a small army. Forgive me for forgetting every single item, but let me attempt to describe them. We had a peppery fish soup, which was gelatinous and thick, and not really my thing. (Not a seafood fan, but my friend adored it.) We also had the salt and pepper chicken wings, which were plentiful, greasy, and really delicious. If you're watching your weight, avoid - napkins were used every time to clean off the oil from our fingers. We also had a delectable dish of mushrooms, that was incredible, and an unforgettable (I realise the irony of forgetting its name) dish of crispy spicy beef. This was the pièce de résistance - every mouthful was incredible, but eat it quick as it's tastier when it's hot. Defeated, way before we finished, our lovely waiter asked if we'd like to take the remainder home - so never fear if you're one for waste not want not. Sadly, being as we were going for yet another birthday meal that evening, we couldn't take the food with us. On a more bizarre note, since the place was empty whilst we dined, it was curious that the waiting staff stood about 3 feet from our table during the whole meal. It didn't bother me, but I'm sure they could hear all the silly conversation we were having! Regardless, I imagine when full, this situation doesn't happen. (And as I mentioned before, they were all really lovely.) In any case, once again I've written more than you could probably digest, mirroring my ordering style, so I'll leave it there. Essentially, this is a fantastic restaurant, with incredible menus, lovely staff, great lunch deals and really quirky cool décor. It's a new favourite, and I want to come back! Lunch, anyone?

And very good value for money too at that. The only thing I'd knock it on would be the drinks selection, but with the above, and the great waiting staff and snazzy faux Chinese decor you'd be crazy to contemplate any other Chinese in the city centre.

This is one of my favourite places to visit with friends due to the light atmosphere and wide choice of dishes available. For anybody who may be a little shy to try a forgeign cuisine, English options are available. I ordered the Sirloin Steak which was, as always, cooked to perfection with just the right amount of caramelised onions. Prices are reasonable for a restaurant, around £18 for a steak dish. Quality is always present at Brio and staff have always had a 'can do' attitude.

Its in the name and pizza really is a specialty you wont find better thin an crispy as they should be with a full range of toppings to choose from, and classic combinations at that. The Gargantua comes highly recomended a meaty feat! Pasta always perfectly cooked and delicious fancy something fishy go for the linguine alle vongole, (long flat pasta with clams garlic chilli and the like) a real classic dish. There is always a range of seasonal specials be it lobster season or something else, check them out while you wait to be seated. Brio is a great place for a speedy lunch or a hassle free dinner when you need to get your drink on. Some of the best coffee in Leeds, so dont miss out on that espresso to help you get over the post feast slump! Salute! or Gezuar!

Fifteen minutes later we were told there was not enough food to make Sunday lunches anymore and they were very sorry but our orders would have to be cancelled. With the Baltic temperatures we didn't really want to venture too far from Vue so ended up in Revolution. The Mr has eaten here on a few occasions and has mixed feelings about it. With a 50% off all food offers I thought we'd give it a go. The actual bar/restaurant was busier than a few places we'd walked past (recession, what recession?!) and to take advantage of the 50% off food promotion you had to book so we booked in for 25mins later and also had to get a special code from following them on Twitter & Retweeting their tweet- bit faffy eh! We had a drink each while we waited and took in the atmosphere. A large birthday party were seated just before us which is never good but as we'd browsed the menu before we knew what we wanted to ordered almost immediately after sitting. My friend had- Peppercorn burger: Coated in cracked black pepper, topped with melted cheese and served with a rich, creamy peppercorn sauce. And I chose- Denver steak fries: Golden fries with strips of tender steak in peppercorn sauce and cheese, then grilled 'til it's all gooey and melting. We didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive piping hot and just as described! We both enjoyed our food and the service wasn't so shabby. One of the waitresses did seem to drop more than she successfully carried though which made us jump every time she did! As far as the food/experience goes, it was just as expected but a few things let it down. Dirty looking glass for my drink, the clumsy waitress, other diners that has issues with their food & drinks being quite vocal with their complaints, and the fiddly way of getting the promotion. For a £8.61 food bill for 2 full bellies I'd go back!

I wasn't even sure where it was, and when I realised we were heading towards the Merrion Centre I was less inclined to jump aboard the Japanese food train. If looks were everything this place wouldn't be too busy. It looks kinda dingy from the outside, and whilst the inside has a certain charm about it, it's not the Ritz but doesn't profess itself to be so. Think of it as a Japanese eatery version of the local cafe. I was looking over the menu, contemplating what to order, and being particularly hungry, did my unusual thing of looking at starters. My friend just shook her all knowing head at me and pointed straight to the mains. Huh? Well what was cloudy became clear within about ten minutes, as my hearty noodle dish came, steaming and smelling divine, and flippin huge. Seriously, I was pleasantly surprised at this. Considering how quick our orders came, I was more than pleased to take in the taste and how fresh everything was. It didnt have that 'been stewing all day in a pot waiting to be warmed up and served' taste, nor did it have quick food microwaved crunchy in some places and soggy in parts texture either. Being a dork with coordination, but feeling self conscious at the people opting for the chop sticks, I was relieved when a fork was provided for me. There's a good hustle bustle vibe about Fuji Hiro's and whilst the staff are not rude, far from it, there's an efficient business like approach to providing awesome food to their hungry clients, even the ones who are yet to walk through the door. Easy on the budget, good in the belly.
