I had a work event at Humphreys by the Bay, which was hosted in the Harbor Room, connected to the restaurant. We had a special lunch here and I got the asiago stuffed gnocchi. I will forever RAVE about it. As a meat lover, I usually don't opt for the vegetarian option but it was DIVINE! the gnocchis were so tender, nice toasty nuttiness from the pine nuts, the sun dried tomato oil was a perfect accompaniment to cut through the richness. Plus, who doesn't love anything stuffed with cheese. I would come back just for this. And then our lunch ended with thick slices of strawberry cheesecake. Safe to say, we were STUFFED!

Really enjoyed our breakfast at Humphreys. First off the view is fabulous. With windows all around, you have an unobstructed view of the marina. Our server instantly got us a glass of water and a cup of coffee. He let us know that the coffee in the restaurant was much better than the Starbucks coffee offered in the hotel room. I went with the basic American breakfast. My wife chose the avocado toast. Since we were hotel guests we were able to get a discount on the meals. I wanted to go back from dinner, but we were too late to make it before they closed at 9:00. Will definitely be back.

Annoying and confusing surcharge nobody's paying, Dinner show paid for months ago

Time for an update after previous review 12 years ago! Came for the concert dinner before DEVO, both were amazing, the concert and the dinner! First dinner show of the year for them, and it shined. Seated right away, plenty of space between us and other tables, great view of the bay. Our server, Naomi, is the best we've ever had after 100+ dinner shows here. So nice, friendly, what a smile, felt like an instant friend. There when you wanted her, not there when you didn't, perfect, flawless service from beginning to end. Bravo! The food created by current chef Percy Oani is delicious and all cooked and prepared perfetly. The timing was great, too. Delicious salad, andSpring pea soup. I had the whiskey peppercorn filet mignon butterflied and it actually looked like a butterfly, over al dente asparagus and mashed potatoes. Every bite of the steak was tender and perfect, no excess fat, no chewy parts. That sauce! I wanted to lick the plate. Tasted like USDA Prime but think it was probably Choice. Didn't matter with cooking expertise like his. Spouse had the huge pork chop, and both finished with amazing red velvet chocolate marquis chessecake, wow! So creamy inside, just perfect, but on the sweet side. They put a sticker on our to go cocktail and let us take it to the show next door (I think the price might be better too?) Since I'm passive/ aggressive can I complain about one thing? The note at the bottom of the menu stating there would be a 5% surcharge that would be added to all checks to cover increased costs, etc. Indeed this surcharge was shown on the bill $11.20 for the two of us. These aren't uncommon these days, but there's one problem: This dinner was paid for $120 each 6 months ago when we bought the dinner show tickets! Nobody is now paying this, so why is it on here? It just adds confusion which makes people's head spin. What was someone thinking when they thought this was a good idea? Please remove it. It's important to keep the dinner show concept simple. Yes we now have to tip, that's fine, Naomi deserved it and then some. No stars deducted for this, hope it's gone for our next dinner show! The tax too, irrelevant and included, please make it go bye bye as well. Many years ago gratuity was included in the dinner show so you didn't get a chreck at all. So simple! Indeed the good old days. Excellent night at Humphrey's

This restaurant is conveniently located at the resort we stayed at. It's beautifully decorated for the holidays and located with a great view of the marina. Our server was amazing, she was really attentive and came by frequently to check on us. The menu options are fairly limited, but have enough to satisfy our different tastes. I got the Macadamia Crusted Halibut, hubby got the Honey Mustard Glazed short ribs, and my kids got the Wagyu burgers. Food was ok, my fish was dry and overcooked, and it came with rice that wasn't fully cooked. Go figure. I asked for a side of mashed potatoes instead. Hubby and kids said their food was ok. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, but we came only because our hotel offered a discount at this restaurant and we didn't want to drive anywhere.

Had a great time brunch at Humphrey. Ordered three different omelette;lobster, ham and cheese and farmhouse. All were delicious. They had enough ingredients and cooked just right. Our requested crispy hash browns were crispy alright. Also ordered table French toast to share with strawberries. We ate as a dessert. Yum. Our waiter was friendly and checked on us, refilled coffee periodically too. Ambiance was great. Lovely view of the boats while dining.

Birthday treat was delicious and perfect!

There were 5 of us to celebrate my friend's birthday. We were seated at a nice table with a water view, the lights were dimmed nicely, and the ambiance was very comfortable, not loud where we could not hear each other. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. He did not hesitate to recommend starters, entrees, cocktails, and even brought over a nice birthday treat for my friend. I ordered the braised short rib and wow! The meat was so tender! The portion was big, too! I shared. Everyone else loved their food and it was unanimous; we will definitely return!

I have to say the Ambiance of Humphreys was great. So lovely, On the water and the lights of the boats and the city was absolutely beautiful. The service was excellent, very friendly, and attentive. He made sure our table had all the needs met. The Vegan bolognese was okay not the best Vegan bolognese I have had. Unfortunately, the food was not hot as I like it, and it was small portions. I would say it was a bit pricey for what we got. But I have to say the view and great friendly service was a plus. It was a decent experience overall, and I guess I can say I have been here. A little disappointment mixed with lovely views, equals 3 stars...Humphrey's just got over the hump.

Food was so good! I recommend getting the shrimp fettuccine . Our server was so nice and friendly. She always makes sure we're good. Ang we got the window seat and the view was amazing.

We had a special party of 26 family members to celebrate our loving Aunt's birthday. We had the special semi private dining area on the side. Robert and Mona were our servers. They were kind, attentive and friendly. It was havoc at times with everyone asking for spirit beverages but they handled the crowd with such grace. lol The meals were all delicious and the presentation was flawless. Dessert was yummy as well. The only thing I would change on the menu is the fish entree needed vegetables, not a whole bunch of rice. lol When I mention " semi- private" you can hear the band playing so at times it was difficult to hear family giving their personal toast to my Aunt. Anyway, was a great experience, everyone was happy and it was a memorable celebration!!!

Mai tai's

This was our very first visit to this restaurant. The parking is not the best so you may have to walk. When you walk in there is a check in desk for reservations and they will seat you at your table. The view is awesome!!! We were greeted by Jolene and she was great and very attentive. The tables are close together so beware if you're concerned about who is listening to you conversation. They have appetizers, however we were meeting other people for the music next door so we went the main course right away. I had the Honey mustard short ribs, OMG so delicious!!! My lady had shrimp Tacos, she said they were good. And we had a couple of their Mai Tai's, for me they were great but others may say they are very heavy with alcohol. And we finished our meals with the Chocolate cake as our dessert, so good. This place was not crowded but if it got busy you may have to wait awhile. Be aware of the price. For what I mentioned we had it was $125, just for the food and drinks. So add a tip and it was$145. They do offer 15% Military discount on food only. So if you're ever on Shelter Island going Humphreys for music try the restaurant you may just like it. Btw if you eat in the restaurant and go next door for the live band they will reduce the cover charge by $5!!!

I sat down and waited a while for someone to bring me a glass of water and a menu. It wasn't crowded. Maybe 10 people and 3-4 wait staff, including the bartender. Why are we going to the Hilton bar to be abused? And how embarrassing- we brought a new friend in bragging about this place/ and then were treated so rudely by Tasha. The first time I just stopped for a quick pre-flight beer. They have solid choices and I was pleasantly surprised that their hazy was delicious. I believe it was a Sierra Nevada beer. Service was great and kind my first visit. The second time I came here I definitely needed a bite to eat after a packed morning and had a hard time choosing what I wanted, but I went with the Tortilla Soup. I gotta say I definitely chose wrong. The flavor was decent, but the soup was incredibly watery and for some reason I expected there to be chicken but it was literally just broth. Thankfully I paid extra for avocado for some added calories, but paying like $15+ for a bowl of just broth is crazy work. Again, it wasn't awful in taste, but the quality of the dish in general could've been much better. Drink choices were still on point and I sat in the same spot as my previous visit which was comfortable and had an outlet for me to charge my phone. For that soup, 5 stars is kind of high. But the saving grace was the bartender/waiter I had the second time. We had great conversation and he was incredibly nice - I think his name was Peter! Halfway through my beer he slid me a notebook and I asked what it was and he told me "whenever I get a cool vibe from someone I offer up this guest notebook for them to share whatever they wanna share." I read through past entries of people sharing where they were coming from, where they were going. Funny entries, sweet entries, you name it. I felt seriously so honored to be "picked" to share something in this fun little journal that connects a lot of strangers. It just goes to show small acts of kindness like that go a long way.
