The appetizer choices were good including: a choice of pea soup or arugula salad. Both were delicious. The main course choices were Seabass, fillet mignon, pasta with shrimp, ravioli. My fillet was perfectly cooked and was delicious. The sea bass was a little bland and the pasta with shrimp was good. They served warm bread with dinner, which was tasty. The dessert choices were: a creamy red velvet cake, and a passionfruit option. Both were good, but I didn't taste the passionfruit coming through. The server Joanne was excellent. We had a reservation but were told no tables were available due to the staff being overwhelmed. We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table to open up. The view of the harbor is pretty and the restaurant is decorated nicely. We then waited about 15 minutes for a server. She was very nice, the food came out timely. The quality of the food did not match up with the pricing. We paid $200 for guacamole, a salad with unchewable steak and a piece of undercooked fish. We did not order any alcoholic beverages, just a soda and an iced tea. There was a wedding going on in a room adjacentto restaurant with people going in and out through the restaurant to use the bathroom. Every time they opened the door the music was blasting and we had to keep stopping our conversation until we could hear again. Not the "nice dinner" we were hoping for. Valentine's Dinner @ Humphrey's We had a 7:45 reservation. We arrived at 7:35 and were seated at 7:45. Our server, Naomi, greeted us and took our order. The menu was quite small today so it did not take long to decide on our food. The rolls and butter were fine. The rolls tasted like the kind that are purchased partially baked, and then they're baked the rest of the way before serving them. Naomi brought out our apps mere moments later & asked us what we ordered.These starters were fine. The dried cherries in the bisque were a nice touch & it was flavorful and tasty. The salad was also fine according to M. - he enjoyed the pears. Before I was even done with my soup, a server, Lev?, brought our entrees. The app dishes were still on the table, and Lev used my entree dish to push my bowl out of the way, pushing it with one of my scallops in the process. One he placed the entrees down, he removed the app dishes. My appetite was somewhat ruined though. M's sea bass was bland. My scallops were tasty, The couscous was cold & the beet purée, while pretty and pink, was too sweet and did not pair well with the scallops or the couscous. The little baby vegetables were fine. Fili and the other bussers were working very hard & they kept our water full which we appreciated. Our dishes were quickly cleared and Naomi asked if we wanted dessert. We said sure, and she brought out two cute little cakes on a single plate, one red velvet & one sunset kiss. She did not ask if we wanted coffee or tea or anything else. We took the cakes to go because the meal felt so rushed, we felt like we'd enjoy it more later & in the comfort of home. For $80 per person, this experience was in no way a good value or one that I would repeat. I understand that we pay a premium on holidays to go out, but honestly, this was just such a disappointing experience. Incidentally, there was also a security camera on the opposite side of the room facing me, and it kept on flashing brightly almost for the entire time we were there. I had a work event at Humphreys by the Bay, which was hosted in the Harbor Room, connected to the restaurant. We had a special lunch here and I got the asiago stuffed gnocchi. I will forever RAVE about it. As a meat lover, I usually don't opt for the vegetarian option but it was DIVINE! the gnocchis were so tender, nice toasty nuttiness from the pine nuts, the sun dried tomato oil was a perfect accompaniment to cut through the richness. I got sick afterwards from eating hidden dairy, after I so carefully picked what few items seemed safe, only to find the gnocchi was mozzarella stuffed gnocchi. Potato's were undercooked, most food bland. No one from my fam enjoyed their $100 per person meal. Overall poor service, took 10 min to get salt, never got sweetener for their gross coffee. Overall disappointing experience, sub par food, and misleading menus. Almost nothing for vegans / vegetarians. No fruit. No ingredient transparency. Really enjoyed our breakfast at Humphreys. First off the view is fabulous. With windows all around, you have an unobstructed view of the marina. Our server instantly got us a glass of water and a cup of coffee. He let us know that the coffee in the restaurant was much better than the Starbucks coffee offered in the hotel room. I went with the basic American breakfast. My wife chose the avocado toast. Since we were hotel guests we were able to get a discount on the meals. I wanted to go back from dinner, but we were too late to make it before they closed at 9:00. Will definitely be back. read more

Time for an update after previous review 12 years ago! Came for the concert dinner before DEVO, both were amazing, the concert and the dinner! First dinner show of the year for them, and it shined. Seated right away, plenty of space between us and other tables, great view of the bay. Our server, Naomi, is the best we've ever had after 100+ dinner shows here. So nice, friendly, what a smile, felt like an instant friend. There when you wanted her, not there when you didn't, perfect, flawless service from beginning to end. Bravo! The food created by current chef Percy Oani is delicious and all cooked and prepared perfetly. The timing was great, too. Delicious salad, andSpring pea soup. I had the whiskey peppercorn filet mignon butterflied and it actually looked like a butterfly, over al dente asparagus and mashed potatoes. Every bite of the steak was tender and perfect, no excess fat, no chewy parts. That sauce! I wanted to lick the plate. Tasted like USDA Prime but think it was probably Choice. Didn't matter with cooking expertise like his. Spouse had the huge pork chop, and both finished with amazing red velvet chocolate marquis chessecake, wow! So creamy inside, just perfect, but on the sweet side. They put a sticker on our to go cocktail and let us take it to the show next door (I think the price might be better too?) Since I'm passive/ aggressive can I complain about one thing? The note at the bottom of the menu stating there would be a 5% surcharge that would be added to all checks to cover increased costs, etc. Indeed this surcharge was shown on the bill $11.20 for the two of us. These aren't uncommon these days, but there's one problem: This dinner was paid for $120 each 6 months ago when we bought the dinner show tickets! Nobody is now paying this, so why is it on here? It just adds confusion which makes people's head spin. What was someone thinking when they thought this was a good idea? Please remove it. It's important to keep the dinner show concept simple. Yes we now have to tip, that's fine, Naomi deserved it and then some. No stars deducted for this, hope it's gone for our next dinner show! This restaurant is conveniently located at the resort we stayed at. It's beautifully decorated for the holidays and located with a great view of the marina. Our server was amazing, she was really attentive and came by frequently to check on us. The menu options are fairly limited, but have enough to satisfy our different tastes. I got the Macadamia Crusted Halibut, hubby got the Honey Mustard Glazed short ribs, and my kids got the Wagyu burgers. Food was ok, my fish was dry and overcooked, and it came with rice that wasn't fully cooked. Go figure. I asked for a side of mashed potatoes instead. Hubby and kids said their food was ok. Came here for a weekend training and was informed they moved me from a king room on the second floor to a junior Suite, which sounds great, except no view, weird layout of the room and right next to soda machine (= Noisy.) No charging stations for EV's on property, spent my lunchtime trying to find a working charging station for my car to no avail and when I returned to get something to eat before my training resumed, there are no restaurants on the property open for lunch. Also $25 per night parking fee plus $30 resort fee. So be sure to add that into your cost when you're looking at prices. Will not be returning, would not recommend. Was looking forward to relaxing. He made sure our table had all the needs met. The Vegan bolognese was okay not the best Vegan bolognese I have had. Unfortunately, the food was not hot as I like it, and it was small portions. I would say it was a bit pricey for what we got. But I have to say the view and great friendly service was a plus. It was a decent experience overall, and I guess I can say I have been here. Unfortunately, that was the highlight. Our server was friendly but a bit forgetful, mixing up a few of our orders. The food itself was very mediocre at best. My French fries were good, but overall the dishes didn't stand out, and honestly, I think the food inside the music venue is better than the restaurant dining itself. Would I come back? Probably not. For such a stunning waterfront location, the restaurant feels outdated and disappointing. It's sad, because this spot has so much potential. We had a special party of 26 family members to celebrate our loving Aunt's birthday. We had the special semi private dining area on the side. Robert and Mona were our servers. They were kind, attentive and friendly. It was havoc at times with everyone asking for spirit beverages but they handled the crowd with such grace. lol The meals were all delicious and the presentation was flawless. Dessert was yummy as well. This was our very first visit to this restaurant. The parking is not the best so you may have to walk. When you walk in there is a check in desk for reservations and they will seat you at your table. The view is awesome!!! We were greeted by Jolene and she was great and very attentive. The tables are close together so beware if you're concerned about who is listening to you conversation. They have appetizers, however we were meeting other people for the music next door so we went the main course right away. I had the Honey mustard short ribs, OMG so delicious!!! My lady had shrimp Tacos, she said they were good. And we had a couple of their Mai Tai's, for me they were great but others may say they are very heavy with alcohol. And we finished our meals with the Chocolate cake as our dessert, so good. This place was not crowded but if it got busy you may have to wait awhile. Be aware of the price. For what I mentioned we had it was $125, just for the food and drinks. So add a tip and it was$145. They do offer 15% Military discount on food only. So if you're ever on Shelter Island going Humphreys for music try the restaurant you may just like it. We ate here on Thursday 10/10/24 and booked a Dinner and a show package for the concert venue at the Hotel next door. It's a very close and efficient set up for dinner prior to the entertainment. The dinner had set options for starters, main dish and desert from the regular menu (I believe). For Dinner, my wife and I opted for the Curry Spiced Pumpkin Bisque Soup to start. It was very flavorful, thick, and creamy, Yum! For the mains, I had the Lobster tail, and my wife had the Nori Seared Hiramassa (aka AmberJack/Yellowfin). My wife didn't really love the fish plate. She said it was a little dry, dense, and not a lot of flavor. My Lobster tail was good. It could have been a bit firmer, but it met my desire for dinner. For desert, we both had the triple layer tropical mousse. We paired the dinner with a 2015 Hess Collection Chardonnay, and it worked well with the fish and Lobster. When we checked in at the front desk, the girls were a bit business like and just one shade away from rude. I realize they have a job to do making sure people are prepared with their tickets, but an upbeat positive attitude cures a bunch. On the flip side, the service and attitude from our waiter was excellent and he constantly check with us to make sure we weren't going without. Got here at around 8:40 and the kitchen was supposed to close at 9:00, So I guess it was pretty late but the service was not quick and food was not all available. I really wanted to get that roasted half chicken but they said they were all out. Husband and I both ended up getting the Macadamia Crusted Halibut - one with the saffron rice and another with broccolini that would have been on the chicken. Fish itself was exceptional! Perfectly cook and flavorful (I had a bad experience with halibut at a different restaurant where the fish was completely bland and tasteless, but this was not so!) Crunch from the macadamia crust was just right. And really good flavor. saffron scented basmati rice on the side was really soft and delicate. Perfectly fluffy and flavorful even on its own. orange-mirin beurre blanc was lovely. It had a nice flavor and went really well with the halibut and the rice. Good quantity of the sauce as well. Broccolini was perfectly tender and quite a good portion size! Overall the Food was good but the service was so so slow! The restaurant barely had five tables occupied but who took easily over 20-25 minutes to come out. Finally came out after we called the server and asked why it was taking so long. In summary - Elegant, Classy, Upscale, restaurant. Bay front. Romanic for an intimate date night. I imagine it would also be a beautiful spot for sunset given the tall surrounding windows. But the view at night is pretty nice as well; right on the water. I had a unique experience where we had the whole restaurant to ourselves that night. Service was on par and checked on us regularly. The atmosphere reminds me of a wedding hall, high ceilings, and tall windows. Great for an intimate dinner date or celebrating a special occasion (anniversary or date night). We both ended up ordering the lobster risotto. I'm not a huge risotto/ pasta fan, but it had the perfect amount of sauce; it was flavorful but not too saucey. Was attending a concert and had the dinner package. The menu sounded amazing, but some things weren't what I expected. All 3 of us started with the miso caesar salad. These salads were greatly under dressed. It was lettuce, on a plate, with a very small drizzle of dressing and 1 thin crouton. Once you eat the top layer, there is no dressing left for the rest of the salad. Both my girls ordered the pan fried cobra. Fish was cooked to perfection! The presentation was also very beautiful, but my youngest didn't like the pea mixture in the bottom and traded me for my ravioli. When I saw goat cheese ravioli, I was sold! Goat cheese is one of my favorite things. I recieved 4 ravioli and after cutting into one, I didn't taste any goat cheese at all. It just tasted of ricotta. The sauce was very thin and watery and I was happy that my daughter asked to switch meals with me. Had I known the ravioli was like that, I would have ordered something different. For dessert, 2 of us had the almond pound cake and one the espresso panna cotta. The pound cake was the perfect flavor and not overly sweet. The Panna cotta was quite the opposite and very sweet. I stayed at the hotel and didn't have a car, so I ordered pick up from here and used the discount the hotel provided. I was surprised to be charged over $25 for the Wagyu burger when the price online indicated the burger was $19. Turns out the price was off by $3 and they automatically added a $3 gratuity for a pick up order, which was not disclosed anywhere on their website. Burger was so dry, I couldn't even finish it. I would not recommend this place, particularly if getting takeaway, and would go elsewhere. read more
