Beautiful views and a nice selection of food are a great combination for hotel dining. My husband and I were staying at this hotel and had dinner here before we headed out to a concert. The staff was very friendly. The cauliflower appetizer was amazing. We asked for blue cheese instead of Buffalo ranch. The caesar salad was simple yet yummy. The pizza was fantastic. The large is huge, and the leftovers made for a great late night snack after our concert. Overall, we had a lovely dinner here. read more

My dining experience was unparalleled. Soft, low lighting added to the ambiance, I was in a romantic dinner with my Busy Self that needed this much coveted R&R, an hour and a half staycation from the silently busy life of working my butt off at home to bring hundreds of thousands of marketing dollars to my client. If you've been following me here on Yelp you'll notice how I enjoy meshing real life stuff with food, places, events and yes, weird people. My novelistic prologue leads me to MY experience at dinner last night at Harbor's Edge, AND the sweet endings I devoured like a caveman (OK, cavechic) at Quinn's Ale House last night. Good bananas, big shout-out to Cammy for making sure she got my order PERFECTO to a T (yep, you know I'm picky, girlfriend!) and the amazing bartender who knew from the get-go that I was going to take my Banana & Cream made with walnut shortbread dough (I needed the proteins before bedtime), vanilla custard (just a tiny bit, not too much), and salted caramel (gotta have some salt to detox and cleanse my insides) TO-GO after that wholesome dinner. Wait, how did he know I was just having a midnight sweet tooth? Does Sheraton hire psychic bartenders? Gotta add some pics so you can see my adorable, bespectacled server, Cammy. And I have to say this, she was really concerned about how my food came out (since I couldn't have dairy, even when I'm alone) so she and Master Chef secretly collaborated on whatever landed on my plate! To that onehelluva Chef, kudos to you for making the best Green Onion Emulsion sauce ever! Whoaw! Man, I'd have that over the most expensive roller coaster ride in Arizona! By the way, my room had a great view but wait. Save my review for when you plan to fly or drive down to San Diego cuz got more tips for you. There are 2 Sheraton buildings in the middle of the harbor. One giant one (which is where I stayed - see my 'ugly toe pictures on my balcony' later, not now) and then there's the baby Sheraton building which is about a 5 minute walk down the scenic walkway. Now, for all you avid party peepers and party poopers, listen up. Baby Sheraton (Bay Sheraton as they call it, I think) is where the action is! Food, drinks open til 2:00 freakin' A.M.! Unheard of in "Sorry, we closed at 12 midnight so go somewhere else!" California. OK I was exaggerating. But seriously, think about it...you're in the middle of water and Baby Sheraton's got all the mouthwatering views on both sides of the building! Hello, Einstein! Now for those of us party poopers who go to bed at 8:30PM, go ahead and get the Ensure Discount like I did at the main building. I came here for breakfast last week since we were staying at the hotel. It took a while to get seated since there was no one to check us in. The service continued to be underwhelming. At the very least, our waiter was nice. Maybe they were just busy and understaffed? Unlike most of the positive reviews here, the menu was extremely limited and basic. I am at a meeting in this hotel, so came over for breakfast. My waiter was a gentleman named Victor. He has been here for many years. Very professional, polite, friendly. Top notch service. Food was good, fresh, prompt. I had an omelet made to order which came with fruit and toast. Great view of Marina. Price was about expected for San Diego in a nice hotel. My short rib burrito was perfect, My wife had the Chilaquiles and the joke was on her. She should have know better, Chilaquiles is a simple dish that needs some TLC in order be prepared correctly. I was staying at the Sheraton where this restaurant is, so I decided to try the breakfast buffet. I showed up just before the buffet ended. They gladly seated me, no faces. The food was great, everything you would expect at an upscale hotel restaurant: made to order egg station, made to order waffles and pancakes, lots of fresh fruits, meats and cheeses, large selection of baked goods, etc. When I sat down, I was asked what I waited to drink and was told they were about to clean up, so I was offered a chance to " Go fill as many plated as you want and bring them bake to the table". I wasn't being rushed, they just needed clean up. I continued to great, great service and my drinks never emptied. I will definitely be back, whether I stay at the hotel or not. read more

It hurts me to write this review since I know this restaurant can do better.  Went there on Saturday to get fueled up for the "Gator by The Bay" dance held in the Sherton's main Ball Room.  We arrieved about 7 p.m. and there were about a dozen people in the restaurant.  As the waiter took our order (Mario G.), we noticed more people started to come in.  It soon became apparent that out poor waiter was waiting on some 30 plus people  by himself.  Our drink order which consisted of two margaritas and a coke, took about half an hour to arrive.  We were promised some rolls and butter, which did not show up till after our dinner started arriving and when they did arrive, they were cold and hard. In most restaurants it is customery to bring all the guests seated at a table their meals at the same time, not this place.  They bought my food first  (which took about an hour aftervwe placed our order) and then it took about another 20 minutes for my wife and our two friends to get their meal.  Our waiter would check in while we were waiting for our food siting the reason for the delay was that "all our food is made from scratch".  Obviously he thought we were stupid as opposed to being honest with us and sharing with us the real reason our food was delayed. Now for the food...I ordered the Seafood Linguini.  It should have been called "Our 2 Scallop & Shrimp" linguini, because that's exactly what came on a bed of pasta.  The flavor was decent, however the dish was barely warm, like it had been sitting on the kitchen for a while.  I also ordered a side of asparagus which also was luke warm.  I started eating and about a couple of bites into the meal, the waiter came by and asked if all was well, I told him that it tasted okay bu that it was cold.  He offered to have a "fresh one" made for me.  Fearing that he would need to go fishing for the second attempt, I asked him if he could just warm it up.  He took the dish and when he return about 10 minutes later, I  noticed it was missing one of the two shrimp and scallop as well as some of the pasta.  At this point I had enough and decided to make the best of it as the rest of the table had gotten their meals and I did not want to hold them up (I just could not believe what they had done). As far as the other dishes, my wife ordered their 3 course special, a cajun shimp in a tomato sauce with 3 large shrimp as the appetizer which had a good flavor, a rosted piece of chicken with some veggies (carrots & parsnips).  The chicken was over cooked and chewy with little flavor,  the veggies were okay.  Her meal came with a desert, which we had to ask our new waiter for....our buddy Mario was temporarily MIA.  When the desert arrived it was a tiramisu which was actually pretty good to look at and the flavor (hence the only item worthy of a "star" in this review.  Our friends ordered the salmon and the steak and seemed to be happy with thier selections. As a consolation our waiter did comp us my wife's glass of wine and my coke. I was extremely disappointed as we had eaten here before and had a decent experience. Given that this place is pricey given it's location, average cost per dish is about $30 and sides are alacarte add another $10 to $20 it easy to spend upwards of $70 per person if you have a couple of drinks, I would expect much better quality and quantity. Sheraton you have such a beautiful location how about providing the food and service to match? I know you can do better !!! read more

What an underwhelming lunch. I stopped in during the lunch break from my conference, and dined by myself. I was seated quickly and the waiter appeared soon thereafter. He asked what I wanted to drink, and as I flipped the menu to look, he told me the beers were all incorrect, but that "they" wouldn't tell him what the correct ones were. I ordered a coke. A few minutes later, he brought me a water. I assumed he'd return with the coke eventually. Nope. I ordered the fish and chips. Fried food on a limited menu. Should be quick. Took at least 20 minutes to come out. The fries were cold. The coleslaw was chopped too big and very wet. The fish was bland and the breading was overcooked. The ketchup and horseradish didn't help. I didn't bother to ask for the coke at that point, because it wasn't going to improve matters. For $19.40 after tax, this was as mediocre as it gets. I'll never eat here again. Horrible Fish! This restaurant is On The Water in the Sheraton Bay Tower, check out the fish. You've had a fresh piece of tender, flavorful Mahi Mahi before...but not here. I told the server that the fish was horrible. He replied that they have no control over their food supply. On a positive side, if you have a bucket of salt and need to preserve a tiny piece of fish for use later in the year, call the Sheraton Bay Tower and ask to speak to the chef. Bon Appetit! read more

I ordered the free range chicken. It was served with farro and a ton of mixed veggies (cauliflower, zucchini, tomatoe, olives, and radish). This was good. For the food alone I would give 4.5 stars. Drinks are over priced. An iced tea is $4 and regular drip coffee is about the same. Francisco seemed a bit unsure on splitting checks and had to check if it could be done. When my bill came out, I gave him my card. When I looked at the amount charged vs my bill, I was charged a few $$ more. Our service for drinks was quick and we ordered our food right away. We opted out of the $25 buffet, as nothing really stood out. Standard fare on the buffet, omelette bar, meats, fruits, waffles. We ordered the breakfast sandwich and beef brisket breakfast burrito. Try saying that three times fast. Food service was slow, but we enjoyed the view and weren't in a rush. Both menu items were fantastic. By the time our food came, we didn't have time for pics, we just had to dig in!! For a restaurant in a hotel, the food was surprisingly good. Came here for brunch yesterday and ordered the eggs benedict. The eggs were poached perfectly and the hash browns were nice and crispy. The service was good and we had a beautiful view of the marina. The food is pricey though but that's expected because of it's location - everything is overpriced in hotels. I would come back if I was staying at the hotel because of the convenience. I don't know why anyone would come here just to eat at the restaurant since parking is super expensive. read more

Honestly for the breakfast buffet it's a two star only because of the view of the marina which is incredible! The food was pretty blah for being so expensive. It's so calm and peaceful looking out at all the boats and the marina. So two stars had to be given. The view is really amazing. With that being said that's the most exciting part of the breakfast buffet. The rest would be 1 star. The server was ok. Nothing out of the ordinary as far as the service. It was pretty empty when we eat at 8am so that may have been a sign to pass. I do have to say the ambients was nice. Since it's pretty price buffet I thought it would have a large variety of food options. This was wrong. The buffet had pretty much the basics for breakfast. An ok variety of fruit and an omelet bar were they guy made it for you. Honestly the free breakfast at other chain hotels tasted better. The guy making he omelets took our order and made them. Didn't seem like a people person. The bacon tasted microwaved, the ham was rubbery and the sausage was big links that I'm not a fan of. Again this is only for the breakfast buffet to steer clear from. The menu for dinner looked pretty good and I may try the dinner but for now it stays a two star. I think she forgot that my food came in. I had to call her up twice and then she relaxed that my food came in. It was sooooo nasty. I'm a Starwood Platinum members and spend more time in hotel eateries than I care to admit. With a few dishes that reflect the local cuisine to add some variety, most Starwood eateries stick to the same old dishes at every location. Tedious is the best description of hotel restaurants. Harbor's Edge at the San Diego Sheraton and Marina is the exception to the rule. It's the dinner menu that differentiates here. While admittedly a bit pricey ($30+ for their specials), their Cioppino and Mediterranean Sea Bass certainly justifies the price. The two best meals I had on my last trip to San Diego. Best sea food dishes I've had in a while, period. The Cioppino comes with fresh seafood including Maine lobster, Alaskan King Crab, a substantial scallop and other various mussels and clams. Coupled with a spicy, briny tomato broth - easily the best Cioppino I've ever had. Only complaint, for $37, more appetizer than entree. The sea bass (also at $37) is a much more substantial meal. Deep fried whole complete with head, fins and tail; the bass is nicely complimented with a Ponzu sauce that really brings out the flavor. Crunchy goodness surrounding high quality fish, I would have eaten the bones if I could have gotten them down. If ever in San Diego, I would drive out of my way to eat at this particular hotel eatery. Recommend the same for any seafood lover looking for a great meal. read more

Excellent Easter Buffet! This was our first time coming here for Easter and were pleased with the experience. We were greeted by a friendly hostess who seated us immediately. Our server came out right away and asked what we wanted to drink. The dining room is by the bay and had floor to ceiling windows so anyone could have a view. So far, great start. We then went to get our food and each food station was spaced out so there was no crowd build up. It was not crowded so there was no wait for the omelette. There was also a carving station with prime rib and roasted turkey breast. To the left of the station were the au jus and the gravy. Both smelled wonderful and were very tasty. They had everything that is typical in an Easter buffet: pastries, eggs, sausage, fruit, cheese, some lunch options (salmon, roasted chicken, rice, mashed potatoes, etc.) and also an array of salads and desserts. Well worth the money. And although it was pricey, it's less expensive than other buffets, i.e. Humphrey's and Westgate. To top off this wonderful meal experience, there was an activity room for children where they were able to decorate eggs. My 5-year old son spent 20 minutes decorating 3 Easter eggs. The staff were super friendly, supervising the activities and assisting the kids. They were very upbeat and definitely had the Easter holiday spirit. In addition, they hosted an egg hunt in the garden every hour (11:30 am, 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm) so the kids could burn off any energy they obtained from the sugar and carbs they consumed during brunch. Having the activity room and egg hunt gives this buffet an edge over others, in my opinion. All the staff, hostess, food server, food station attendants, were professional and friendly. This was the worst restaurant I've ever been to in San Diego. There was a band playing rock music so loud you couldn't hear conversation. The chairs were shabby and worn. The waiter didn't know the drink nor the food menu. They ran out of both fish listed on menu and catch of the day, even though ours was an early dinner. The tables around us were never bussed (5 of them). We had to wait an inordinate amount of time to be seated even though the restaurant was half empty. I also went here for the same restaurant week as the previous two posters and loved this place. I had the scallops, cioppino, and molten cake. My husband had the lamb chops, the steak, and the cherries jubilee. We both loved everything. And I actually got the fixed wine pairing so that each course came with a glass of wine. So i went here for restaurant week. Which is a 3 course menu, having 3 choices at a set price, $30. The restaurant was inside the Sheraton hotel across the street from the airport. When we got there we were seating at a large table for 6 of us. The seats were low but very comfortable to have a more relaxing environment. The tables were set with wine glasses and the waiter brought us our water glasses. When asked about the wine list the waitress didn't know anything about them because they were apparently changed recently. So I chose a relatively cheap bottle of merlot 2007. It was good, but i dont know much about wines. Amongst 3 of my friends we ordered everything but the creme brule because that was out. We order all 3 so we can taste all of the items. For the appetizers i had the lamp chops. The lamp chops tasted good but i was not into the white bean cassoulet. The edge salad was very good with everything in it and the sea scallops were good as well. If i were to choose 1 I would have chosend the Salad for myself. The second course I loved the New York Steak with bleu cheese and au gratin potatoes. The Cioppino with seafood was good as well with the bread to dip it in. The Ahi Tuna didn't do it for me that night but is came with jasmine rice and wakame salad. Last for dessert we had the warm cherries jubilee and the molten chocolate cake. I would say I normally eat my dessert and people dessert as well but I didn't finish either of them. The cake was rich but I think they are normally like that and the ice cream and cherries was okay. First time visiting the restaurant although I frequent the hotel often. Had a great server in Brian M. I was seated right away. I ordered the Eggs your way; scrambled, hash browns, bacon and wheat toast. The food was hot and fresh, although the hash browns were a bit greasy, but well cooked. Great service with okay food. Wow! Let's talk about exemplary service... Our lead waiter, Marco, made our evening so memorable from start to finish. Our meal was delicious, but it was Marco who really took us to a five star rating, He was positive, friendly, and professional. In short, he brought our evening from good to great! We shared a delicious gem salad, and then had short ribs and lamb as our entrees. Both were fabulous, and afterwards we planned to finish our yummy (and well priced) wine and forgo dessert. Marco brought us each a complimentary small dish of chocolate ice cream at the end of our night, saying he thought it would go great with our nice red wine. I've eaten four breakfasts and one dinner here. I received a breakfast voucher for each night I've stayed at the hotel. The voucher is great - it covers either the buffet or three other items on the menu plus coffee and orange juice. $19 breakfast buffet - lots of choices for fruit and pastries, steel-cut oatmeal, sausages and bacon, several egg dishes, cereals, and yogurt. I especially enjoyed the selection of fruit, focusing on the cherries and berries : ) Dinner was pleasant, not too busy; and I was with my family ranging from elderly to young. My mother uses a walker or wheelchair and was transported to the floor overlooking the marina on a wheelchair elevator that the staff uses for transporting dishware and the like. My younger niece ordered "pasta with tomato sauce" from the kid's menu. My mother had the Pacific Seafood Chowder,which I think is delicious and highly recommend. The rest of us ordered from the list of entrees. The food was good, but I think the presentation left something to be desired - too much food crammed on the plate, except for the halibut entree. My boyfriend and I came in on a Sunday night to have our last dinner during our San Diego trip and while the place had good ambiance and good food, the service was slightly less than mediocre. They were so badly understaffed that when we walked up to the front of the restaurant, it took the hostess 15 minutes to even walk over to where we were, only to be told that it would be a 20 minute wait. The place was almost half-empty, but since they only had 1 or 2 servers for the entire place, we had to wait to be seated. Would've been fine except that 20 minutes came and went, and we still hadn't been seated. When we were finally given a table, it took them a while to get our orders. The waiter was actually very friendly and attentive once we told him what we wanted and it wasn't his fault that he was stretched so thin but I think that the establishment should reconsider how they staff -- if they want good reviews, that is. read more
