Since we are both first timers, we were naturally really nervous about it. Pre-departure, we recieved a lot of communication from Alex regarding what to expect and self checks on our physical conditions. A day before our dive, we received a text from Alex regarding changing of dive spot due to weather conditions. He apologized for the change but he really was looking out for us consumers hoping for the best experience. On the day of dive, Alex was very prompt and had all the gears ready and cleaned for us. We had never been scuba diving before, but our recent trip to Maui was the perfect opportunity to try it. We signed up for an introductory scuba diving session with Alex, and it was an amazing experience! Alex is incredibly patient and knowledgeable, and made us feel safe and comfortable throughout the entire experience. My partner was initially nervous about diving deep, and Alex made sure we were doing alright by checking on us at regular intervals. He gave us very clear instructions on how to prepare for the dive, as well as safety instructions for post-dive. He is very well prepared and checked for the dive conditions ahead of time, and even made preparations for a backup site when the initial location's waters were too rough. The location itself was amazing, and we saw so many beautiful coral and colorful fishes. The highlight was definitely a turtle we spotted! Alex kindly shot many pictures of us underwater with his camera too, so we didn't have to worry about bringing our phone and losing it! Thank you for the wonderful experience Alex! We will definitely try it again when we visit Maui in the future. Just a heads up for future divers: Please make sure you are easily contactable on the day of the dive. The weather and water visibility in Maui is unpredictable, and the location had to be changed an hour before the dive. Alex left messages in Airbnb, text and voice-mail to let me know, but we had left our phone on silent and didn't read it until later. Our instructor, Chris was very knowledgeable and friendly and made us feel very confident and comfortable going down for the first time. 100% WORTH IT! My 66 year old mother and I booked this and we had the best time ever! Alex was super patient in explaining, especially with someone my mother's age. He made sure we understood all the safety measures and made us feel very comfortable. The dive itself was so much fun. I'm not sure how far we went but it felt so long! We saw all different types of fishes, coral, and even a mama and baby turtle. Alex made sure to capture multiple photos of us individually and as a family together. Aloha, What an amazing experience!!! I'm glad I chose Humpback divers for my first time diving adventure. Alex was our diving instructor. I'm a complete beginner and a non-swimmer but Alex made sure I was comfortable the whole time. He chose a diving spot that is easy for beginners and took us to the best coral reefs where you can find abundant wild life. Alex gave us clear instructions on how to use the equipments, made us familiar with the signs and prepared us if something goes wrong. We practiced some of the skills in shallow water before beginning the dive. The dive lasted for about 45 minutes. As I'm a non swimmer Alex was holding me the whole time and ensured I was doing ok. We saw some beautiful corals, colorful fishes and mystical green sea turtles aka Honu and other wild life. It was magical. After the dive he offered some complementary drinks and snacks too. Alex is a great instructor and tailors the experience as per your level and skills. He is very friendly and makes sure you're comfortable before anything and ensures safety. He also split the group if everyone are not at same skill level, so that he can give his best attention and have a good experience for everyone. Last weekend, I booked an Intro to Scuba Diving with Alex. We'd actually been trying to find a snorkel tour, but most were sold out through August, so we decided to try scuba diving instead. Neither of us had ever been scuba diving. My wife can't swim, and although I can swim, I hadn't swam much in recent years. From the very beginning, Alex was welcoming of our lack of experience in the water, and very accommodating. He provided clear instructions to the spot we intended to meet at. When we drove there, despite lack of cellular reception, it was easy to find and park. Upon meeting in person, he explained all the equipment in detail and made us feel comfortable each step of the way. We were among a group of 4 total divers. Once in the water, Alex showed us how to use our equipment, how to troubleshoot different situations and various hand signals we could use to communicate with him underwater. We took turns practicing one at a time, in a circle, to ensure we understood before actually diving into deeper waters. Next, we started the actual dive, which spanned roughly 25 minutes. It could have gone up to 45 minutes, but I ran out of air because I'd been consuming more oxygen at a faster pace than the other divers. Still it felt like we were under water for a good amount of time. We saw lots of different kinds of fish, live reefs and a couple sea turtles. When we came up to the surface of the water, I was shocked at how far out we were in the ocean! I'd never been that far out, and it was hard to tell how far we'd gone when we were underwater. It was very cool to have gone that far! Even though my wife couldn't swim, she felt incredibly comfortable throughout the experience, even more comfortable than she would at a swimming pool. It was really nice of Alex to hold onto her throughout the time we were underwater (I'd guess it's not easy to do). We both enjoyed the diving very much. We got to know Alex a bit more after the dive, and he also provided beverages which was a nice touch, since we didn't realize how thirsty we were :) Alex also shared recommendations for food and other activities on the islands. He referred us to his friend Chris for snorkeling, which also turned out to be an amazing experience. Thanks Alex for wonderful dive, it was really nice connecting with you! We had a fantastic time diving with Alex. It was our first time and Alex made us feel comfortable as he taught us basic safety skills and prepared us mentally for our dive. In the water, he was incredibly patient and helped us feel like we were in the safest of safe hands. It was both mine and my brother's first time scuba diving so we had no idea what to expect but Alex was great at explaining everything especially how to stay safe under water which I very much appreciated because I was a bit nervous about doing it. Likewise, when we were in the water he would constantly check up on us to make sure we were ok. My uncle also dove with us and he was a bit uneasy because he had bad experience scuba diving in Mexico because the instructor he had there didn't seem to care about his diver's safety however, Alex made him feel at ease. Alex was very thorough on his intro explanation and made us feel very much at ease at our first scuba dive. I deeply appreciate the fact that Alex - knowing I'm from Brazil - converted all units (like pressure, height, and mass) from imperial to metric as he was teaching us the fundamentals.
