There are a few issues though , one seems silly, but "building" a bowl has so many options it's mind numbing and takes a while to choose as you walk around the counter. I imagine if it's busy it would have a huge line as you go through and select from dozens of options (every one that I got was exceptional). So they need a better system to order on site as online solves this issue (though you might not realize what you could have ordered had you seen it in person). The other issue was a bit of a language barrier, which made ordering even more challenging. But - I highly recommend this place. You get plenty of great food (we both took enough home to have another meal from it.) You really should try this place if you're in IV. read more

I know Hummus Republic is a chain but this spot is great! Totally a great place to get a bit of variety in my meals when I eat out in IV. I usually go to this shop pretty late into the day, and service is still good. Chill vibe here and there is ample outdoor seating on their patio! I appreciate the variety of food that is served here as well. I usually find myself going for a wrap or a pita. This place loads up on proteins and toppings no matter what. No skimping done here whatsoever. I favor the lemon chicken and falafel for my meals, and I get all the *free toppings*, sometimes adding artichokes if I'm feeling it. A wrap usually feeds me for two meals because of how large it is! Servings are big and definitely worth the price! I wouldn't have gone in if I knew that points couldn't be used and I'd have to pay extra for more than 1 scoop of tzatziki. The actual bowl is also a lot smaller here than in Ventura, kinda seems like they're trying to gyp students. The food at this location is also very dry and rather bland. I'm a huge fan of Mediterranean food and was sooo excited to try this spot! I love visiting Isla Vista (yay UCSB!) and getting to sit on Pardall while eating lunch was so nice. This spot definitely has Chipotle-ordering type of vibes- build your own bowl and look through the window casing to inform the staff of what you want included. The amount of options are endless! So many unique toppings, dressings, hummus varieties, and proteins. You can do multiple of some choices at no extra cost. Plus, you can even get pita on the side to go with a bowl! It was so clean and inviting inside the restaurant. My only feedback is the staff were moving pretty slowly, the line of customers was definitely building, so picking up the pace to get to customers more quickly would be helpful! I haven't had much Mediterranean food before, but the food here was a nice break from the rest of the American-Mexican fast food in Isla Vista. When they were making our burrito, they accidentally ripped the wrap a little bit and they offered to replace it with another wrap which I thought was pretty nice. There's a line sometimes but service moves pretty fast so the wait isn't that long. Spinach Wrap - 4/5, Chicken shawarma is so good. I split the burrito with someone and just the half was enough to fill me up. I will say the burrito broke through the wrap within the first 2 minutes which was a little disappointing. I ended up having to use a fork to finish the rest. Street Style Sweet Potato Fries - 3.5/5, I wish there was sauce to make this less dry. Honestly felt like more of a salad with fries than a "street style fries" dish. The individual elements were really good though. The fries were warm and waffle-cut. The chickpea croutons had a really pleasant mouth feel. My favorite part was the eggplant though. Recently became a fan of eggplants and these bad boys were cooked to perfection. Such a smoky flavor and somehow crispy yet creamy. 10/10 just for the eggplant. read more

I would love to try the mushroom shawarma next time I go. The first time I visited, I asked for the chicken shawarma not realizing there was very little left. Before I had a chance to ask for the Moroccan steak instead, the server scooped up the last few dried up bits of chicken and dumped them in my bowl. It was only their second day open so I thought I'd try again a week or so later and give them another chance. After biting in, my enthusiasm for the new restaurant faded. The couscous was crunchy and undercooked, and poorly seasoned. The pita had a tough texture and no taste. The falafel was undercooked, salty, and soggy. I only ended up finishing about half my meal. The best part was the hummus, and even that was mediocre, and I wasn't given much of it anyway. Got a build-your-own bowl with Moroccan steak and lemon chicken. I thought the Moroccan steak was kind of hard to chew and the lemon chicken was too salty. For spread, I got Tzatziki, traditional, and jalapeño. Maybe I got the wrong spreads, but I didn't like the combination that much - it was a little confusing and they were all too salty for my preference. I got couscous and beans for the base, and it was okay but I wish that there were more base options such as rice. On a good note, the pita bread was really good. Pita 8.96/10- this was actually so delicious. Hummus republic allows you to get 3 spreads (includes variations of hummus and tzatziki sauce, as well as a feta spread), your choice of protein (you can get 2 different protein choices), and unlimited toppings, as well as a base (choice between kale/spring mix, chickpeas, and couscous). I got the chicken shawarma for both my protein options, chickpeas as my base, traditional hummus and roasted red pepper hummus as well as tzatziki on the side for my 3 spreads, and then cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, Kalamata olives, and feta for the toppings. They also let u choose 3 sauces however I didn't get any. I actually thoroughly enjoyed this pita as the pita bread itself was warm, fluffy, and fresh and paired phenomenally with my toppings. The chicken shawarma was incredibly fresh (I feel like with their protein it really depends on when you go cause sometimes some aren't too fresh or seasoned enough, and other days it's phenomenal). All the toppings were really fresh. I got the tzatziki on the side because I feel that their sauces or dips can sometimes make the food a bit watery/soggy but this was perfect. Super tasting and filling. They give you a lot of protein which I really like and I feel like it makes for a really great meal in IV that's not terribly unhealthy + all the ingredients are super fresh.
