Had a late lunch at Hummus Café after seeing a movie at the Warren. I arrived about 2:30 on a Wednesday and there were 3 tables seated. I was immediately approached by a server to take my drink order. The menu is large and has the favorites you'd expect at a Greek/Mediterranean place. I went with the gyro plate with rice instead of French fries and a small side of hummus. It was a good value for $10 for the lunch and only a dollar for the side of hummus. You get a good amount of gyro meat and a huge serving of rice. Since I had the hummus, my pita bread didn't go very far as I was using it both with the meat and the hummus. I should have ordered more. The onions on the side were marinated and had some herbs on them which added some good flavor. The meat is juicy and has the usual seasoning you'd expect from gyro meat. The hummus wasn't the best I'd had, but I'd absolutely get it again. I'd say it's above average. Surprisingly, the rice was seasoned well. It was really good, this is not just white rice on a plate. This is a large and tasty lunch for only $10. I was pleased with the service, but like I said, I went after the lunch rush. By the end of my meal, I was the only one left in the place. In general they are good, though I prefer to get it to go as the service is kinda weird. If I order a sandwich, which comes with fries, when ordered, I have to specifically say when ordering that I want ketchup for the fries. And they don't check on you right away, so if you forget to ask for ketchup or napkins, you wait. Once I came in 30 minutes before they closed to eat in and they gave it to me in a to-go-box. Absolutely some of the best food in the OKC area. As an airline Captain, I've experienced a lot of different takes on hummus and Mediterranean food in general and this place checks all the boxes. We were told their spices are flown in from Jordan and whatever it is they are doing, you can taste the difference. I had a hot tea with fresh mint leaves and we had the sampler appetizer which included their baba ghanoush and a few different hummus varieties. My wife got the chicken Mediterranean fajita and I got the Gyro plate and everything was on point! Their house made tzatziki sauce was amazing delicate and light and all the different ingredients in the sides tasted freshly cooked! Our waitress Jasmine was not only knowledgeable, but she was very friendly and made us feel welcome! This is one of the best restaurants in more as well as the entire Oklahoma City area in my opinion. The wait time was short and the service was alright, a little lagging for as slow as they were. I ordered garlic hummus for an appetizer and the chicken kabob platter. This place gives you a huge portion on food, you definitely get your bang for a buck here. The prices are fairly reasonable and cheap. OUTSTANDING!! First time so I asked my sever and hostess Meagan what her favorite dish was. She lead me to the combo platter of chicken and beef kabobs. I was apprehensive on ordering beef because it can be really dry. Not here! The chicken and beef were marinated and grilled to perfection. Moist and tender throughout. The rice is normally a plate filler but their rice was over the top. I was allowed to sup the fries with a salad and it didn't disappoint. Our favorite Mediterranean food in town. Wait staff is always attentive (thanks Jasmine) Food is fresh and hot. Gyro plate is always moist, best hand cut fries ever! The chicken kabobs are my favorite too. Love the taziki sauce with lots of cucumbers and the Greek salad is full of fresh hand cut veggies. Really good gyros here! A tad on the expensive side, this well kept (somewhat hidden) place serves up some good Mediterranean food, not many places like it in the area that I can think of right now. Very friendly staff, we ordered to go (busy with studies) and the place was somewhat empty, surprising since the food was so good and the pita bread was really good too. Not very busy on a Saturday night. It's a pretty small little corner restaraunt with very nice ambience, very dimly lit. I'll just start by saying it was good, but I've been to a couple better Mediterranean spots within surrounding OKC areas. We started with a jalepeno and garlic hummus mix and I opted to try their stuffed grape leaves. I've had better hummus, i expected a little more flavor but the pita bread was really good, warm and you can tell it was fresh and homemade. The stuffed grape leaves were interesting. I don't have anything to compare them to, they are served wet and cold stuffed with rice, tomatoes and herbs.... Just ok, maybe an acquired taste. My wife ordered the standard gyro with fries, she said the gyro was decent, not much flavor but the fries were really good and freshly cut and seasoned. I had the shish tawook (chicken kabob) with rice and a side salad. Chicken and rice were pretty good but nothing fantastic or something I would have to order again. Presentation on all the food was very good though. Overall, I would go back... but I would probably opt for other options of Mediterranean if given the choice. read more

Hummus!!! Delicious and not too expensive. We started with their namesake, a hummus appetizer. For $4, it comes with two toasted pitas, quartered. There are multiple flavors to choose from and we went with paprika. The meals vary in price from $9-13 on average. For our meal we wanted to try two different dishes and share. My wife had Shish Tawook (Chicken Kabab) $13  Grilled chicken breast skewer marinated in special  homemade sauce rolled with our special garlic sauce and pickles, rice and Greek salad. This restaurant came at the suggestion of a sales rep that was doing business at a local doctor's office. It looked and smelled so good (they had it catered in) so we decided to have it delivered to our house (thanks to a food delivery service that we are using so so often) the same night. We have our favorite Mediterranean dishes and we ordered all those from the Hummus Cafe menu. My oh my it was so good! And so filling! The hummus is the smoothest I've ever had and the cafe has several different recipes and I wished we'd tried the garlic and jalapeño options. The plain hummus was great and I can only dream about how good the others are - so that's def something we'll try next time. Everything from the French fries that were seasoned perfectly to the homemade yogurt sauce was outstanding! The combo plate came with rice and grilled tomato/onion and we paid $3 more for filet beef instead of the kofta. Their chicken is marinated and grilled just right. I also ordered a Greek salad that came with all the critical elements and the most delicious homemade herb olive oil dressing! Man, this place never fails. Good service and good food. I got the falafel basket, rice, Paprika hummus, muhammara, Baba-Ghammouj, pita, and fries. (Me and my SO shared our appetizers with friends) The rice is delicious and buttery. I prefer the falafel basket to the sandwich and order pita with it to make mini sandwiches (I don't like pickles on the actual sandwich). But I specifically asked if the kitchen was taking COVID precautions when ordering, and was lied to. Only one staff member had a mask to pull up when I walked in. ALWAYS GREAT. The restaurant is small and intimate. The service is wonderful each time and there's never a wait. The place feels very comfortable and at ease. I've been here multiple times, and it has been awesome each time. The hummus is good as expected. The gyros are perfectly proportioned and taste amazing. The pita bread is soft and chewy like it should be. The meat pie is literally a sausage pizza, so that was unexpected, but not bad. It's a great place to go when you're craving some greek food! This place is not good, at all. I have no idea who thinks otherwise. People in Moore/South OKC only visit Hummus due to the severe lack of Mediterranean options on this side of town. Don't get me wrong, I want to love this place and have given it multiple chances throughout the years since they opened up, but something goes wrong every. single. time. we visit this place. Most recently, our entire group of diners (5 of us) succumbed to food poisoning after a dinner visit here, so that's lovely. The food is also waaaay too overpriced. Can get gyro combo meal all day with bigger portions and drink for $5.99- $6.99. It was one of the better tasting gyros but it wasnt $3.00 better than most.
