Wow. Solid Mediterranean food. They seriously have one of the best salads ever with a generous amount of cucumbers, tomatoes and green olives - beyond refreshing! We also love their steak and kefta kabobs, which are both really tender and flavorful. The cucumber mint lime drink is also a great way to cap off a meal here. The owner is super enthusiastic and unbelievably sweet! His joy for food and the community is truly contagious. Just recently tried their burger special, the burger was cooked perfectly, I substituted the fries for salad and got a the pineapple beverage. The beverage was watered down but it was an hour before closing time and the container where it was stored in was almost empty so I won't hold it against them. I'm not even from the area nor do I work or visit the city really at all, but I just happened to make a pit stop to pick up Jamba Juice next door and realized that I was actually hungry and saw on Yelp that Hummus Bean was just right there and I definitely had a Mediterranean craving that morning! While waiting for my order at jamba, I decided to put an order in on the app not realizing they had just barely opened at 10 am and I believe it was about 10:15 when I ordered. I strolled over there after jamba at about 10:25 and tried to open the doors but they were locked. I was confused for a moment but someone opened the door and I let them know I had placed an online order and that I knew I was early but just wanted to let them know I was there waiting. The guy had seen my name come up and told me it'd be about 15-20 minutes. There was a lovely little courtyard outside the front doors that's also shared with corner bakery and Starbucks. A bunch of tables and chairs outside and people sitting with their laptops and earphones on and just casual conversations going on between people and it was just a nice morning that I wished I could be a regular in the area. I waited patiently for my order and the same guy brought it outside to me at about 10:49 or so. I ordered the chicken wrap combo with fries ($10.95) for my bfs lunch and a falafel salad ($11.95) for myself. It was DELICIOUS. It hit the spot and I know I don't really have falafel much but it was as good as other Mediterranean places I've gone to and I've never had bad ones or bad experiences. It was so appetizing with the combo of a spring mix, feta cheese, diced tomatoes, cucumber slices, bell peppers, and olives. I honestly do not like olives at all but I think it paired nicely with everything so I didn't have to pick them out or anything. I seriously could not stop eating all of it! I visit hummus bean every few months while in town for work. Today was my first visit since the management change and will be my last. I purchased the shawarma plate combo that included 75% fries, 15% cold veggies, 5% coleslaw, and 5% chicken shawarma pita wrap. I guess my expectations were high, but I would've enjoyed eating more than one ounce of chicken. The chicken was dry but edible after drenching in garlic and tzatziki sauce. Bummer! read more
