We stopped by the first night to pickup some coffee, a chocolate chip cookie treat, and a box of macrons to go. The shop is absolutely adorable from entrance to exit! Even before entering we loved the adorable building with perfect blue paint with white trim on the red brick. The building is well maintained and clean. While it is small, they keep the space streamlined and open. The baked good window, the sweet treats fridge, and coffee/tea areas are all distinct with their own personalities and delicious displays. On top of the clean and inviting space, prices were reasonable for such high quality products and staff were friendly and inviting. The line can sometimes be long, but it is worth the wait. Lots to love here! Back to the food, the chocolate chip cookie didn't make it far. We ate it right outside and loved every decadent bite. The cold brew was refreshing and tasty. We ate the macrons throughout the day and loved every bite! My favorites were the lemon and pistachio. My husband's favorites were the vanilla and birthday cake. The flavors were very prominent and delicious. Yum! Our final day, we wanted to try the breakfast! While I got ready at the Airbnb, my husband went to get the 2 Empanada Meal that comes with a fruit cup. We also got cold brew coffee and a Chipa. Everything was so scrumptious and fresh! The fruit cup was a perfect healthy pair to the baked goods. The empanadas were both great. We tried the "Egg, Sausage, & Cheddar" and "Egg White, Tomato, Basil, Spinach & Parmesan" empanadas. Both were great and we couldn't pick a favorite. We were glad we got both. The chipa was also so good...unlike anything we've had before. Per their website, it is a "Savory Cheese Biscuit made with tapioca flour, Cheddar cheese, & Parmesan cheese. Gluten Free." If you have never tried a Chipa, we would recommend it! And once again, the cold brew was perfect! Galena Bakehouse has won our hearts and tummies! We look forward to stopping by the next time we are in town!

The morning of, we noticed the weather was perfect and asked to move our reservation outside and they happily accommodated us with no problem. They started us off with chips and pico de gallo. I asked for extra salsa roja and salsa verde. The pico had a nice kick, the roja had a smoky flavor, and the verde was more on the roasted side. Unfortunately, I wasn't a big fan of the verde, which was a bummer since it's usually my favorite. The chunky guac, though, was a solid 10/10. The margarita flights were 30% off, so that was an easy choice. Tons of flavor options to pick from, which was fun. For my main, I went with the Suizo burrito topped with melted Chihuahua cheese. I didn't love it -- maybe I'm spoiled living in the Quad Cities where we've got incredible Mexican spots on every corner. Something about it just felt a little off. To top it off, we were constantly swatting away flies at our table, which didn't help. Still, the service was great and our server was super friendly and attentive. Overall, it was a good dinner, and I'd definitely go back... just to try something different next time.

A thinner soup but the flavor was delectable! The Scottish egg was over the top with a beautiful curry aioli sauce. The sausage encasing the egg was neither greasy or salty but packed with flavor. It has a lot more room than expected with enough space for live music. As for the drinks and food they're good stuff also. The prices can be high but it's not crazy for the atmosphere and quality. Basically this is one of the first places one encounters when entering town from the east. It's located in the Irish Cottage Inn & Suites. The hotel itself is very nice and has lots of amenities of its own if wanting to stay there. As for the restaurant itself it's one of the highlights. It's about $8 for an Irish coffee, which is a classic in the morning, evening, or whenever. Amazingly they have non dairy options including Bailey's Dairy Free Toffee Cream. It's about $18 or more for an entree which is a lot. We were able to find a few plant based options. I got the Roasted Squash Bowl. This has broccolini, farro, heirloom tomato relish, pickled red cabbage, and white beech mushrooms. An earthy flavor. She had the Vegan Shepherd's Pie. An alternative made with faux beef and mushroom gravy There's also plenty of meaty options like beef medallions. For sure it's one of the nicer restaurants around here. It's closed Mondays. They amazingly have a few things for vegans and vegetarians.
