Jody helped my friend and her daughter, and so I used Jody. When my son needed to get pre-approved we of course recommended Jody. My son was able to get a seller to carry with the plan to refinance with Jody's help in a couple of years. I planned to sell my Trinidad house and have Jody help with purchasing a home closer to my son in a year. Today, the seller backed out. My son called Jody for advice. Jody said there was nothing to do. He had my son on speaker and before he hung up said to someone,"he screws me out of a job then wants me to help him," and laughed. His first experience buying a home, and on top of our recommendations and planning a long relationship with you, this is what he got. I've told my friends, they are so disappointed. You've lost not only our business but our respect. read more

I recently bought a home and had Jody do the arrangements for obtaining a loan. He kept me informed and up-to-date at every milestone. and, he and his team were pleasant to work with. I will use his company again when I buy another home. read more

Top notch service, couldn't be in better hands, great loan cost every time. Jody didn't just get me a great loan that beat my bank and big lenders every time, he truly took the time to teach me about the finances, spelling out the math, and breaking down the tradeoffs that can be so confusing about purchasing a home. What he took the time to teach me has transcended to other aspects of finance and investing in my life and he has been one of the most influential people I've had the good fortune to meet. Jody and Erika are a great team who helped me with three home loans over 8 years, including my 0% down VA loan I just closed on, a 20% down conventional loan, and a refinance (2.125%!). Their accountability, responsibility, and trustworthiness is beyond what I would expect in this day and age, it's very reassuring to work with them in what can be a very stressful process. When big companies have lost that personal touch, it's great to know that there are still small firms like Humboldt Home Loans who do business the old fashioned way. read more

My husband and I were buying our first home and had no clue what we were doing. Mark and Felicia were our agents, referred to us through a friend, and they were awesome. They took the time to find out what we wanted, were transparent about any issues a house may have to the point of telling us when something probably wasn't a good idea. When we found one they were with us every step of the way, even after the sale was done. Caitlin worked with us on the financial end and was so patient with our endless basic questions and panics. We've been here for a few weeks and still she is there for us. I can't recommend them enough. This is a really big deal for us. It was probably the most stress either my husband or I have ever been through, but it was much easier with such a great team. read more

Advised a hard working, low income, single parent to "find a partner with a larger income and then come back". A waste of time to talk to if you want real advice. Promised a "follow up call or email", never received that, so I am following up on Yelp. I love my new home, found a loan program that worked for my income and got ZERO help from the hour I wasted being treated like trash at Humboldt Home Loans. read more

I can't say enough about Jody Harper @ Humbodlt Home Loans. He has been giving me advice on buying a home since 2010, long before I was in a position to buy property in Humbodlt County. Jody showed me the steps that I needed to take to get my credit on track, and when I was ready, he walked me through buying our house easily and with no unexpected issues. I highly recommend Jody Harper to anyone who wants to buy a house, and needs to get a loan. read more

John Fesler went above and beyond for us when we were buying our first home. He exceeded all of our expectations and was on our side and there for us every single step of the way (and even after when we had some follow-up questions). Thank you, John!!!!! read more

When our real estate agent, Michelle Rowland, referred us to Jody Harper to secure financing for our short sale, I was hesitant as we wanted to go through our long-standing bank, USAA. Jody and Timna swiftly demonstrated that the personal touch can go even farther when you have a skilled team at the ready! Once we got our short sale approval, Jody and Timna (having gathered all the necessary docs ahead of time) went into full force and managed to close escrow way ahead of the estimated 45 days -- even over Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thank you Jody & Timna for helping us snag an excellent loan (and interest rate) for our new home! read more

Jody was instrumental in helping me and my wife purchase our first home. He was patient and accessible and very gracious. Clearly Jody's goal was not just to sell a product but he was interested in educating us and helping us make informed decisions. Looking back six years now and we couldn't be happier with our decision. I would recommend Jody Harper to any local buyer and I'll be using his services again in my next purchase. read more

I highly recommend Jody Harper as your next home loan officer ... totally the best we have ever worked with. He, along with our wonder real estate agent, Duane Ashbach at ReMAX Humboldt, made our experience with purchasing our home both enjoyable and smooth sailing, as we were living in another state during our purchase. They were there for us at every contact we made regarding any questions or concerns we had. The timing was perfect for our closing, as they made sure we would be able to sign papers and move in as soon as we arrived to Eureka. I am forever grateful for those two and their professional knowledgeable expertise and for their down to earth, caring and thoughtful personalities. Jody and Duane, you are the best!! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. read more

I expressed to my financial adviser Sara Goodwin that I wanted to buy a house and she recommended I talk to Jody Harper. He crunched my numbers and let me know all of my options and what he would lend on and what to expect every step of the way. I knew nothing about the process and he takes the time to explain but with him there isn't a lot you have to know because he and Caitlin have it all handled for you. We closed early and it all went remarkably smooth. read more

Jody and Caitlin were amazing and so supportive through what is generally a stressful process. Jody has worked with us for a couple of years to get to the point where we could buy our own home. Not only did we get there, Jody and Caitlin got our escrow to close early! We cannot recommend them enough! read more

When we purchased out first home last year, both our real estate agent and loan guy were recommended by a co-worker of mine and they were both top notch! And by loan guy I mean Jody Harper! He was very easy to work with and took the time that we needed to explain the inner workings of home loans to us newbies. If you want someone who is passionate about getting you the best loan out there for your personal situation, go with Jody!! You will not be disappointed in the slightest! read more

It was a great experience working with Jody. We were working with another loan officer before and it didn't work out. Jody was quick and professional. He would have closed our loan a lot sooner than the 45 day escrow if only our house was ready. I would recommend Jody to anybody seeking a home loan. read more

I rate Humboldt Home Loans a 5 Star. John Fesler has helped me with 2 home loans and 1 loan refinancing. I have to say I was extremely nervous dealing with loan companies. In my case I just did not trust anybody with my information and I was afraid I would be taken advantage of with hidden fees or hidden interest rates. John amazed me. He is not one to sugar coat realities. He provided me honest professional knowledge and upfront information. He knows the business. You will find out exactly what I mean when you talk to him. He is good at what he does. I felt that he took good care of me as if this was his own personal investment. He is not about quantity but quality. I worked hard to save my money and buy a house. This was a big deal and very important to me. I needed to get it right the first time. John understood that. Over the years I was eager to buy additional property. I felt my situation was good and I was ready to commit. But John being straight forward and very knowledgeable in this business has advised me against bad deals. He has saved me from from at least 3 headaches and financial ruin. He saw the numbers a lot better than I did. He could have let me fall and pocketed the money. But that is not him. He believes that if his customers succeed, he succeeds. read more

I have bought and sold more than ten properties in Humboldt and deal with mortgage brokers all the time as a local real estate attorney. I was referred to Jody by my longtime realtor, Clyde Akamine, when, for our latest deal, I asked for a mortgage broker who was going to find us the best loan with the absolute lowest fees. Simply put, Jody Harper exceeded my expectations, and went above and beyond. Not only was our loan interest rate the best possible rate we could have possibly found, the cost of the loan and his fixed fee were both rock bottom. As if that wasn't enough, Jody stayed in constant, daily contact throughout a very complex loan process that involved money coming to the deal from multiple sources. There's no doubt in my mind that without Jody steering the ship, the deal would have fallen out of escrow before close. To sum it all up, I will never deal with another mortgage broker in Humboldt other than Jody, who has earned my trust, and I have already referred my own clients to him. Jody is the man!!! read more

Jody excels at explaining the process and is reassuring through the whole transaction. We worked long- distance with him and it was flawless. read more

See Jody Harper at Humboldt Home Loans. He was great. He worked hard for us and got us approved and through Escrow as quickly as possible.

I recently completed a complex, demanding and somewhat unlikely transaction in which I sold a house in the Florida Keys, implemented a 1031 federal tax exemption on the property and subsequently purchased a second home in Arcata, CA...all in 60 days! (BTW, I live in Arizona, to make matters more difficult.) I was fortunate enough to have found Humboldt Home Loans online to assist with the overwhelming responsibility of the sale, purchase, and all things pertinent to said transactions; specifically, I must credit the efforts of Jody Harper (and his assistant, Timna) who guided us from start to finish with impeccable professionalism, expertise and honesty. The process was grueling at times, and perpetually frustrating, but Jody was unflappable, encouraging one minute and cautious the next, allowing me to tend to matters knowing that behind the scenes all was well. I cannot thank him enough for all he did. Additionally, I had the opportunity to meet him in person when we drove up north to take possession of the property and he proved to be just as genuine, friendly and hardworking as I'd imagined. Trust me...not all loan agents are created equal. I would heartily recommend Jody and his staff to anyone seeking to buy or sell a property in the Humboldt area. Thanks for everything, Jody. We truly appreciate the service you provided. Best of luck. read more
