If your looking for a dive bar experience, offering a good pour in the glass, and local yokal entertainment , look no further... decent liquor selection, entertainment with pool tables, shuffle board and digital poker, this is the place to visit.

We got the recommendation for breakfast from the HD dealer and perhaps she didn't take into consideration that we were a group of 12 and we overwhelmed the poor wait staff and most importantly the solo cook! The food was good, I chanced the chicken fried steak, and it was enormous....well beyond my expectations. So if you're in a hurry, bypass the Humboldt Club but if a leisurely breakfast is your goal, stop in.

Steaming pile of Sheppard's Pie. Just awful.

Do not waste your time coming here and if you don't believe me, see the picture. I have no idea why I thought I'd be okay with coming to this hole in the wall. During St. Patrick's Day my fiancé and I decided to walk to a local bar for a beer and corned beef and cabbage. Our first stop was Liberty Pub. We walked in and the place was just packed. Everyone looked like they were having a great time and the corned beef and cabbage looked great as we walked around to check out the place. Unfortunately the place had too long of a wait, so we opted to try another bar. Across the street is where The Humboldt club was and having never been to any of these bars, I thought it would be fine. Nope. There are basically three areas to be in this place. You walk in, there's the bar and small seating to the right, against a wall. On the other side of that wall is a room meant for dining. No one was in the dining room. Then beyond the bar and initial seating were darts, pool table...or two. The place was absolutely dead beyond the small crowd in front. So we ordered an Irish car bomb to start the festivities, then we were directed if we wanted to eat, take a seat and someone would stop by. So we sat down, waited and waited. I stood up and just asked for menus to get a head start. Our waitress/bar back came by and took our drink order and we discussed food. My fiancé orders the French dip, I was torn by the buffalo chicken sandwich or the Sheppard's pie so I asked the lady, "Which one should I go with?" She immediately recommended the Sheppard's pie, so I said fine. She then grabs the menu and turns around, then comes back and said, "By the way, we don't have a cook." Wait, WHAT? She mentions that they haven't had a cook in several months and that usually the bartender or her will cook it. I look at my fiancé and we decided to bite the bullet and boy did we EVER regret it. After what seemed an eternity, our waitress comes back with our meals. I immediately understand why she chose the Sheppard's pie over the buffalo chicken. My dried out lack thereof a meal was easily microwaved, where I could've been poisoned by the chicken (I guess I should thank her). Words cannot describe the pile of crap I received. The fries were soaking in grease, they actually looked like a combination of all the fries people have left on their dishes in the past week, put into one pile and refried. They were soggy, limp, and just tasted awful. The beef under the mash was dry, hard, and flavorless. The mash was just a block, and the cheese...ughhhh. My fiancé didn't enjoy hers either. Her bread was hard, meat which looked like store bought slices, and her Au Jus was just a beef bouillon cube. It being late, we decided to eat it. I got though over half and decided to call it quits. I go up to get my tab, discussed the food with the overzealous young bartender who told me to take it up with the owner. All I asked was a discount, being that they didn't have a cook they should've told customers before taking their order. I just wanted to get out. This was probably the second time in my life I had not left a tip. Do yourself a favor; don't give this place your business. The food is a waste. Go across the street to Liberty Pub and enjoy yourself. You won't find satisfaction from this so called establishment.

I highly recommend the Humboldt club for breakfast. Old school down home breakfast, some of the best I have had.

We were seated right away and our waitress gave us window seating so we could have a river view. I told the waitress it was my daughters birthday, hoping they would do something special for her later. We ordered a few drinks and made our food order. It took about 20 minutes before we were served. I ordered the burger and fries. My hubby ordered the fish and chips and my daughter ordered the mac N cheese. Everything looked good, however, my fries were lacking warmth and my burger bun was stale. It was not soft and fresh. I ended up not eating the bun, but just the burger itself. My daughters mac N cheese wasn't as great as she expected either. It was bland and dry. Yes, it had cheese, but it was stringy and not creamy. My husband loved his fish and chips. Hot and fresh and looked amazing. I did have a bite and it did taste really good. Note taken: Do NOT order anything but the fish and chips. When we were finished a new waitress gave us our receipt and asked if we needed anything else. I wanted to tell her we needed more water, but we were ready to go. I wish they would have filled up the carafe of water "before" I was about to leave. And..on top of that...no birthday surprise for my daughter. Some places sing a song or give a small dessert. But nope...not here. Oh well...I think I'll skip this place for any kind birthday celebrations.

The sign is quite faded so we were not sure that this was the NoBe food pod we had read about. It was nearly 2:00 and we were starving. So we pulled in, there are 3 carts SweetHeart's Chicks and Shakes, Amigas and West Coast Bitez. Bitez was shuttered, so we had Sweetheart's and Amigas to choose from. We both went with SweetHearts's. Fabulous choice. I went with the Chicken Poutine my partner went with the Chicken breast and fries. We sat down to wait for our meal. The picnic tables were very nice, clean and sturdy, the area had the outdoor grass laid out. We had maybe a 10 -15min wait. Seems we got the last lunch of the day as Sweethearts had had such a busy lunch rush. When we tucked into our meal we found out why she had won so many awards and sold out by 2:00pm. Portions are grandma generous, chicken though boneless breast meat, is very moist and tender. Chicken crust is thin and perfectly crunchy. My poutine was nicely spicy with a sausage gravy. Which I suspect was pork gravy, did some guilt eating on this. But it was so good. The fries are phenomenal, interesting shell like shape, but perfectly crispy and golden .
