Wow. Was not expecting this place to be so good. Typically when you run into hole in the wall spots, you're automatically thinking the food is going to be subpar and flavorless given the appearance, but because of a friend's recommendation we decided to give it a try. And hot damn... the food was pretty epic.
We were four, two of us got bowls and the other two ordered the classic burger. We are all vegetarian/vegan by the way. My gf and I got the Seitan and black bean tofu bowl. The Seitan was really juicy with a chewy yet satisfying texture, unlike some of the other Seitan I've tried at other popular vegetarian spots in Kreuzberg and fhain. Tofu was also good but I really liked the Seitan. You have the option of choosing between a few different sauces. We got the lemongrass and cilantro lime. Both were good but have to tip my hat to the lemongrass.
So the bowls were fantastic but what really surprised me were the burgers. I was definitely not expecting the taste or quality to be so good. At first impression I thought this place was only specializing in the bowls but turns out the burgers were also super nice. For the classic burger, they use a fried crispy tofu patty with vegan cheese. Important for me is when a burger has good texture. The bun was soft but crispy like toast, and the tomatoes lettuce and pickles were perfectly crisp. They use a house special mayo with a bit of a spicy tang. My friend offered me a bite of his burger and I accidentally ate half and had to order him another... but it was worth.
Only issue with this place is there's currently no indoor seating. We had to sit outside and it was kind of cold. Didn't like that. The exterior is not really pretty. The benches are kind of wobbly but I guess that's the compromise you make for good food. Your typical "hole in the wall."
I'll def be coming back!
TLDR: Hole in the wall vegan spot. Awesome food but no indoor seating :( read more
