Honestly it was just meh... Lunch special "M3" was a stir fried "chicken" dish. It is served with rice. Basically it's veggies and thin sliced seitan swimming in an excessive pool of sweet and sour sauce. Flavor and presentation were both lacking. Disappointment comes cheap at €10.5 but on the bright side you do get a drink or appetizer with the entree. Cannot recommend. read more

Food here was absolutely amazing!! We got the tofu in peanut satay, fried dumplings, red curry, and bao buns (ate those before we took a picture) and everything was a hit! Overall I was not impressed with my experience at Soy. Sure, the ambiance was nice, but the food and service were mediocre. VEGETABLE DUMPLINGS: I was so excited when I removed the lid and saw the vegetable dumplings. My excitement quickly dwindled after trying one. They dumplings were mushy and lacked in flavor. PHO CHAY - I wanted to love this pho, but I unfortunately didn't. The broth lacked in flavor. It ate oily and salty. They were stingy on the noodles. On the plus side, it did taste fresh, and the vegetables were cooked well. Also, the tofu was really good! Lastly, I get that it was busy, but I felt rushed. After I finished eating, I went to the bathroom. When I got out, my table was already cleaned and people were about to sit down. I would be open to trying Soy again if I was in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way. Cash only. This place is so great! My boyfriend and I went here on a Friday evening. The sun was out and it was well visited. Ordered starters: Mangosalad and Dumplings. As a non-vegetarian, I have to say Soy have made me happy every time I went there. There is a wide range is options to prefer from. All tasty and all brilliantly made. Super fresh and very different from other vegetarian/vegan places you find in berlin. The menu is quiet elaborate but so is the food. The stew selection is also as good as the food selection. Starting from the appetizer, tried the marinated tofu wrapped in betel leaves, the homemade salad with rice paper strips and the summer roll and all were amazingly tasty. Tried the stuffed tofu stewed in a claypot with traditional spice blend and seitan. Very tasty and pretty unique. Highly recommend. The service is quiet fast. The restaurant is hip, cozy and relax. Really, really, REALLY good food! Love it! I came here because of the vegan food. It was around 19:00 o'clock and the place was really loud and crowded, but I didn't mind (even though I was alone). I don't remember the name of the dish I ordered, but it had udon-noodles, tofu, seitan, vegetables and delicious soy sauce. It was a perfect meal to have after a long day of walking and travelling. The second time I came here, I ordered the dish number 44. It was so good that I almost felt sad when I was halfway trough. After that I ordered a Vietnamese coffee, which was also good. The coffee took like ~15 minutes to drip down to the glass, and because it was the only coffee on the menu, I wish there were maybe a couple more choices of regular coffees to choose from. Still water costs 2,50€, which I think is too expensive. Somebody once said that a good restaurant doesn't charge for water. It bothered me a little, because the bottle was so small and I drink a lot while eating. I like the atmosphere at the restaurant and the staff knows their stuff; they're quick to deliver the meals and also polite. Also the most important note for tourists like me: it's not super expensive. Both meals I ordered were around ~11€ and they're really big and will definitely fill you up. If you want to eat in quiet, I recommend going there around 16:00 o'clock. read more

We got there just before 6 PM and barely got a table before the joint filled up with a mix of young locals and their international visitors. Food is authentic and delicious. Mom went the less adventurous route with stir fried rice noodles, tofu and veggies. The portion was way too big for one person. More tofu for me! I got the marinated tofu wrapped in shiso leaves, on a bed of steamed rice, fresh salad, herbs and crushed peanuts. OMG flavor orgasm in my mouth. Unbelievable. I really didn't have room for dessert but their options are simply too tempting to pass up. The warm banana wrapped in sweet sticky rice and sprinkled with peanuts. Ridiculous, 100% crave worthy. I am not a vegan. In fact, I actively avoid vegan food because I like having eggs and cheese in my life (free range, don't worry). However, this is vegan food as it should always be. I have tried a few asian vegan restaurant in Berlin lately, and SOY is certainly on the top of the list. I wanted to try something a little different than what I order usually and opted for 56, caramelized tofu with shiitake mushrooms, carrots, onions, garlic and spicy sweet and sour sauce, all toped with crushed peanuts. It was divine. I'm usually not the greatest fan of tofu but here, it spoke directly to my heart. The steamed dumplings are also really good as well as the sauce accompanying them. I have to say, I didn't believe in vegan food before, but if I had to eat at Soy for the rest of my life, I might STILL be able die happy. Soy is vegan-friendly, but still has non-vegan options to diversify the menu. I have to say, everything looked absolutely delicious. I had the sautéed rice noodles myself, and every single component of the dish tasted incredible and was cooked perfectly. We came in on a pretty busy night, but it only took about 15 minutes for our party of 3 to be seated. The service is sporadic- the day I was there, there were probably 4 waiters servicing ~80 people which was insane. We didn't get much attention, and had to shift tables once because a large group came in. The food also took a very long time to arrive. It was well worth it though, and even with the relatively poor service, I still rate this a 5/5. HIGHLY recommend. read more

We were pretty impressed with this place. They do a sort of melange of different Asian styles here, including Vietnamese, Thai and Chinese. We ordered the Pho Chua, a spicy sour veggie noodle soup with lemongrass and galangal. Quite tasty and decent portions - would've liked some veggies in there, as it only came with seitan, tofu and mushrooms, all of which were nice. We also ordered a couple Asian tapas: a steamed veggie bun, which only comes as one giant bun; and the papaya salad, which was solid but needed some spice. Was super impressed with how good the food is here! The restaurant is huge for Berlin, but surprisingly it was really quiet when I went (mid-day Saturday). Either way, great Asian flavours at a fair price. I had the Pho Tron and it was super refreshing, filling and definitely satisfied my taste buds. The decor, the music and especially the flavor on each dishes are spectacular. Vegans and vegetarians can order anything from the menu. Appetizers were so tasteful that we could be eating them all night long. Drinks are homemade lemonades with different flavors. Ginger and strawberries were the winner in our table. So happy to have stumbled upon this place during my stay in Berlin. Luckily for me, it was just down the street from my hostel, but I would gladly travel to go there. The food is THAT good. This restaurant is entirely vegan. Very impressive even for a Southern California girl like myself. I went almost everyday, sometimes multiple times a day and the food is consistently delicious, while service can be a tad bit slow at times which is the reason I've deducted a star. I always order their fried spring rolls as an appetizer along with some noodle or curry dish. You can't go wrong with any of their options. Just try something... anything! You won't be disappointed. My advice would be to come here during lunch time. They have a lot of options. Their lunch specials are portioned perfectly and come with either an egg roll, spring roll, and my personal choice, watermelon juice, which is so fresh and naturally sweet. read more

I ate here twice in my time in Berlin. One night I got take out and another I ate in. The food was significantly better when I ate at the restaurant versus the take out. I tried the glass noodle dish, the fried dumplings, the summer rolls, the rice noodle with tofu and seitan dish, and the steamed rice and oyster mushroom dish. My favorite dish was the steamed rice and mushroom dish as it was flavorful and a huge portion. Actually in terms of portion, all of the dishes were pretty large sized. I wouldn't recommend the rice noodle with tofu and seitan because it was the least flavorful out of all the dishes, but I also ordered it take out so perhaps it's better in the restaurant. I had never tried fried dumplings before and am used to them being steamed. I would probably order the steamed over the fried as they were really greasy. The summer rolls were refreshing and light. The ambiance is nice and friendly and the service was good. Would recommend, but not for take out. read more

I'm here in Berlin for a short Holiday and stopped by to eat because of the reviews. I was not disappointed in their service and food. I forgot the name of the dish I ordered but it was delicious. It had caramelized mushroom, tofu( very very delicious), broccoli and other vegetables. I later ordered dessert, the mango sticky rice and i enjoyed it, although for preferences I would opt from the peanuts. Youthful pop music that is a little too loud and with a very limited number of songs. I heard one song three times during my 1,5 hour visit. The decoration is mediocre and everybody seems to lay their coats on the benches next to them giving it a very much fast food kind of atmosphere. Food wise I had nothing to complain. Most food was slightly spiced and of original composition. Really enjoyed that. In the toilet there was one toilet broken (and signposted as such) and there was no more paper to dry your hands with (with no alternative dry blower).
