We visited here to have pho on a rainy day and I'm so glad we did! As soon as we stepped in, I was awed by the beautiful design and the lovely atmosphere of Cao Cao. I started with Jasmine tea and it was delicious. We had the steak pho the vegetarian pho and they were both great! The steak broth was especially hearty. My only disappointed was the bathroom. For such classy place, I'd expect a little cleaner/nicer bathrooms. read more

Delicious food, wonderful ambience, friendly servers! My friend and I stopped here for dinner after several nights of German food - we needed a break. Plus, the outdoor seating was perfect on a warm, windy night. I got the spring rolls and the glass noodle salad with chicken, while she got a small bowl of pho and the red curry chicken. Everything was great! The spring rolls were tasty, the pho had a delicious broth, the glass noodle salad was light and refreshing, and the curry was very tasty (and it has sweet potatoes, which I never knew I needed in red curry but I do!). If there was a negative star I would give a negative star on the food quality and taste. Every single dish came out with an awful smell and flavor. Trust me, I'm a huge foodie who dines with at the best restaurants worldwide on daily basis. I complained to the waiter who was polite but said there was nothing that he can do about it, it was past 10:30pm in Berlin and didn't want to waste any time so I can actually leave and try to locate a decent place to have dinner at with my son. Straight up, some of the best Vietnamese food I've ever had. Beet salad was to die for with a sauce of crack-like addiction underneath. And then came the crispy duck in spicy red curry .... It was around that time I publicly humiliated myself by leaping onto the table, pouring the entire bowl of duck into my mouth, and moaning in bliss. I think Harry met Sally right at my table. The pho was good , but the spring roll lacked a lot of spring . Didn't taste that fresh. The pho has good flavors, but I wish there was some more limes or hoisin or sirracha I could of added. I wanted to pay my credit card, but immediately was told I will be charged at 20 dollars since the fees are high. Sort of a turn off i should of gotten an option like hey we charge cards at 20 if you wanted to order few more items to get it there we can do that . I ended up just paying cash for it. read more

Beautiful restaurant - very well-appointed interior, even in the bathrooms. The food was delicious, but not spicy enough for me. It was a Sunday night, and not busy. So when we decided to have another drink, my friend wanted a chair with a back rather than a stool. You don't get if you don't ask...so I asked (my friend is British, so would have never considered asking, as that would be rude - haha). He choose the dish with duck ( the one for 12,50€) he loved it. The duck was soft and crunchy - the rice was juice including the sauce an veggies. I choose similar one dish with rice, shrimps and veggies the other time rice, veggies and tofu. My dishes where fresh and tasty but nit shocking innovative (It was good and I went there especially because of my partner who was so happy about his dish). Nice atmosphere, clean place. Food was only just ok. Fancy but just not great. I started with a great spring roll and small wantan soup. Spring rolls were very good. The wantan soup was filled to the brim with veggies in a good soup and 3 wantans. My main was the duck with rice, great presentation and aroma. The side is avocado salad was heavy with fish sauce so it wasn't great to start with such a strong flavor, then I noticed the beautifully roasted and thinly sliced duck with skin had feathers in some of the skin. It just meant the duck wasn't properly cleaned and plucked before roasting. I just didn't feel that the quality of hygiene was there. The sauce for the duck was good but the skin with feathers was a disappointment. read more

Me and my and my family had just arrived in Berlin. We checked in at the hotel and there a woman recommended us some restaurants we should visit during our stay. After an hour of walking around the neighbourhood we settled for a vietmanese restaurant called Cao Cao. None of us had tried viatnemese food before so this was a new experience. The food and the drinks were very good and I settled for a banana shake and a dish with cooked lamb, some salad and noodles. The drink was okay but the but the dish with the lamb were absolutely superb. I also recommend the Cao Cao tea as I got to taste it from one of my family members. The service was good too and we did not experience any troubles during the payment or anything. Overall I give it a 5/5 for exellent food and good drinks and service. read more

This authentic and delicious Vietnamese restaurant in the center of Berlin is a fabulous find. It's reasonably priced and offered a varied menu, we enjoyed flavorful spring rolls followed by a fragrant soup. Portions were generous and service friendly if a bit hectic (understandable on a busy Saturday night). After you've had your fill of wurst and schnitzel elsewhere, try Cao Cao for a change. After a couple of days of eating schnitzel and brats, I decided to stop by this restaurant for something a little different. I have to say I was really impressed with the food. With the weather at near freezing, I decided to start with a bowl of their wanton soup which was very flavorful and I appreciated the vegetables that really complemented the soup. I followed the soup with the Vit Curry Do (H5 on the menu) which is a thinly sliced crispy baked duck served with rice in a spicy red curry. After looking this place up on Yelp, I was so excited to get some Pho Bo !We got there in the middle of a Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was not busy, there were about 6 people dining inside, and the staff was attentive. The restaurant looked good, almost brand new in fact, with many elements that were catching the eye and enticing the pallet. We order a bowl of Pho Bo and that's where things start to take a turn... 1. I ask the server for Extra white onions. Check 2. I saw that chili's (Spicy) we brought to the table, so Check there (no sriracha needed) 3. I asked for hoisin sauce (plum sauce) and she brought me soy sauce, then I made some clarifying statements and she brought me a peanut sauce... she said "it looks and smells like a peanut sauce, but it isn't one" LOL. It was clearly a peanut sauce! I then turned to my trusty I phone to see if I can look up the best example of what I need, the picture came up and the server was virtually clueless, like she hadn't even see this before, it was mind blowing! But whatever, we made the most of it by adding the great pickled garlic and chili that was table side, and doctored our own bowls to our liking. I would recommend this place because it looks nice inside, the menus are simple, the service was pretty solid, and the place was very clean, oh and also it was cold as bricks outside, so we had no choice but to stop and warm up! After landing in Cold Berlin, all I wanted was something warm. Saw Cao Cao, and realized Pho was calling my name. It was a very cozy place. I ordered fresh spring rolls and chicken pho. The spring roll was a very small portion and was served with a peanut/hoisin sauce. It was good, but definitely not worth the money. The pho was delicious, but nothing close to what you'd receive at an pho place on little Saigon in California. It's broth tasted like it was from a box (which I'm sure it is, but I'm not used to that), lemon grass, and ginger. If you're even in Berlin and a need a quick pho kick, this will do. read more
