I was very happy with my experience. They do a few things different (for the better) from most of the Mongolian grills I've been to, including other Hu Hot locations. The drinks are self-serve which speeds things up. They offered house sauces if you don't want to try to figure out which combination matches your tastes. They offer ice cream for dessert. You're given a card to flip on the table when you're finished, eliminating the risk of them accidentally cleaning your table and seating another guest before you've left. The pricing is fair. The food and service were excellent. read more

A solid OK. You can order appetizers but the main goal is to get in line, fill a bowl with your choice of meats, noodles, rice, veggies & pre-mixed sauces. Then hand it over to be grilled while you watch. Then, sit down & enjoy. And you can go back as many times as you want. Most of the meats are frozen. They do get cooked through but given the heat of the grill, I expected my concoction to be better seared with some tasty caramelization going on. Still, not bad for the price. Service was fast, there are plenty of places to sit. read more

We have eaten at huhot for years. It has gone down hill to the point of not returning. We made it our weekly meeting place. The person at the front were as unfriendly and acted like our being there was an inconvenience. They had very few people eating there. It was grubby, sticky , tables, floors and counters. At first i thot the grill cook was new or extremely tired. After watching her fix our food it appeared that she was under the influence of something?? Her food cleanliness was questionable as she played with her hat touching her hair as she cooked. She went to bathroom wearing her cook apron. Gross... They have soda and now 2 sweet tea options. When asked for hot tea bot weeks the response was eye rolling and turtle speed service. Even this is not full description of the pathetic service we received. The food was ok. read more

We were disappointed. Frozen food looked okay, but it was our first time eating here and I admit I didn't make a good combo. We will probably not go back. It was not as clean as it should have been. No one to tidy up around self serve ice cream. Big mess!! read more

Got here on a Wednesday for lunch. Black Sabbath was playing and it was pretty empty. You pick the items you want grilled: different kinds of noodles, rice, protein, veggies, sauces. Pretty tasty but my meal was cold by the time I got back to my table. Potstickers were good. read more

HuHot Mongolian Grill - Pad Thai - Mongolian Near Me - Billings, Montana

You get to create your own stir fry and it's cooked in front of you. For $19 you get to do this as many times as you want until you're full. Good: 1) lots of meats, veggies, and sauces to choose from. 2). It was an experience that you don't get in other restaurants 3). If you keep your stuff to a single bowl, you'll have enough appetite to try a 2nd or 3rd combo 4). It's fast Not so good: 1) some signs with suggested combos might make for a tastier plate of food 2). When you're faced with 30 sauce options, it's overwhelming to know how to combine them 3). The restaurant didn't look too clean read more

I hadn't seen a HuHut since my daughters were in college some 20 years ago, so I was excited. I always loved their food. Large help wanted sign should have been the hint. Food and service was as I remembered. But........ they were severely understaffed. Everything was out, or almost out. The staff scurried about trying their best to put out fires, but. If you go for dinner, go early. I was there at 7pm and it was sad. read more

It's a good place good good and cooks. Has a service problem it was maybe 20% full had cooks and other help walking around and a sign just stuck at the front counter saying 20minute wait? Waited around nobody seemed to even notice, Weird don't know what's going on used to look forward to this place. Don't plan on coming back. read more

The place is a mess. Bathroom was gross. Also include the drink to the dinner when you're charging $20.

I moved to Billings from West Tennessee in 2004. Shortly after moving to Billings, we discovered HuHot and we fell in love with this place. In 2006, I moved back home to West TN. Today, I returned to Billings for the first time since my last visit in 2009 and HuHot was 1st on my list. This place is mostly like I remember it. Still so many great protein and vegetable/fruit choices and there is a large sauce selection. I brought my sons this time and they'd heard all about how much I loved HuHot and I think they really enjoyed it too! Pretty straight forward restaurant. Enter the restaurant, stop at the desk and pay, then go fix your drink and bowls. The employees were very nice and the ice cream station is a plus! We will be back and I would recommend HuHot to anyone visiting Billings. I hope you enjoy as much as we did! read more

Great atmosphere, employees and food. You pick your size bowl and either fix it ala carte or pick a recipe from the marquis board to follow. Either way, you can't go wrong. The cooks take your bowl of concoction, word of advice, if you like meat, get the big bowl and load up on meat as it is flash frozen and sliced very thin so when being cooked. It will shrink to almost nothing. So pile on the meat, trust me. The cooks like to joke and show off their skill while working the grill, fun to watch. Then they put it back in your bowl when it is fully cooked. Goes great with some Sake. read more

The food was great and the staff is some of the nicest people I've ever met.and their ice cream does not have a right to be that good that's why it's 5 stars read more

I won't be back Overpriced and not able to take home a Togo box unless you want to pay 5.99 for the box.

Went on a Saturday night, place was busy, but had open tables and no line to get in. Got our food, which I do have to say was really good. The reason for two stars was the rude person who asked us to "not come back". There was two of us, and while we were eating we saw that some friends had come into eat and did not see us, so we decided to sit at the table next to them. Not knowing what to do with the plates on our existing table I went to the cashier/hostess and let them know that we were moving tables. I was chastised for moving tables, told it was not allowed, and asked never to come back if I felt I needed to move tables again. The young woman ridiculed me for not "knowing how much work" I caused by moving tables. I am certain I will eat here again, the food is good, and I am guessing the young woman was having a bad day, and that the service will be better the next time. Hopefully management will take the opportunity to see this review and offer some customer service training. read more

Good combo of vegetables and sauces. All you can eat. Clean and reasonable prices. Large meat selection with crab too. Many different noodles. Everything cooked hibachi style Service good read more

Pretty good Mongoluan BBQ for a place that has sliced, frozen meats. Lines move quickly, even when they're busy. Pluses: pre mixed sauces - if you want kung pao or teriyaki flavor, etc., they have those. None of that "two scoops of this and one scoop of that" recipe BS. Needs improvement: fresh cubed meats instead of sliced, frozen meats which tend to dry out and can be too big to eat in one piece. Although the cooking line moves quickly, it would be better if you could just drop off your bowls and go sit down and either your cooked dish is delivered to you, or there's a number system that alerts you when it's ready to pick up. read more

Accidentally stumbled across this place. Walked in having no idea what the meals even consisted of. Staff was really friendly and helpful. The concept of the restaurant was one we have never experienced and were very impressed. There were many options of meats, veggies, and sauces to choose from. Having that many options on a buffet style was incredible. The sauce area was messy but every other part of the restaurant was very clean. Only major downfall was we didn't know when to stop eating because it was so good!! read more

Wow, 8 years since my last update? You can eat as bad or as healthy as you'd like here... it's up to you! Great employees and you can't complain about the food since you're the one putting the meal together. Lunch is great however, sometimes the machine charges you for Weekend/Holiday pricing which is $2 more per person and the employees can't do anything about it which happened to me again today for the 2nd or 3rd time. It's still great though! read more

Exactly what you'd expect from a Mongolian grill! I got the unlimited bowls deal and devoured 5 of them. The meat selection was pretty good and the sauce selection was excellent. Good choices for noodles and veggies as well. If you want Mongolian, you won't be disappointed. read more

My wife and I like going to this place. You can create your own stir fry and I usually pick a minimal amount of meat but load up on vegetables and noodles. They have a lot of sauces to choose from but I usually douse mine with a lot of the spicy sauces and mix in some of the garlic and oyster sauces. Good place, good food and good price. read more

I wish I could give this place a better review. We arrived around 1:30 pm. The girl at the front desk was cordial. It was not busy at all. We started to go through the line - no beef, very little chicken or pork. The onion and green pepper containers were full, but they looked like they had been frozen and looked slimy and milky. Some of the sauces were out. Needless to say - it was not the experience we expected from HuHot. I hope I can post a better review at a later date. read more

Honestly, I love this place. Especially during the Holiday season, when everything else is crazy busy with shoppers and visitors, HuHot is hidden away and you can always grab a quick bite with no hassle. Beyond convenience, I'm a huge fan of the build-your-own idea. Load it up with whatever you want, and come back for more if you aren't too full from round 1, and all at a great price. read more

Huhot is great for a lunch quickie ($7.99 from 11-4 pm). I usually go for lunch, as dinner is 12.99 and I am a poor college student. A Mongolian Grill-type restaurant, you are seated, give your drink order to the waitress, and then you're off on a quest to make what you hope to be a good noodle dish. Easy! Suggestions: 1) Use the recipe cards (The "Curry up already" is my favorite!). It helps you get the flavoring you want in your dish. From those, I learned that I was not putting nearly enough sauce so I usually ended up with a bland dish and rarely was a returning customer. 2) If you're like me and are nutrition-conscious, while you order your drink, request for brown rice instead of white. As for your noodle dish, use their wheat-based yakisoba noodles. 3) Grab two bowls. One to put your noodles and meat; the other to put your vegetables and sauces in. 4) Enjoy your food! Since they are an "all-you-can-eat," you cannot bring any leftovers home. Trust me, I tried cheating the system. Service was great, although it can get pretty crazy during lunch, so I can see where the waiters/waitresses might slip-up. read more

HuHot Mongolian Grill - The "Hot Lunch" Recipe - Mongolian Near Me - Billings, Montana

First of all, the guys cooking the stirfry are always awesome and that's why this gets 4 stars. That, and the sauces are wonderful. The freshness of the food has always been a little iffy, but this last time I was there, it was all good. Minus one star for two things: the rice is disgusting (must be instant or something) and the service is weird. The waitresses all seem like they are too busy to help, but the restaurant isn't busy at all. Appetizers and dessert are average. read more

HuHot Mongolian Grill - Dry, flaky rice - Mongolian Near Me - Billings, Montana

I told someone I was going to Billings and the first thing they said was "You should eat at HuHot!" After some explaining of exactly what HuHot was I eager to swing by here and grab a meal. Its a Mongolian Grill... Grab a whole bunch of raw food, pour a variety of random oils/seasonings together and give it to some guy to cook on a circular hot flat grill. Its 12 bucks, which seems more expensive than other Mongolian places I've eaten at in bigger cities, but what the hey. The all you can eat meals were supplemented with your choice of optional salads. There was a house and an Asian themed salad. I had the Asian one, it had a vinaigrette and ramen noodles on top. The selection of frozen items to get grilled were fairly average. There's beef, pork, chicken, imitation crab, sausage, and a frozen seafood medially. There's wheat and regular noodles along with every veggie under the sun to throw on. There's probably 40 or so oils and liquid seasonings to throw together to flavor your dish. They recommend at least 5 ladles of seasoning but no more than one of oil. If you're lost at what you should combine, there's cards with flavor profiles directing you to spoon together a few specific flavors for a certain type of dish. I was a little put off at how messy the flavor station was, they should have a guy wipe it down every 15 mins or so. Service was good, its mostly do it yourself but you have a waiter to take your salad and drink orders. They kept our drinks filled and had brewed iced tea so I was fine with that whole part of the dining experience. We order desserts which were pretty good. It was ice cream and cream filled ragoons. Overall, it was a unique dining experience that you don't find many places. If you're not scared of making your own dishes this is your joint. If you don't want to put in alot of work and have your food served to you... this is not your place. But as the first place I was directed to eat at in Billings, it did not disappoint. read more

Also you can choose toppings like peanuts, sunflower seeds etc) . Oh yes, you can also have noodles or rice ! Servers are friendly and the atmospheres is nice. A friend brought me here for the first time, and to be honest, I was a bit confused on how to order. You go through and pick your meats, veggies, greens, noodles.....whatever you want them to stir fry for you. There are recipes on their website also, and I took advantage of that the night before. A set dollar amount for lunch and dinner. Whatever you can fit in your two bowls. Plenty to eat and I'm glad I looked at the recipes the night before, especially to make sure I would like the sauces, because there are alot of them. Service was great. My tea glass was never empty. The floors were sticky, as were the counter tips and table tops. Overall a good experience and I'll go back. read more

Got our Mongolian fix! Staff was really friendly! Hope to bring our whole family next time! Only deal breaker is that a panhandler was roaming around asking for money from multiple customers and had to nerve to come sit down while I was eating. Can you complain about the food, when you pile the ingredients into a bowl and cross your fingers in the hope that it's good? Do I have only myself to blame? I guess I'd just prefer a menu with time tested recipes. read more

Ew. It's very dirty inside. The sauce table is a mess and my husband used the word "rancid" to describe a piece of meat he had just eaten from his dish. I will never go back. It's also expensive for a small bowl of noodles and canned items that they leave to burn on the grill because they do not mix and stir it around. They set it on the grill and stand and wait to flip it like a burger at McDonald's. Our veggies were still cold when we got our bowls back. read more

The food, unfortunately is below average. I was most disappointed by how terrible the rice is: how you can make rice both mushy and crunchy is a mystery to me. The service was average. Our waitress was busy and didn't get back to us for refills (never offered). The highlight of the trip was at the grill. The cooks had so,e fancy spatula flipping. Any they were efficient. There are so many better opportunities in Billings for better food with better service at the same prices. read more
