Enjoyed the cocktails and prawn pizza. Memorable atmosphere.

Hugo's has been a regular go-to when in Manly and not aiming for any particular restaurant. The location is killer, they can always find a space for you, albeit often with a small wait, the service efficient and friendly and meals not overly expensive. On our last visit a few of those things were missing. The service was ok but distant and a little aloof, way too rushed one minute with four people working on our table for three at once but then we couldn't find anyone to order more drinks from the next. The final straw was that it's now expensive for what you get. Pizzas are $30 and mains are pretty much all close to $40 each and whilst they are all nice enough, they are not good value. Hugo's has been good to us over the years so we'll likely give it another go but it will be with a sense of trepidation. If it's the same again then it may end up being our last meal at Hugo's. read more

This was our second visit to Hugo's manly first one was 3 years ago before we had kids so it was way overdue. Went with my husband for lunch we sat over the water it was such a nice sunny day. The waiter was fine couldn't make any complaints but nothing special about the service however the food we couldn't fault at all everything was as good as we remembered when we first visited . Had the croquettes and calamari with chilli and sea salt for appetisers they were yum and good portion sizes. For Mains I had the crab lobster which was delicious And my husband had the prawn pizza. No deserts as we were so full. Wonderful and special lunch will definitely return again. read more

Whether you're actually trekking out to Manly, or just taking a ferry ride from Circular Quay to see the harbor, Hugo's is a really convenient place to grab a bite to eat on the water since it's attached to the Manly ferry dock. As a former New Yorker, I have to mildly hate on its pizza, but it's probably better than I want it to be! This place hasn't won Best Pizza awards for no good reason! The margherita pizza was spot on. It had a delicious cube of fresh mozzarella that they place after the pizza is pulled from the oven, along with fresh basil. You cannot beat the harbour view from this enjoyable spot in Manly. Looking forward to my next visit. read more

This restaurant is proof positive of the golden rule of restaurants ... location location location. On the wharf with views of the manly ferries coming and going. Also good for people watching. The food on the other hand is only ok. Good innovative sounding pizzas but the execution was only good not great. read more

Really good food that approaches 5 stars. The service was mediocre at best. God help you if you have to sit on the ledge benches with the sun going down, unless you enjoy getting one side of your face burned and then blinded by the sun. read more

Ducked in to the bar for a quick drink and dinner before the ferry. The staff was super friendly and prompt. The oysters natural were great and the yellowtail crostini satisfied my hunger. Great experience! read more

Had lunch here with my girlfriend and we both shared the garlic pizza (added mushroons) and the spaghetti with crab meat. Both were very good. But the spaghetti was very pricey ($38). The pizza is what this place is known for and its delicious. Pretty thin dough and crispy crust. Delicious. The pasta was not bad too but a tad bit too salty. Good amount of crab meat though. But you can't beat the view. Very nice setting. read more

I've been to Hugo's for lunch and dinner and the food was great each time. The first time I went was with a family that had two young kids and the staff gave us colouring in stuff for the kids to play with and were super attentive. I've also been with my grandma and she loved how polite and friendly the service was, not to mention the amazing view you get from the outside seating area right on the wharf over looking the manly ferry. read more

6 of us had fantastic wine and pizza at Hugos. I have been trying to find my own supplies of the delicious Syrah ever since! We ordered the calamari and prawns for entree along with polenta chips (the best I have ever had, if you order nothing else, order these) and a side of veges. The ravioli that came with the prawns were a delicious surprise. We shared 4 pizzas between the 6 of us which was loads. I highly recommend the fig pizza just for interest factor. Frankly we just loved them all, I don't usually bother with pork but the pork pizza was delicious. Service was quick and friendly. We left very happy indeed. read more

It's a beautiful restaurant with a great location on the wharf, but outside of that I wasn't impressed. We shared a glass of pinot noir and a cheese plate and the total was $50.... The food and wine were OK but nothing to warrant that price tag! The pizzas around us looked good so maybe I would suggest one of those, or to just acknowledge that you are having a very expensive snack! read more

Hugo's Manly is more like a distant cousin to the original Hugo's Lounge in Kings Cross than a brother or sister. What they have is common is a cool setting, great pizza and fantastic cocktails. What they don't have in common is too cool for school people, a long line out the front and general OTT attitude. This is what makes Hugo's Manly clearly the favorite. Set on the Wharf at Manly the location is hard to beat especially at sunset in summer as the Manly Ferry pulls up right next to the bar. This place is always packed on a Thursday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday but never uncomfortably so. The people are beautiful but also a lot of fun. If you can snare a table on the fringe of the bar then you've struck gold. All the pizzas here are excellent but my pick is the Italian Meatballs ($24- yeah not cheap!). read more

Today Hugo's hosted our group of 250 people from the U.S.. They went above and beyond with everything. The wait staff was fantastic and super attentive. The restaurant manager was extra courteous and wanted to make sure we enjoyed our visit. The food was absolutely amazing, by far our favourite meal we have had in Sydney all week. I can't say enough on how much we enjoyed the service and the food. Made for such an awesome day in Manley!! I highly recommend this place as a must for anyone. read more

Great location for a drink before getting on ferry or after getting off ferry. I had an espresso martini recommended by my friend who took me here. She wasn't impressed by it. I thought it was a smooth cocktail with a nice amount of espresso. Not my favorite drink but def didn't hate it. She said the mixing wasn't right and it should've been incorporated better. Oh well. They were very busy with the Friday evening crowds. read more

What a phenomenal dining experience. Hugo's is located on the manly bay wharf and the view overlooking the water is gorgeous. I was able to sit right off the walkway with the water right out in front and plenty of people watching. Their drink menu is excellent with an assortment of signature cocktails and an plentiful wine list. I ordered both the angel hair pasta with seared tuna, Parmesan and garlic and the chorizo pizza due to indecision. Incredible! Excellent portion sizes and both were so delicious. read more

This place is in the perfect spot on Manly Wharf. Get off the ferry and there it is. A fantastic view over the water. I had a pizza, they're famous for them apparently , and it was almost perfect , crisp thin base, not drowning in sauce or toppings. A little pricey for a pizza, $28 but I guess you pay off the location . Wine list is decent but again on the pricey side. Cocktails were a good size, $18 about par for a place like this. A nice place for a sunny brunch or lunch but the price means it's more a occasional than regular hangout. read more

This restaurant is awesome! Right off of the manly wharf, it's super convenient. The food was amazing we got heaps of appetizers & shared everything- I was stuffed. Ellen degeneres has even eaten here. I'm staying in Sydney so it was nice after spending a day shopping in manly to have the conscience of Hugo's before heading back on the ferry to circular key. 10/10 recommend! read more

Location on Manly Wharf is a winner with water views all round. Lounge, bar and restaurant seating provide three modes of enjoyment. Staff are efficient and helpful. Did I say they all could have graced the pages of GQ or Vogue? We met for drinks in the lounge followed by lunch in the restaurant. Food and conversation were only interrupted every 30 min with Manly ferry blowing its horn upon departure. Worth the ferry ride from the CBD. I will do again! read more

Nature provides a beautiful setting for this restaurant. Good food and friendly staff. Seating options very for couples of two!! We arrived at 5:30 for dinner seating with a reservation at which time the restaurant was 90% empty. We where given a choice of 3 bench window seats. They refused to allow us to sit at a proper table. We took what was offered and witnessed the same service to other arriving couples. Some couples chose to leave the restaurant due to the restricted seating options offered to them. Interesting the restaurant remained 70 % empty when we left the restaurant 90 minutes later. I give this restaurant a 3 star for customer service by the host. read more

If you're lucky enough to get a waterside table on a sunny day, this is paradise! We had the best table, and we dined on a delicious barramundi lunch, two bottles of rosé, and a whole lot of sunshine. Our blonde waitress was very friendly, and we didn't want to leave. Highly recommended. read more

Loved this restaurant with really attentive staff. The food was beautifully prepared and presented despite the fact that it was extremely busy. Sitting outside under the umbrellas was lovely watching the ferries roll in was a a lovely experience. Can't say enough about the kingfish carpaccio - wow! And the pizzas were crispy and full of flavour. A storm blew in and we had prompt extra umbrellas and rugs. Thank you to the young waiter with the blonde hair who looked after us so attentively right through the storm. read more

The view and setting are great, but ...pizzas? Just bad - other than round there is nothing in common for the connoisseur. Go there for everything else, but not pizza. read more
