Total throwback and a place that just makes you happy. Went for a later supper and great to find easy parking in the back and though we made a reses there was plenty of seating available so no problem. Started off with the Hugo's fresh green tea served in a French Press and it was perfect for a cold December night and then had went for a taste of nostalgia with the turkey meatloaf dinner. Couple of thick cuts of meatloaf served with a side of mashed potatoes and steamed veggies and subtle mushroom gravy to make it a real party. Well seasoned and went down easy, but just enough to not want to have any dessert which I was hoping for but have to do it next time. Great service and very quick from seating to paying the bill. I always love stopping in at Hugo's! They have the absolute best happy hour -- drinks as low as $4 and cheap yet delicious eats, too! You can get a full meal and a cocktail or glass of wine for under $20. I especially like the gluten-free chicken tenders and the spring rolls from the happy hour menu, and their (non-alcoholic) strawberry lemonade is to die for. Hugo's in West Hollywood has been around for a very long time. And one thing is consistent with this restaurant; really good food with quality ingredients. I've not been here since before the pandemic, and Hugo's is still providing great meals to large crowds. I'm here this morning with nine other friends on a Saturday late morning. The place is busy, but they were able to accommodate us in under five minutes. Talk about great timing. We were promptly seated and offered menus and water. Myself, along with a friend, each ordered the Protein Scramble. See picture of menu for descriptions. The portions were large and arrived very hot. Perfect. We both enjoyed our breakfast. The breakfast potatoes were crispy and delicious. I had toast with my scramble and my friend paid $3 extra for a single Pumpkin Pancake. Another friend next to me had the Scrambled Egg Sandwich with fries. He said it was okay and didn't really elaborate why it was just "okay." It looked good, but missing some type of protein; perhaps bacon. Another friend had the Pasta Papa. A large portion of food and he said it tasted great and fresh. It was so much food that he took the remainder to go. Other meals at the table were a hamburger, two breakfast burritos, and a Create-Your-Own-Scramble. We really enjoyed ourselves here! Came around 12 pm on a Saturday and it was pretty full! We got the last table on the patio (which is dog friendly btw) and I think the inside had a bit of a wait. Our server Matt was super nice and prompt. The menu is super friendly for vegans, vegetarians, and gluten intolerant folks. Like so many options. I got a vegan Reuben with their homemade gluten free rye bread and house made vegan salami. It was really good!! but it was $22...my partner's vegan breakfast sandwich was good but he said it was def not the best he has had and it was pricier than most. We took my Mom there for brunch and the food, service, and drinks were A plus!! We had Eskadare as our server and she was so wonderfully pleasant, attentive, and very kind. Always had a smile on her face and always made sure we were good and had everything we needed. My husband got the turkey hash that had kale in it and it was so flavorful. I love Hugo's! I came alone this time because I was working nearby and their happy hour is literally the best!!!! They have happy hour everyday from 4pm-7pm! I usually get the chicken strips with fries but today I got the nachos with chicken and I enjoyed them sooo much! I also got the Strawberry Cucumber Cooler and I loved it! My first time at Hugo's in valley village The staff that we got was super attentive and helpful when it came to us asking for different things or helping us make some food choices. We had a group of 12 and was sat in the patio. Food Order: My horchata latte was so refreshing love it The chocolate chip pancakes were my favorite so fluffy and with just the right amount of sweetness! The chilaquiles were ok, for me not too much flavor I had to add a good amount of hot sauce to add a little taste. Bathrooms were pretty clean. I love everything about it: location (on a busy corner in Hollywood), longevity (yeah, it's OG vintage 1980), the bright, cozy, warm, fresh interior, the incredible menu (especially for a vegetarian like me), and the quality and uniqueness of every dish. I think my photos will speak for themselves. The service was top notch and friendly, the music atmosphere was somehow upbeat and calming at the same time, everything was spotless and it was the kind of place where you can let yourself breathe and relax. Even with the space being as bustling as the boulevard, our server was a sun kissed, young woman, with braids & big brown eyes. She was level headed, courteous, polite and professional. She kept her cool in the midday heat lunch rush and the food was just as phenomenal as the service. . I had a great meal today with my wife and daughter...I had lunch, they had breakfast. Our waitress had a great personality and was quite cheerful and spunky. This really adds to the experience. My meal was very good and the portion was perfect size: a pesto sandwich with fries. I enjoyed it greatly! The coffee was also really good and much bett than Starbucks. Woo happy hour. For us poor people who eat dinner early. Gonna work my way down the menu. Hugo's has a bunch of vegan gluten free foofoo stuff because it's in WeHo naturally so lots of soy and estrogen flying around here. Not a fan of nachos so I tried the vegan pakoras. Also not a fan of turkey either, it's the grossest meat to me, so skipped the chili and got chicken strips since that's the only other real meat option, with honey mustard. Pakora: tastes healthy and unhealthy at once but nice and crispy. Not much spice or flavor so use the sauce. Chicken strips: also crispy with plenty of chicken and doesn't have the odd gluten free flavor. Comes with fries. This is a full meal. Good ambiance, sat outside at the back corner so got the most people watching in with the least interaction and noise. Perfect. The drinks and appetizers specials were nice. And price wise was quite reasonable. The drink special were great and quite worth it. Both the old fashion and mojitos were great. Service was excellent, the gentleman that took care of us was quite friendly and very attentive. Checking up to make sure if everything was great and if we ever needed anything. The springs rolls was bad which the peanut sauce. As well as the pasta, forgot the name but it was great. The flavor was excellent as well as the salmon picatta.
