When I needed various items of outdoor power equipment to manage a 10-acre property, I looked…read morearound for trustworthy dealers. I quickly found that almost all of the dealers in the Houston area had terrible reviews on Yelp and elsewhere. Pentex Equipment was the only exception. In fact, it was the only one that, based on the reviews, wouldn't be terrifying to enter unless you really knew what you're doing (I didn't at the time...). Of course reviews, valuable as they are, are not infallible, so I was still cautious walking into Pentex for the first time to get advice as to what equipment would be most appropriate for my needs. I was helped by a guy named Chad, who was remarkably knowledgeable while simultaneously coming across as very humble and trustworthy. After getting a thorough education from Chad, and absolutely no sales pressure, I eventually decided to go with ALL of his suggestions, which amounted to no small amount of money. To my surprise, Chad offered to deliver all of this gear to my house and show me how to use it for no extra charge. True to his word, he gave me a thorough education at my property and almost every piece of advice proved to be extremely valuable. Chad was so knowledgeable and so helpful that eventually I got suspicious that he was no mere sales guy. So I asked him, "Are you by any chance a part-owner of the business?" Sure enough, Chad replied that he and his wife are the sole owners of the business. Chad does much of the sales work while his wife handles much of the accounting. Since then, I've been back to Pentex many times for routine maintenance and for additional equipment purchases. Chad and his team at Pentex have always been 100% helpful and their advice has always been spot-on. They do what they say, on the timetable they promise, and the charges are always reasonable. It has been a pleasure doing business with Pentex and I look forward to being a customer for at least as long as Chad continues to own the business (he's a pretty young guy so that should be for a long time to come). I suggest that you might want to do the same.

So, when a tree fell during the hurricane and ruined my existing grill, I was at quite a loss. I do have a gas range inside, but without power, my gas oven will not work. Plus, I like to use my grill for an oven, too. The week after Beryl moved through here, I went to Cunningham to get a replacement grill. Because they keep such great records, they knew exactly which grill I had installed just 2 years ago, and I'm so thankful they had a new one in stock. And, believe it or not, they came out and installed it that afternoon! Now I could really cook! And cook I do on that grill, which is a big made-in-the-USA model. I came in a week ago to simply get a copy of my car key cut to the new remote, which I had just bought elsewhere. The guy who cut the key charged me $50 for the new car key. I paid it and walked to my car to try it, but it didn't work to turn the ignition. I went back inside to tell him and he came out to try it himself, but it still did not work. He went back in to "re-cut" it, tried it again, and again after that, but it never did work. He told me that he would just put my old working key on my new remote and get me on my way. He did that AND KEPT THE FAULTY KEY. I asked for a refund for the key that he cut, which didn't work, and therefore could not be used, SO HE KEPT IT. He told me that he wasn't authorized to give refunds, but that I could come back any other day and that the manager would be able to help me with that. So I came in today, with my 2-month-old daughter in hand, for what I thought would be a quick and easy refund exchange, but instead was met with the MOST hassle that I have ever had to deal with from ANY business in order to get my money back. I walked in and explained my situation to the owner/manager and he straight up told me, "No, you don't get a refund for that. He went through the trouble to cut the key for you, didn't he?" I explained again that the key, which is what I paid for, didn't work, and ultimately WAS NOT GIVEN TO ME, so I would like my money back for that. He had the audacity to deny my refund, claiming that they did me a favor by swapping MY old key into MY remote. As if that's what I paid $50 for! He called the guy who originally cut the key and asked him about it. I'm not sure what the guy told him over the phone, but the owner laughed and said "No, I'm not doing that. I'll take care of it" Then he walked me outside and tried to tell me how I wouldn't be getting a refund for the key because the guy did me a favor by swapping my old key into my remote! I told him that I did not ask him to do that, nor is that what I paid $50 for, and THEY kept the faulty key! He told me it was still time spent and at best he could give me "half of my money back". HALF! As if that is an acceptable resolution for selling me defective product that I never received. I told him, no, that I wanted my full refund for the key I paid for that didn't work and I never received. I told him all the guy did for me was swap MY original key onto MY new remote, which I could've done myself. To that he said "Well, why didn't you?" I told him because he offered and didn't say anything about charging me, because if he had, I would've told him no. He told me "Half. Take it or leave it." I told him that I'm not leaving without my money back, and to that he told me, "Well, how about, just to get your ass outta here, I just take the key off, give you your money back, and you can put it on yourself!" I immediately told him to do it because I'm not paying $25 for anything that I can easily do myself and IS NOT what I was charged for in the first place. This whole exchange took place outside, in the cold, for about 30 minutes, while I was holding my two-month-old daughter in my arms, wrapped in a blanket, and this unprofessional, rude, and heartless manager couldn't care less about her wellbeing or helping me resolve the situation, when HIS BUSINESS was holding onto money I was charged for faulty merchandise that was ultimately not even given to me. I honestly can't believe that a business can operate with such blatant disregard for its customers, but I truly hope that this establishment doesn't last much longer, so they can't continue to scam, intimidate, or mistreat other people in the surrounding community. This place is a disgrace!
