I drove by this place in the evening coming back from winetasting and thought it would be a good place to have breakfast the next morning. I'm glad I did. The staff is super sweet and the place is really cute. The food was excellent. I had the green and pesto Chilaquiles. They were both very good. The eggs are organic with a nice orange yolk. The steak was also very good as well as the beans which are obviously made with the traditional way of using lard. The coffee was nice and strong, and the orange juice was lacking in flavor as well as the fruit. I look forward to coming back to this place again.

We were staying at the hotel and we didn't want to drive offsite so this was very convenient. It was outdoor so it was a little cold but they put a heating lamp near us. Which made it comfortable. I got the Arrachera steak and eggs and it was delicious. The steak was perfectly seasoned and grilled. It tasted delicious with the mesquite smoke. I would recommend this. The service was pretty good, they don't speak much English though, so hopefully you have a Spanish speaking friend or use Google translate.

The negative reviews are accurate regarding service. Service is bad. Not terrible; our first waiter was friendly so I don't want to take that away from him. The food was good, not great unique or memorable, but good. Value for price was decent. It took a while for the hostess to show up from wherever she was, but eventually they sat us quickly as it wasn't packed. It took them long to take our drink order and it was 30 min before my coffee finally came out. I had to ask for my wife's drink a little while later because they forgot. When we asked about it they said they ran out of orange juice and couldn't make it (but apparently forgot to tell us). About an hour in, we noticed another table of two that had arrived later, already had their food. We ended up asking another waitress about our food and she begrudgingly said she would check on it. A short while later she brought out our food and a little bit of an attitude as well. The food was brought out in parts but ultimately we got our food after asking for it. The food was good.

First time and what a lovely experience. Food was just on time. Flavor was to what was expected. But what a hot day! And why not have a refreshing pineapple drink. Cheers Do come and enjoy un par de huevos

This place got a lot of hype online so we decided to visit on our last day in the valley. We ordered the chilaquiles. They weren't the best I've had but it was still good food. We also ordered cafe de olla and fresh squeezed orange juice and we never received it. Food was just ok and does the job. Fair warning, if you eat in the patio be prepared to be surrounded by a hoard of flies that never go away. It kind of made the experience uncomfortable.

Over an hour and a half and still no food, nor waiter with an update.

After going up to a waiter and letting them know we were leaving because we were tired of waiting for our food-we finally got our food after an 1 hour and 45 mins, my food was cold, my plate was dirty with smeared egg yolk underneath my chilaquiles. We asked for 5 waters and 1 coffee, only 3 waters showed up, asked 3 times for the extra 2 waters and coffee, i ended up canceling my coffee and walked to the bar to ask for a Coke since i had asked 15 mins earlier. Spoke to the manager and she said they were short staffed, it wasn't busy, can't imagine if they were busy how crazy it would be. If you're short staffed then let your customers know beforehand that it'll be that much of a wait, let them decide if they are willing to wait or not. The wait was not including the 20 mins we waited to be seated. We literally got up to talk to several waiters about our drinks, our silverware, condiments, because no one seemed to care.

[So mind the wet weather when considering "when" to go, and if the vehicle you're in can handle the potholes a foot (or more) deep.] THE SETUP We followed staff down rustic stone and wooden steps, past several different covered alcoves - almost Tiki in vibe - until we came to the cantina we all were invited into. Their partner-business Ochentos shared their pizzas with us while we sampled the brewery's beers. The varietals were tasty from their pale ale to their brown. The environment was exquisite with it's rustic norms, including the prima dona felines that made their presence known and purported ownership over the grounds we were proceeding. THE LOWDOWN A very fun trek to explore an out of the way brewery and some pretty tasty pizza. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/el-chivo-gru%C3%B1%C3%B3n-villa-de-ju%C3%A1rez?select=nQaP-BTNQeK0t4svUmAkxQ&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w

It's an outdoor wooden shack, no doors. we noticed it because there was a sign that said "beer" and we saw lots of people there. our host at the B&B told us we must try it before we leave, so we did. as soon as we sat down at the bar, a big tall gentleman came to greet us. he spoke perfect english and made some awesome recommendations. BF had a couple of beers (cant remember what they were, but i believe it was local), and because i wasn't planning on drinking more (we just got done with a small winery tasting tour), but Chris recommended i try the cocktiel de guayaba, its a bourbon cocktail with guava! It was only 40 pesos and if the owner recommends me.....why would i refuse? we were super hungry so we wanted something light and Chris recommended the pulpo ceviche (100 pesos). My drink was ridiculously tasty as i am a huge guava fan and the bourbon balances the sweetness of the guava with the liquor. the pulpo (octopus) ceviche was wonderful and delicious with just the right portion and served with thin tortilla chips. Chris was so kind and chatted with us almost the entire time we were there. i HIGHLY recommend stopping by here for a quick drink and light bite even if you are here to explore the wines in this wine country. my only mistake was that we came here after having drank so much already from visiting all the wineries!

Perched on a cliff above the Pacific with nothing but open ocean in front of you, this is honestly one of the most iconic spots in all of Valle and I will die on that hill (pun very much intended). Getting there is part of the experience. You park at the bottom, hop on a shuttle, and ride up a winding dirt road to the bar. The drivers are so fun and honestly the whole shuttle vibe is its own thing. People are dancing, singing, already in a great mood before they even arrive. Instant friends every time. Once you're up top, the drinks are flowing and the sunset views are absolutely unreal. I haven't done a full meal here but the chips alone deserve their own Yelp page. Homemade, crunchy, covered in cheese. I could have just eaten those and been completely happy. Oh and one more thing, and I'm being completely serious: please go to the bathroom. Even if you don't need to. Especially if you don't need to. The views from the restroom might be better than some restaurants I've paid full price to eat at. Bar Bura is one of those places I'll keep coming back to no matter how many times I've been. If you haven't gone yet, fix that immediately.

THE BLACK AND WHITE: The wife and I had a reservation for 6pm at Cuatro Cuatros. The complex has a bar up at the top of the mountain along with airbnbs and a winery at the bottom. We parked our car and was escorted through a plank full of grape vines before getting on a shuttle up the mountain. Before we hopped on the bus, we got to choose a beverage of choice to go up the mountain. I got the modelito (small modelo). The shuttle ride is pretty steep and bumpy so I understand why they have a trained driver to drive. When we got to the top - wow wow wow. Beautiful views of Salsipuedes Bay. We had to walk along the side of the restaurant to get in. For food we got a oaxacan cheese taco, fish and chips with the catch of the day, and a crepe for dessert. For drinks we got a carajillo and a non alcoholic beverage. Everything was great however my favorite bite was the freshly fried fish and chips. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall, we spent around 1800 MXN and had a great time. Beautiful views with good food. Definitely worth checking out once.

I told myself if I'm ever in the area again, I have to make an effort to eat at this place. Well, the opportunity arose as I was staying at a nearby winery. The biggest problem I encountered was finding a ride to get to this restaurant. Taxis are nonexistent in the area. Ubers are only in the area when someone from Ensenada requests a round trip to the area, so no they are not available to others. Therefore, I expressed my frustration with the front desk at my winery hotel and they took on the task of finding me private transportation. About 40 minutes later, they called my room to inform me that they located a driver. Unfortunately, he requested an inflated price for the to and from the restaurant. Private drivers down here know that you have few choices, therefore, they can ask inflated prices. Yes, I was in a pickle, but I really wanted to go. I did not rent a car because many of the roads hug cliffs and everyone drives fast, because they know where all of the mountain curves are. Being from Chicago, where we also drive fast but don't have mountain cliff roads decided to play it safe and let others do the driving for me. Anyhow, I debated, and in the end agreed to the expensive terms because when I going to get the opportunity again to eat at a place rated best breakfast in the world? How was the breakfast? It was absolutely delicious, everything was made from scratch. I ordered the cafe de la olla which interprets into coffee from the pot because typically it is prepared with raw sugar (piloncillo), canella (cinnamon sticks), and orange zest. How was the coffee? Delicious. I had some machaca (small bits of dried beef) with eggs which came with delicious refried beans. I also ordered the excellent chilaquiles with an egg and a side of bacon. I also needed to order the one thing most talk about on their menu which is the corn bread pancakes. They used the recipe for a typical corn bread sold down here called pan de elote to make the pancakes, and yes, they were excellent. Turning the batter from this recipe into pancakes was a brilliant idea. Also, I cannot leave out the great tasting freshly made corn tortillas that came with the food. The tortillas down here taste different from the ones back in Chicago because down here a white heirloom corn is utilized rather than the sweet yellow dent corn from the Midwest. Was it the best breakfast that I have ever had in Mexico, or anywhere else for that matter? Well, it definitely lived up to the hype the breakfast was amazing and I do highly recommend it. If you do decide to visit, my best advice is show up early because a line forms very early. I have been lucky to have also had other amazing breakfasts in Mexico and other places in my travels. The secret to this restaurant sits right behind it. On the restaurant grounds is an active ranch, which also doubles as a small zoo, where they source their milk and meats from. Yes, they raise their own animals which later become items on the menu. Does that fresh matter? Yes, it absolutely does make all of the difference. Does it sound cruel? Well, that is a whole other conversation. Let's just say the animals are treated humanely. All of the livestock looked happy as they roamed around the grounds. Unlike the way livestock is treated inhumanly in the United States in dirty overcrowded housing where some never get to see the sun or roam freely in the open air. Livestock in the US are constantly given antibiotics and growth hormones, also fed gmo feed with questionable health implications for those that consume them.
