Many thanks to the brave and caring essential workers at Hudson valley hospice for their care of my father before he passed.
Overall, our experience with them was good as they worked patiently with my parents (my mother was the only hands-on caretaker) to help them understand what they could offer and how hospice care works. As with most hospice services, they handle a lot of the paperwork, ordering of equipment, and basically have someone ready to answer questions / help 24/7, which was a relief to my mother. The staff we worked with were patient with explaining things and also cautious given the current pandemic situation, always donning their PPE and being mindful of my parents' requests given my dad was a high risk patient with severe lung issues. Most of all, we'd like to thank the nurse who came to see my father in his final hour -- she came for a routine check, felt it looked like it was time based on all the signs he presented, and stayed past her visit until he passed shortly after his appointment time slot, comforting my mother and helping her find a funeral home to work with in the hours after. She was very caring and really soothed my mother at an incredibly tragic time for her. Altogether, great experience and really helped my mother with caretaking towards my dad's final days. read more
