She was not only incapable of doing any physical therapy, but was unable to feed herself or lift a cup of water to her mouth. We went to see her and her lips were dry and chapped so we brought the water straw to her mouth so she could drink. Her eyes stayed closed and she moaned and cried the entire time we were there. I tried to ask her questions but she couldn't answer us. She was like this for days. They eventually sent her back to the hospital where she awoke several hours later with no recollection of what had happened. I feel sorry for the patients that have no one to advocate for them.

I am eternally grateful for their professionalism and care they took of my mother who was there for just over two years. As an EMT I Have been to many nursing homes from the very best to the very worst, and in my experience, the Poughkeepsie Pines Is right at the top of that List. Whenever there was an issue with my mother, they immediately called me, Whether it was her needing A shot or vaccine or she slipped out of her wheelchair. I immediately got a call. My mother was not always the easiest person to work with, but somehow they Gained her trust and truly cared for her. I would visit my mom pretty much weekly and often bring my puppies that she absolutely adored, there would be times that I would arrive and she would complain of a cough or an issue and of course I would go right down to the nurses station to See if they were going to do something about it and to my amazement, they always knew about the problem or complaint and had already started taking action before I could say anything. They would have a quarterly meeting to review patients statuses, Nurse, physical therapist, social service, Nutritionist, sometimes as much as 5 to 6 people on the phone As They would include me in their conference call to Review my mother's status. They We're on top of her daily needs and long-term needs as we were all able to work together to keep my mother happy and comfortable. Again, I want to thank all the employees at the Poughkeepsie Pines for everything they did to keep my mother happy and safe. Mark D

Hudson Valley Rehab and Extended Care Center - How I found mom after 1st night. Covered in her own waste, diaper not affixed, hanging out of bed. Appalling. I had to take this sad pic.

Tracy the office manager called me and said my aide was taking to much time off my case and she was going to remove her from us. If it wasn't a problem for me why was it for her? I was shocked and begged her not to remove her. good aides are hard to find and she was the best. Then it seems she may have told my aide it was at my request. I called my case worker and ask her to talk to Tracy to see if she would put her back on our case. Tracy FLAT OUT LIED! to my case worker and her supervisor and said our aide left us. I texted my aide "I wasn't aware it was your choice to leave us, thank you for everything I wish you well." COME TO FIND OUT! she didn't leave us. I have no idea what Tracy told her because everyone is upset and we have only exchanged a few text. Tracy won't take my calls. This is only a job to these uncaring women in this office. they have devastated my daughter and myself for what reason I have no idea. They don't care about the people or the family's they are supposed to help. When you call to complain it falls on deaf ears. STAY AWAY!!!!!!

After that it went severely down hill to the point that it became dangerous. They aides did not show up. I was told they were on their way including the destination they were coming from but then they said they were 3 hours away not 30 mins, and then wouldn't be there until tomorrow. Which then they didn't show up for a 2nd day! This left my wheelchair bound parents without anyone in the house! And my mother was transitioning to hospice care so needed someone. The team who knew this did not call me in the morning to let me know of the delay (and ultimate no show) and gave the excuse of we don't call people before 7am as it's too early?! WHAT? You are leaving people without care - the sooner we know of your incompetence the sooner I can try and fill the gap!! The wonderful nighttime aides I hired on my own texted to let me know that someone didn't show up at 6am when they were supposed to. Yet the coordinator wasn't calling until 7am?? Then when reaching out to owners, operating officers or anyone I spoke to in the selling process I was even more disappointed. They do not care about your loved ones. They do not know how to handle an emergency let alone business as usual. I dropped them as soon as I could find someone else to step in. It was the worst experience and we have had bad experiences. Do not believe the personable touch you get in the beginning. I actually thought I might be friends with them (Christine) but there was no response after frantic reach outs trying to find coverage for their no shows. Nope she wanted nothing to do with me. The treatment and utter lack of accountability or compassion was staggering. I can not stress this enough- BEWARE of this sham of an organization. I can not select less than 1 star, but when you leave people without care, without caring, you should not even receive 1 star...

As my 12 yr old put it "looks like a mall without the stores." I spoke to several residents. They all had positive things to say. Your loved ones will be independent yet they will receive the care when needed and asked. Residents have to go to a pharmacy type area where the rn hands out there meds. If your loved one doesn't show up they announce on the loud speaker that they need to come and get there meds. If they don't respond they will look for them and make sure they take thier meds. When talking to the residents some there for 3 years some for 6 months. They really are happy with the facility. They praised how they are treated. They praised about the activities. They go to the movies (out of pocket expense) they take people also who have Medicaid and can supplement the monthly dues through the state that the ssi and ssa doesn't meet. The tour guide was an administrative assistant. The language barrier was a little hard so he did not explain much or couldn't. I would rather have someone give the tour with clearer explanation as to what rooms are for who and what a normal day consists of. The dining hall looked great and menu options for seniors looked superior. No urine smell. The people looked clean and care for accordingly. And for the most part friendly. I didn't meet much of staff, wich would've been nice because they are the ones that deal with residents mostly and their experience with them. I'm sure some staff can be disgruntled..especially if they are not appreciated by thier management..im sure we all been there a time or 2. We are all human after all. Because I didn't speak with staff and get a more elaborate tour i can't really say if this is a place for dad. I will update if I chose this facility. Good luck with this hard decision.

Apparently no dress code the employees are dressed inappropriately for a health care facility. Management and staff communication is lacking. The food served is adequate but that's it. The activity department does do a lot with residents. The nursing staff is sadly extremely short staffed ,disgruntled and over worked. Infection control is an issue. There are many other assisted livings in the area I would only use this one for the elders in the family you don't like,
