We had a couple of excellent bloody Mary's to start and followed with a wonderful shrimp dish and blackened chicken taco salad. Both were fantastic. We finished with a vanilla crème brûlée. We went for dinner and will never come back again. The food was bland, unseasoned, overcooked and undercooked. How is that possible?? Everyone got a ribeye steak between Med Rare and Med Well, and it ended up coming out Rare to Well Done. The service was uninviting and unwelcoming. Those Trout Poppers were almost cold and contained no trout. Overall, I'm just disappointed. I hope that someone from Gaston's reaches out, because when we put a complaint in, they didn't seem like they even cared. I will post a follow up if they do respond to me, because it appears they only respond to positive review.

And unbelieveably low rate! We used to stay at a world-class trout resort with its own jet landing strip, paying twice as much, and it wasn't as comfortable & clean as Pontiac Lodge. The boat dock person recommended the Pontiac Lodge for its cleanliness and we decided to give it a try, and we have been very impressed with what a great accommodation it is, at such an unbelievable rate! At the end of our recent stay I have actually suggeted to the owner that they raise the lodging rate, because the $50-$57 per night rate for a great place like this does not do it justice. The lodge is hidden away from the highway, at the end of a drive way. Everything in the lodge is IMPECCABLY clean, and the air is fresh with no stuffiness which is common in the ozark accommodations. The mattresses are firm. Furnishing is modest and mid-century with some country-style furniture & lamps, but again, everything is very well maintained. It's, very comfortable with fully equipped kitchen, great location hidden away from the highway & and has beautiful lake view that is framed by trees over the large decks. We hope to return soon!

Checked in on Thursday took the kids swimming (nice pool) used the only towls we had (room towls) . On the way back from the pool we asked for fresh towls to shower. We were very rudely told we were not supposed to use those towls at the pool . I explained we had no others and did not know we were not allowed to use them . She then very grudgingly got up and got us 3 towels ( for 2 rooms 8 people) and scolded me again for using them. I felt so bad I told her if she like I would take them and wash them.
