Absolutely wonderful - Cheyenne ,our waitress, was on top of it. Got exactly what we needed. I had a grilled cheese sandwich and my husband had one of the absolute best chef salad he's ever ate. The prices are phenomenal. So if you like ambience, old, southern cooking family atmosphere in a family owned restaurant then this is the place you want to go to for sure! The waitresses are all very nice. You could hear them in the back working super hard. Everyone was cheerful despite being on a Labor Day holiday and I do believe it was the first time my husband's ever tipped 30%!!! We were super pleased!!! Thank you Cheyenne!

This one has been around since 1945 and seems to still be going strong, so here's a vote for longevity. Basic diner menu, all scratch made and delicious. Friendly service. And the decor is pure small town diner where you get the impression the regulars don't even need to order because the staff know exactly what they want and how they like their eggs cooked. My breakfast was all good, but the grits were the standout. Some of the best I've had and the melted butter on top was just how I like them. It was really flavorful and definitely lived up to being their signature. Unfortunately, the chicken-fried steak was pretty dry, and it took quite a while to come out after everyone else at our table had already gotten their food. That made the experience a little disappointing, especially since we were really hoping to find some good Southern comfort food while in Starkville. One other thing worth mentioning is that the restaurant has a lot of political messaging displayed throughout the space. Overall, the pancakes and maple syrup were good, but the chicken-fried steak and overall experience left us wanting more.
