I believe they close at 2 p.m. We found parking, but the restaurant was full and was on a 10 minute wait for a table. I suppose that's the mark of a good, well-loved restaurant...that people are waiting to stand in line for a table! The wait was brief. On Sundays The Dixie Grill appears to host quite an after church crowd. This was our second such visit in the past 6 months. On our previous visit, my dining companion ordered The Fletch, which is NOT on the menu. A previous Yelper had reviewed the restaurant and mentioned it. My dining companion was intrigued and had to try it. You have to ask for it. It's a mac and cheese waffle, topped with a fried chicken breast, topped with flash-fried spinach and served with brown butter strawberry buffalo sauce. The plate presentation is eye catching with all the colorful components! It sounds weird, but for my dining companion who seeks out chicken and waffle entrees, this was enough to entice him. It was interesting, tasty and filling, but when a server passed by with a plate of fried chicken destined for another table, he looked longingly as that plate passed his gaze. We knew he would be ordering the fried chicken plate on this trip. We were seated and our server promptly greeted us and took our order. We had reviewed the menu in advance and knew what we were ordering. The fried chicken platter is $12.00 (white) and comes with two sides. In this case, my companion chose green beans and mashed potatoes. The plate also came with a roll or bread item of choice. The meal is filling and there was enough to take home half for lunch the next day. I ordered the chicken tender dinner for $13.00, which also came with two sides and a bread item. I chose mac and cheese and cole slaw. The mac and cheese was good. I don't care for the overly creamy cheese that loses the cheese flavor. This mac and cheese appeared to be the baked casserole type and I liked it! There were four chicken tenders served with honey mustard on the side. Both the fried chicken and chicken tenders are prepared with a batter that stays ON the chicken pieces when fried. Whatever it is, it's totally delicious. The green beans were steamed and served with pieces of diced bacon. Again, wonderful. My companion ordered a roll, which was soft and served with butter on the side. I ordered the hush puppies, served as a duo and fried, but still soft on the inside. If you haven't overeaten, I recommend you save room for dessert. The coconut cream pie is delightful and ample enough for two to share. The menu options are decidedly southern and a hearty meal for anyone with an appetite. The service staff are friendly, cordial and accommodating. We do like visiting Live Oak on Sundays and many of their local restaurants are closed on Sundays. The Dixie Grill is open on Sundays and this is a fantastic option for a breakfast, brunch or lunch!

My point is that you'll have to drive two hundred miles across two states to find anything comparable to The Grady House. Real antique furnishings, real flowers, real hospitality, and very real people. It shines through in the Miller family and staff. It's quaint, charming, and has that small-town, heartwarming vibe that makes you want to linger over your coffee a little longer. I ordered the Homemade Hash and Eggs, and it was almost perfect. The portion is hearty, so much so that I couldn't even finish it. But here's the kicker: the dish had absolutely no seasoning. None. Not even a sprinkle of salt and pepper. As someone who loves bold flavors, I found that strange. Thankfully, they had salt and pepper on hand, so after a generous shake (okay, several generous shakes), it turned into exactly what I hoped for: hearty, satisfying, and delicious. The coffee was solid but mild. I'm a "give me an extra espresso shot" kind of girl, so I would have preferred something a bit bolder. They offer basic creamer and sugar options, but I didn't notice any flavored coffee or syrups, so if that's your thing, keep it in mind. If you're a simple coffee drinker, you'll be just fine. What really sets Savannah Moon apart, though, is the service. The girl who greeted and served me was friendly and super sweet, exactly what you'd hope for in a place like this. She was genuine in a way that made me feel like a regular, even though it was my first time here. Overall, this is the quintessential breakfast spot. The prices are average in comparison to most of the sit-down breakfast spots I frequent. It's not trying too hard, it's warm and welcoming, and it just feels like the kind of place you want to visit again (and I definitely will).

I was there for breakfast, and had a Lavazzo cup of coffee, corned beef/potato hash with two basted eggs, and it was delicious. The corned beef hash was not prepared by a chef with precise knife cuts, but how I would do at home--irregularly cut potatoes, onions--it looked like hash! My friend had Eggs Benedict, and she told me they were perfectly delicious. And guess what? Bill was right at $25! Our server was a friendly, attentive young woman, who took good care of us. Run, don't walk, for an amazing breakfast at Savannah Moon Bakery, in downtown Thomasville. Their downtown deserves its own entry on social media.

I went to the Luke's Bagels location under the Standard this past week and was disappointed. I hadn't been here in a little bit, especially since Bagels & Co. just opened down the street. But I was craving a Luke's Bagels, so I got there around 8:30, when they opened ready to order. Unfortunately, no one was at the counter when I came in. Someone popped out from the back to take my order a little while's later though. Their bagel selection was extremely limited, more so than usual. They didn't have poppy seed or sesame seed bagels. This was surprising, as I thought this location was sent fresh bagels each morning, I guess not. Luckily, I was able to order a bacon, egg, and cheese on a toasted Asiago, along with a toasted plain bagel with strawberry cream cheese. This took roughly 15 minutes to come out, which was longer than I expected. Upon delving into my bagels, I noticed a couple things that were different from my previous visits last semester. The bagels were definitely smaller, had less cream cheese, and didn't taste as fresh. The BEC had ample amounts of American cheese and the eggs were good, but there was barely any bacon! There was MAYBE two meager pieces on the bagel, I didn't even get bacon in most of my bites. The Asiago bagel still had a decent taste, with a nice sharp Asiago. But it just wasn't very fresh tasting like they've been in the past. The texture wasn't awful, but it wasn't what it used to be. The plain bagel with cream cheese was lackluster. The plain bagel was just fine, as it too was not very fresh. The strawberry cream cheese was decent and not too sweet, which I appreciate. I also like that their cream cheeses have more of whipped texture to them. But there certainly wasn't as much cream cheese on this bagel as I've received in the past! Overall, I was not very pleased with my experience here. The bagels were not fresh at all, the sandwich was lacking bacon, and I just thought the quality appeared be lower. Maybe I came on an off day, but the bagels were not fresh and the assortment they had available was very limited. The texture of the bagels still has a softer center, with a chewy outside , but the outside was too chewy and hard. The size and portions were decreased as well. The BEC had too much cheap, American cheese, and lacked bacon. The plain bagel with cream cheese didn't have much smear on it. For being about $19 for two bagels, not worth it. This makes me sad as I used to love Luke's, but this was not a good visit. I hope next time I come here it is better!
