The staff is very friendly. I've made friends with staff members and fellow exercisers alike. The facility is clean and professionally run. And while I don't take advantage of it, the facility is open 24/7. There's no pool access overnight, however. And best of all? The price is extremely affordable.

Updated Review:…read more We've been YMCA since 2016 and overall have been happy. They do a good job of keeping the place clean and updated as much as they can. I appreciated that they have tried to add more classes with only one room and the gym. They have made a cycling room, which I hear offers great classes. They also added a midday yoga class, which is great when the kids are in school. I would like more daytime classes then evenings because that is better for my schedule. Childwatch is usually not busy, which is great. I do not use it anymore so I'm not sure on anything specific for childcare these days. Youth sports are affordable and the directors do a good job of making sure the kids are having fun and playing fair. It's nice they have a pool, but the schedule is hard to understand of exactly when open swim is. I also wish they would have a slide, like Coffman or something fun for the kids. The new director and new fitness director are really doing their best trying to improve the West Carrollton YMCA. Overall happy to be a member just wish they could make the place a bit bigger.

I showed up for a class today at 1 o'clock and no one was there. When I went to the desk, they were kind of dismissive. "If nobody's there it was probably canceled. Did you check the app?" They should know their audience. A lot of people are older and don't want to work apps. And with that being said, why would you hand me a weekly class list that is not correct? I also asked the front desk three times in the week I've belonged, where a class was located. None of them said "oh it's right here or it's right there." Every one of them had to pull up the app or go to the monitor and pull up a class. Shouldn't the front desk know more about what's going on and what classes are being held and where they are in the gym? I don't know. It's kind of souring me.

I signed up via QR code as there was not an employee to talk to or get a tour. Went today for the first time and was very disappointed. It's very unclean, lack of and poor access to cleaning supplies, broken or badly maintained machines, and the floor was filthy. There were multiple machines that had one or both issues of bad pads/ grips and un-maintained cable or weight stacks. I mistakenly signed up for a year and am location locked to this place so I'd gladly change this review if ownership would make the needed changes. Wife will not be joining as of now.

As we all know, YMCA come in a variety of packages and refreshes. Some are swanky and recently…read morerenovated (Cincinnati Ohio had a huge overhaul in 2020) while others are a little more rustic with older buildings that feel like part maze part school and equipment that has seen several trips around the sun. The Fairborn Y sits somewhere in the middle. Not new, not dilapidated. The free weight room is a converted racquetball court. The exercise machines are all in great condition, but feel squished together into one smaller room, so that when you are using the chest fly machine, you can feel the breath of the guy on the leg press machine and the grunts of the barbell warrior vibrate in your chest. It is close quarters, but everyone is polite. The locker rooms are located in a back hallway and up a couple steps and I don't know about accessibility options, but it is also tight quarters in the locker rooms, especially the bathrooms. Two stalls are jammed into a corner, so plan your potty visits with time to spare. It definitely gets the job done and you can get a great workout in if you already know what you are doing. But for people new to the gym or to working out, I think they could do a better job of making you feel welcome and making it clear who you can go to for questions if you have them. The front desk folks were friendly, but the three times I have been there so far, the staff member in the weight room is on the computer or their phone and doesn't even look up to acknowledge people who are at the water cooler 3 feet away. I'm not entirely sure they ARE an employee. All in all, it is a solid workout and a fine stop if you find yourself in town. You can't beat the YMCA network and as I travel all over, I am grateful to have a place to get my sweat on.
