Burn Boot Camp just recently opened up and I am so grateful to have my new "Burn Family". Emily is an amazing trainer and her energy mixed with her attitude, dedication and motivation makes it such a wonderful atmosphere. Not only does she keep you on your toes and make you push harder than you thought you could, she will entertain you. Burn uses body weight exercises and uses dumbells, bands, burn bars, the rig, and other items. I feel it is a mix between crossfit (much safer and not so strenuous on your joints) and a bootcamp class. If your looking for a change and want a gym to fulfill your needs and you like class based gyms this is for you. They offer many sessions to include 5am which is very hard to come by in the area. They also have "Childwatch" that is included with your membership for certain times of the day. Give it a try you will not be disapointed.

When I arrived I realized it's a legit boxing gym. No frills and no thrills. It's like out of an old boxing movie. However, the staff were really friendly and helpful. They had mitts and tape for me to use. (I recommend bringing your own if you have it) Ashley, one of the instructors, walked me step by step on how to wrap my hands and she give me a quick intro to some of the moves prior to the class beginning. I had an amazing workout and torched some serious calories. If you're looking to change up your fitness routine I highly suggest you give Drakes a try. (Bonus, the first class is free)

First night I show up they offer no free classes or a free trial, then before getting to know me the owner asked if I was interested in fighting in his charity fight, the whole thing smelled fishy. Next, on to when I actually got to spar. The "fighters" have zero self control and only aim for the head with about 100% of their power behind the punch, no wonder he needs volunteers to get beat up so bad. Everyone keeps getting injured sparring because there isn't any guidance or skill. The instructors told me very little about themselves so who knows if they have even been in a real boxing match themselves. Yet their training people on how to go into the ring and get beat up! Like I said, they offer a pretty good conditioning exercise but no real boxing technique except standing flat footed and brawling.

I've been going to the gym for years. Heard plenty of complaints about the owner but never had any…read moreissues. The other day however changed things and I cant give this guy my business anymore. First impressions last a really long time with me. This new guy came into the gym and I literally watched the owner follow him around the gym and tell him over and over again that the gym closes at 7. He also was standing in his way making for awkward moments of him having to say "excuse me" while looking at him all confused wondering why the owner and his dog is in his face. He handled it well until it was time to leave. Then the owner decided to talk to him like he was stupid because he didnt know where the exit was since the owner had told him he couldnt use the one he did know about. Thats when the new guy got pissed. Asked him what he did for him to treat him so badly. Of course, the owner had no reason to treat him like that so the owner started lying about what he said. Then the guy asked him if he had some stress he needed to work out and if he wanted to roll with him to take out his anger. Of course the owner refused and told him to go to planet fagness. After witnessing such an unprofesssional demeanor from the owner I cant give him my business. No one should. There are plenty of much better gyms in the area and you dont have to worry about the owner following you around and harrassing you.

It always seems like the computer for the black card spot is always down on third shift I think…read moreit's because they don't want to clean the beds on third shift because personally I know the computers do not crash that much it's just a matter of lazy employees that don't want to do anything but sit in the background I came in the other night nobody in sight called rang the phone nobody came nobody answered the phone knocked on the doors nobody would answer but there was other people working out in the gym but no employees in sight I am pretty sure they were sleeping back there in one of the rooms because they would definitely would have heard me beating on their door and the phone ringing I think they need to get some new employees for third shift because the gym is very dirty including the tanning beds and the women's bathroom just saying.

Here's where I have the problem: Cell phone dwellers. Last night I worked on a machine in the middle of four different people sitting on machines cruising their cell phones, taking literally minutes between sets. Tonight, I wanted to work on one, last chest exercise, but that machine was taken by a man with headphones, so occupied with his cell phone he didn't even notice my presence. I decided to return 45 minutes after cardio, and that same machine was taken by a husband-wife team who decided that instead of taking turns, it was social hour and chatting time. I wasn't really paying attention to the guy, but one man was in the 30 minute workout room, sitting on his phone. He was there when I went to the drinking fountain, when I started the treadmill - and 8 minutes later. Never actually saw him do a set. The positive: the place is very clean, there are a ton of cardio machines, the hours are great, and they generally have two of every machine. I'd rather have "lunks" than people more interested in cell phones than actually exercising.

He takes personal investment in your training, your goals and your fitness and this is something I value a lot. I greatly miss my days here and it's very disappointing I moved to where I can't attend the gym several times a week like I used too. As well the culture Daniel has built at his gym is one of a kind and is truly a family. Everyone is there to help you and to push you to be your best because everyone sees the potential in everyone. The self discipline I was taught has truly shaped me into the young man I am today, I know for a fact I wouldn't be the same person without boxing and especially without DMC Boxing Academy. Not to mention they keep their gym in extremely good shape with new equipment and everyone is taught to clean up after themselves and sanitize everything that you use. The gym was always clean and never smelled. I want to share a core memory of mine here which was getting into the ring, then throwing up (I made it to the toilet), and then getting right back in the ring and going at it again. Now this wasn't forced, but it's what I wanted, and that takes heart & self discipline, which again I wouldn't of had without this gym.
