Wow!! This eatery was exceptional in every way- food, service, personality, creativity! My son was enthralled by Chef Sebastian whizzing around his station with an abundance of energy and even more surprised when Chef popped his head up and greeted him with such warmth. The pozole is truly incredible (heat, sour, smoky- oh my!) and the flautas, beans, & rice did not disappoint. Calories don't count when the food is this good so we splurged on the agua fresca and the buenelos (the sauce is the stuff of dreams)... so worth it! Pros: relatively good for fast food. However I had the pozole. It wasn't stew but broth. I wouldn't order it again. It was huge. I'd rather have half the portion and twice the quality. You order from a counter and you have to bus your own table; so I find it super annoying that there are prefilled tips of 18, 20, 22% (for what?). The guac was really good, but the chips are very flimsy and can't hold it. My husband liked his tacos. I couldn't find any napkins and our food was delivered without utensils. Shrimp was good, but asked for lettuce and received naan bread. The horchata isn't quite classic, it almost tasted like there might have been a little rose water in it. I ended up only being able to finish about half to two thirds. The flavor profile was really good, especially when I squeezed in the fresh lime they provided. Atmosphere: Located inside Union Hall so not much to comment on regarding the overall ambiance of the location. Food: This was my 2nd visit to this establishment. The first one was pre COVID19. I asked the owner to recommend his best dish and he recommended the combo quesadillas with rice and beans. I'm not sure he recommended the quesadillas because they were his best offering because they were quick to prepare or because he felt it was one of the best things they served. The quesadillas were meaty and had depth but both the chicken and beef were dry. The beans were flavorful but the rice not so much. I ordered this around lunch time and frankly it was too much food for a lunch serving IMHO. I ended up not eating all of it. I also would like not to have my food served on a paper plate and my Passion Fruit Aqua Fresca served in a styrofoam cup. I'd also appreciate when the person waiting on me and the person making my food is not the same person because the quality of food suffers. The Passion Fruit Aqua Fresca was refreshing except for the white cup. Service: Not much to speak of here. The owner was had an enthusiastic personality unfortunately the food did not match his excitement. I honestly was expecting a bit more from this place but they just didn't tip the scale for me.
