There were five of us today, most of us having brisket and I had the half chicken. My chicken with sauce on the side was excellent, my broccoli was good, potato salad was OK. They bring your cornbread up front with butter for all of us which was nice, kept our drinks full, friendly service, and everyone that was with me and enjoyed their meals and actually had to take some home. Read about this place on Yelp and tried it based on those and we were glad we did. It's an old gas station, not very big, but the food is so good and very reasonable. That pulled pork plate was $11.00. Other reviews said the service was slow, but we did not experience that. Our food was delivered very quickly. Definitely give it a try. read more

Incredible restaurant. The pricing was very reasonable. The quality of the food was astonishing. To start the meal they bring out homemade cornbread which is buttery rich. Then I ordered the pork BBQ and you have to order HQ style with the coleslaw and onion rings. The onion rings were crispy and added a crunch to the sandwich. The bbq sauce I chose was the habanero bbq and it was something I would absolutely get again. It had the right amount of spice with a perfect tangy zing to it to complement. The service was awesome from the time we walked in to the time we left. This place is a must stop when you are in the Casper area. Stayed in Casper for one night on vacation and decided to try this BBQ spot. Wow, glad we did! Happened to go Thursday night and the special was smoked prime rib. When ordering, the waiter asked if I wanted the 12oz or 16oz... went for the 16, but what came out on my plate was more like 22-24oz! Huge portions and the prime rib was one of the best I've ever had! Also, I was delighted that the sides were amazing as well - creamed corn, Mac & cheese, bomb potato salad! Most BBQ places focus on just the meat, and the sides are just afterthoughts. Not here! I could not stop eating the mound of potato salad and other sides! HQ BBQ is a remodeled gas station that has become a BBQ hot spot. The wait on Sun at 6pm was 30 min, so I opted to sit at the bar. Per Yelp recommendations, I ordered the "Top 2," which is 4 ribs, brisket and two sides. The bartender recommended having the ribs done dry rub with spicy BBQ sauce on the side, which was absolutely delicious. The dry rub allows the edges of the ribs to crisp up while keeping the inside chewy and tender. The "spicy" sauce is quite mild but robustly flavored and perfect for the ribs and the delightful zucchini fries. I thought the brisket was on the dry side, though they are pretty flavorful with some BBQ sauce and are still quite good reheated. I had the mac n cheese and the zucchini fries as sides. Oh my goodness, the zucchini fries are so good!! So hot and tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. The mac n cheese I was disappointed with after all the rave reviews on here as well as from the lady next to me who said she always orders double mac. There was not much depth of flavor to the mac; just noodle, sticky cheddar roux, and some unmelted shredded cheese as a topper. Service was very slow. The bartender was also the waitress for what seemed like half the restaurant and the kitchen was fairly slow (~25min). Okay, if there's one reason and one reason only to move to Casper, it's HQ BBQ. HQ is barbecue heroin. Our hotel receptionist said it was the best barbecue in the state and while I'm not a Wyoming barbecue expert, it definitely ranks with the best barbecue I've had anywhere. The night we were there they were having a special, a full slab for... wait for it.... $17.00. Seriously. It came with 2 sides, I chose TO DIE FOR Mac and Cheese and DEEElicious zucchini fries. We took the huge amount of left overs with us and the next night when we were hundreds of miles from HQ - we had delectable ribs again. Drinks were good too, don't miss them. Prices are great, portions are large, service is fast, efficient, and friendly. The place is clean and basic. It's no frills barbecue at it's best. read more

Disclaimer: this is a 4 for Casper I have family in NC and TX and have had an unhealthy amount of BBQ in both so this isn't entirely fair. However, I have to say it is decent and better than most places that do BBQ in random spots, especially in a smaller place like Casper. I have had BBQ on the west coast, Denver, the southwest and it was comparatively garbage so I think this place is doing some things right. Only real knock is meat is a bit too dry and the sauce is a little too sweet. The sides are solid though which is a big plus. I mean it is hard to compete in the big leagues with the meat so do the little things right. I will be coming back and the people working there were nice. read more

Normally a bbq joint is pretty quick because all the meat is smoked and ready to go. Sides are also ready to serve for the most part. That brings to question why the service here could be so slow. It wasn't a full restaurant when we arrived early for dinner (5 pm). They do have a lot of take out orders, but those weren't moving out swiftly. It was 20 minutes from the time we arrived before they even took our order. Then ANOTHER 57 minutes to get our food. At least the food was good. Otherwise I would have given it one star. read more

He mentioned that their ribs, brisket and pulled pork (which are all cooked in a smoker at the same time) were all popular dishes with their zucchini fries, Mac and cheese, and Cole slaw as their top sides. We decided to order their "top two" from the menu which is their ribs and brisket with zucchini fries and Mac and cheese as our sides. Since it was Sunday, they had a special for 2 for 1 bloody Mary. Our drinks and food arrived very quickly! The bloody Mary was one of the better bloody Mary's I've had in awhile! They put their dry rub on the rims of the bloody Mary and it gave that little extra. The sides were amazing, the zucchini fries were nice and crunchy and I loved dipping them in the buttermilk ranch that also had the dry rub spice in it. The mac and cheese was cheesy, I loved it! Our main course, the ribs were made with the dry rub so it wasn't my favorite but I loved the brisket because it was cooked wet meaning it was very moist. That's just my palate though and everything was amazing! So if you are ever passing through or stopping over in Casper, I'd definitely recommend this BBQ joint as it's right off of the exit of i25 and the prices are quite reasonable! read more

This is my first stop in Casper, every time I visit! I always order the dry ribs, which are delicious with the perfect amount of smokey flavor. I then get the macaroni and cheese with broccoli. If you like to add heat to your meal, they have a spicy sauce that typically comes with their wings. I order this and put it into my mac and cheese. The service is always fantastic! read more

The zucchini fries are amazing. The addition of HQ style to a burger is great. The Epic Mac is not so epic. The creamed corn is pretty good. But again on the zucchini fries they are amazing. The pulled pork or "Q" was a little dry same with the brisket but the sauces takes care of that nicely. There are three different sauces regular,sweet, and spicy. I really liked the sweet. The sweet tea is very nice And comes in a mason jar. The andouille sausage was very spicy and tasty. If you are looking for great bbq this is the place and the place is a old gas station.
