I've been seeing Dr. Archna Chaudhary for a while now and honestly have had a really great experience. I've been to each of the multiple locations, and all of them are clean and easy to get in and out of. The newer office by the Long Beach Traffic Circle is especially nice. Wait times are very reasonable, I'm typically seen within 5-10 minutes... and to be fair, half the time that's because I'm walking in right at the last minute. As for Dr. Chaudhary, she's been great. She actually listens, takes her time, and explains things in a way that makes sense. She has a good balance of being gentle but also straightforward, which I personally like. I've never felt rushed, and she's open to talking through different options instead of just immediately prescribing something. I've also seen a few of the nurse practitioners and they've all been pleasant. If you're on the fence because of reviews, I'd just say go see for yourself and form your own opinion. I've recommended her to friends and family and would continue to do so.

However, enough is enough. This review is about Open Access Medical Care, which is run by Dr. Mehtab Bhambra Dhamija and the Instagram ladies at her practice. So, what happens when an 84-year-old goes to this practice and is notified that her lab reports, which have abnormalities, do? According to Ruby (we don't know if this is her real name) - it is the patient's job to review the results, note the abnormalities, and then schedule an appointment with the doctor. That is the office protocol. OK!!! So, when is the first available appointment for an 84-year-old who has an infection and abnormal reports? Five weeks after the test results came back. "May I speak to the Practice Administrator? " - I request. "Please wait!" 14 minutes later. "She is busy with another patient!" says Ruby. "I will wait" After 44 minutes of waiting, the phone goes quiet. No call back. Could it be possible that the ladies are busy making videos for Instagram? Apparently, there are tons of videos with the doctor and ladies on social media selling cosmetic procedures online. An 84-year-old's life is more precious than making dancing videos. Next stop - medical board of California and the insurance company. Sorry, Dr. Dhamija. 30 years of patronage hold little value at your clinics in Long Beach and at Walk In Medical Clinic in Artesia. Update: Heard back from APLA LB and the billing issue was resolved. Issue was with the system…read moreupdating correctly and since it's for PrEP related services my balance is now zero. All good and look forward to continuing to be a member of APLA in the coming year. Was surprised to have seen the issue as is since APLA is known for delivering PrEP related care throughout LA City, but as mentioned above it was resolved and heard back from the clinic director and billing as well. Experience with the clinic itself has never been an issue. Always seen on time and the staff / team have been responsive to questions and care. ----- Have been going for PrEP which is covered by my insurance plan (my insurance plan is also accepted by APLA). As required, there was not to be additional fees beyond an expected co-pay for an appointment. I received a bill last week for almost $200 from APLA though. The bill didn't make sense so I called the number provided on the electronic bill and after getting through the AI messaging system, I was able to speak to someone who reiterated I have a balance due. Tried explaining that it appeared wrong, but was told that the balance was due and that a payment plan could be setup. I ended up calling my insurance plan and filed a grievance to have the issue looked into and resolved since no one at APLA was helpful. Was surprised by this behavior by APLA's billing since they claim to be a leader in HIV prevention for LA residents. Not sure I'll stay on with them as my PCP at this point, but glad I looked into the bill since it's wrong.
