Been going to this cinema for ages .. at least over 10 years lol!!…read moreHave seen this place at its "Worst" which wasn't that bad but alot of people must of only experienced gold class in their lifetime possibly and now today at it's extensive upgrade which is still bad for some.. oh well can't please them all ;) Premium tickets were only $13.. the cinema sests are vinyl and full recliners accompanied with a small table and cup holder.. feeling pretty special haha ;)!! Cinema food is the same you'd get anywhere else naturally, I'm a big choc top kind of guy like 2 - 3 at a time lol.. dont go to the movies everyday luckily ;)!! but suprisingly you couldn't buy a coffee at the cinema.. seems pretty standard these days haha, they had a great cafe just outside the entrance for my caffeine fix :). The cinema location is great, if your there during the daytime you could spend a whole day there with Costco and Anaconda down the road and then the rest of adventure and other shops in the cinema complex and for the night time you have the 24 hour maccers and Krispys on the other side of the road for those tasty treats before or after yohr movie :) This place will always be a favorite cause of the location, the comfortablefactor and cheap movie tickets :)!!

This was the most filthy, mismanaged, shit hole of a cinema I've ever been to…read more We went at midday on a Sunday. There were three people behind the counter and about 20-30 people waiting in queue. First red flag was that there weren't enough employees, or employees doing their job so shitty that they managed to create a queue of people on a Sunday. They were out of large popcorn. Let me repeat: THEY WERE "OUT" OF LARGE POPCORN. HOW. DAMN well order the larger cardboard popcorn boxes. Maybe learn how to run a business? Everyone tells me that a theatres major source of income is the food and drink yet they can't even offer what people want? Larger flipping boxes?!? They were also out of choc tops??? I'm only a little mad. The lobby was literally falling apart. The carpet was matted, the tiled floors were sticky as if they hadn't been cleaned in eons. The theater had also not been cleaned. There was trash still in the seats and we had to claw out way to sit down. SURE - the tickets are cheap but in no way is it a worthwhile experience.

We were very early arriving at our hotel and they had no rooms for us to check-in early so we had a…read morelot of time to kill. Even though we had just travelled about 24 hours, we decided a movie would be a nice way to kill said time. I thought it would be a nice nap time but the movie was interesting and none of us slept. This theater is odd but interesting. You buy tickets at the concession stand. I wish I had tried the popcorn but I assumed I might not be awake so eating was out. The theaters are spread around the floor in different pockets of the area, so it's more like walking to a different shop. Even though it was a matinee, we were told it was mostly sold out and that we'd have to sit in the second row. This worried me but the person selling the tickets said it's where they prefer to sit and, again, I assumed I'd sleep so we agreed. We sat in theater 11 and lone behold, it wasn't going to be a problem because the screen is far away and there's a good amount of space between the front row and the screen. The other unique thing about this room was there was a large window. I've never seen this in a movie theater before and it was cool. Don't worry, the drapes, once closed, were nice and thick and let no light in. The seats were comfy and did manually recline. I only like to recline if there's a leg rest though so I didn't do that.

Came here for a $5 movie deal. I believe they market themselves as a boutique kind of movie cinema…read more I dont think there was more than 25 seats, and the screen is not as big as your typical cinema. But the chairs were clean and comfy. I am not sure if I would want to pay full price for such movie experience...but their "award winning olive oil" popcorn is delish :)

The cinema that ruins every other cinema experience for ever more…read more Quite simply the finest, classiest, most demure, seductive, charming and good old-fashioned fun cinema experience in Sydney and quite possibly the universe. Every time you visit a soulless megaplex after your time at Hayden Orpheum it will be a singularly disappointing experience bereft of any aesthetics or cultural value because really, how can anything compare? The cinemas are stunning art deco, they sell old-school choc tops, there's a solid program of the latest blockbusters and art house / doco fare, and they have insanely fun cult classics like a monthly interactive showing of the word movie ever made, The Room. There are love seats in the main cinema, and a freaking organ that rises up out of the floor for matinee performances. I know right! What what all the way. Best.

The Orpheum has kept it's gorgeous original deco interiors and exteriors intact, and the last time I visited (John Cleese triple bill including the Life Of Brian on Easter Sunday- kudos Orpheum!), there was a vintage pianist playing the grand piano in the lobby. I would love to see a silent movie thing here and I would bet money that they do them, it's that kind of place. Check out retro cinema Sundays- awesome and affordable triple bills that people dress up for. Old school wholesome entertainment, I love it.
