The beach also has clean flush toilets and a full snack bar, making it easy to spend the whole day here. If you're driving, try to arrive before 9:00 AM or after 1:30 PM to avoid the long line for parking. Parking is $35 paid with credit cards only, but for us it was well worth it. Definitely a must-visit if you're on Cape Cod!

Go when the tide is going out and you can explore everything left behind on the ocean floor, or come back when the tide is coming in. Watching the water return at the speed it does is a really unique experience. You can check the tide schedule online. We went on a relatively mild, overcast day. The water was cold but not freezing. I imagine on a hot summer day it probably warms up quite a bit since it's so shallow. This was an incredible experience for both of my kids. My one year old loved splashing around in all the little pools the tide left behind. My six year old was completely fascinated watching the tide come rushing back in. None of us were expecting it to be as dramatic as it was. The overall vibe here was great too. People seemed friendly and relaxed, and we enjoyed the atmosphere much more than some of the beaches we visited around Newport the week before.

The sand drifts along the homes driving up to the beach, look like snow drifts. The steps are all sand covered as swept. At the beach itself, it was just a windsurfing couple and dad and I. It was about a 20 min walk (or 2 minute drive) from our cottage and free to get on to, which is unheard of in Jersey! You do have to pay for parking ($30 on weekends and $20 on weekdays) so that, plus the walk being the only form of exercise we all got for 7 days straight, was all the motivation we needed for skipping the car. The water was nearly dead still all week, no garbage anywhere and lifeguards were on duty most of the time. They made sure to clear the water when any sign of a storm was coming in and left us alone the rest of the time. One of my friends was terrified of sharks so she was a beach bum the whole time while me and my other friend would hang out in the water at least half the day. Sure, it was cold, but it was also SO hot on the sand, so super cold water was welcomed. I loved loved loved how not crowded this beach was. Again, coming from Jersey beaches, it's unheard of!! But we had so much room from other people and never felt like we were too close. A great place for a beach day (or week)!

He had invited friends and family down, we had discussed it and felt safe and comfortable with going. I rarely go to the beach, my fair skin, even with all the sunblock, ends up burning. However I try to go at least once a year for a swim, be it the ocean or a lake. The water, super refreshing on a hot summer day! Being about 60-something degrees, it was a shock at first, but then easily adapted to the temperature. The water was opaque from the seaweed being agitated, it was nice how deep the water got. However, 'Jaws' scared the crap out of me as a kid so I felt a little uneasy since it is not a harbor or bay, but just jutting along the open ocean on the outside portion of the Cape. So being in water where the seafloor drops off, in opaque water, made me a little anxious. The only good thing is knowing there are no seals nearby (sharks are attracted to areas with them, and attacks happen in less then 3 feet of water). Oh did I mention a tip is to not swim in murky water? Anyways, now that I have you paranoid about swimming here, the beach is beautiful and plenty of open space, and life gaurds are present.

People bring their 4x4s here and park and play (but not many of them). Get to South Street off 6A, and then drive, drive, drive to the end of South Street (it's bumpy and gravely and a fun ride) where we can park in a nestle of trees. From there it's a quick hop over the dunes via the path, and endless splashing and playing await. Check the tide times for Barnstable harbour, and head on down for low tide! There's even some rocks to play around on if you do hit high tide....

I thought it was really unique seeing the amount of crabs and other sea life around! There was some seaweed and other stuff along the sand, but that's pretty standard for a beach. Overall, it was pretty clean. Since we visited in October, it seemed to be mostly locals, which made it nice and peaceful with plenty of space for everyone. :)

I was thinking the typical pizza shops, arcades, and ice cream shops along the beach and sitting in the sand to watch sunset (that's how our boardwalks are like down by the Jersey shore). I was pleasantly surprised that it was a single boardwalk that led to a spot with benches to watch the sunset. It held such a peaceful vibe that even when talking to my partner, I tried my best to whisper to maintain that peaceful atmosphere. I loved all the nature that you are able to witness here -- the long stretches of sand, the marshlands and the osprey nest, and the Cape Cod bay out ahead. I truly enjoyed this hidden gem, and I highly recommend it for watching sunset if you're in the area :) reminder that it is an environmentally sensitive area, so do treat the area with respect and keep its cleanliness (take any trash back with you if you have any!)

I lost my dad 7 years ago but as I was standing on the pier I could hear him yelling at me as if I were purposely catching puffer fish that he had to fight off the hook. Yes, I admit to getting teary eyed with nostalgia. It is a really cute beach with a nice jetty. The pier is great for high tide fishing and low tide viewing. The water is super clear with no snags or rocks to catch your line.
