WOW - What an awesome job Rick Maurice Howard and Lonnie did this week, moving my granddaughter's Spinet piano across the bay to her home! Timely, friendly, competent.. Rick had several dollies, blankets, straps.. clearly experienced in moving pianos!! And very communicative.. he called back within 2-days to schedule the job, called when he was 15-min out from arriving to load it and then called again on his way to deliver. And very fairly priced.. $350! I can't thank you enough, Rick.. We are so appreciative of you and your outstanding piano moving service! And thank you to the other reviewers, I hired Rick based on all his awesome review!!!

Professional, punctual, polite! This one man moved a mountain! Navigated our awkward stairs with ease. For that, he is my hero. He was careful and methodical and kept the stress level down. I highly recommend Rick Howard of Howard's Piano Moving.

Their website says to email them for a quote. I sent two emails, one over 6 weeks ago, and didn't receive a reply to either one.

I was desperate to move my upright piano and called Rick on short notice, and he was able to move it in the same day!

He also just got his second covid19 vaccine, just before we visited, so that's another reason to shop at this piano wonderland. I know I keep saying piano wonderland, but that's really what this place is. Jeff understands the joy of playing piano, being a long time pianist himself. While my husband spent LITERALLY HOURS, trying out every single upright in the wonderland, Jeff was so patient with me (a non pianist). I learned so much from him about pianos, and also about the beautiful field of miners lettuce in his backyard. And he listened, politely, to me telling him my life story too, and I know I have a tendency to do, especially when I haven't talked to a stranger in months They've got a great rent to own program, and he's got a favored piano mover that has very reasonable rates (if you go through Jeff). My piano snob husband surprised all of us, including himself, when after trying every piano, we ended up deciding on a HUGE turn of the century (1906) Irving upright. We are concerned it might have too much sound for our small home, so we're renting it to start with. But when we do finally buy a piano, we're fairly determined that it will be from him. He sells new pianos, but he also rebuilds pianos, focusing on the health and sound of the piano. And it shows. EVERY SINGLE PIANO in that place sounds amazing. AMAZING. If you love pianos, and love the real acoustic resonant warm sound of unique pianos, come here. You also get a great piano mover without having to search for one, and a man who KNOWS his pianos. And tunes them like a dream. (He also has a 35 year old apprentice, but he wasn't there when I was).

Very excellent business to order reconditioned pianos from! We are extremely pleased and glad we…read moredidn't chose from a random single individual. The piano we ordered was shipped with care inside our house by the owners themselves, and they had the further courtesy to even test and install it while also explaining the specifics of our model and how to utilize everything (such as plugging in and explaining the temperature humidity control system, the petals and how to utilize them such as pushing one of them down then left to make it quieter, opening lid etc). We are ABSOLUTE beginners so we appreciated every single information they gave us even if others may find it obvious or common sense. To future pianists (or if you already are one) looking for a good pre-owned piano in Cali, they definitely get a 5 stars from me. The owners, Andrew & Bryan, without a doubt have a deep respect for the art of pianos shown by their skill (they played inside our house during the testing), care/reconditioning (the pre-owned pianos go through a thorough check by them which includes tuning and cleaning so you don't have to go through the hassle. There's other things they do as well in part for the reconditioning but I know most people look at tuning first when it comes to maintenance, just visit their website for more information), and their excellent customer service. Very pleasant and genuine people to purchase from, please support local businesses that genuinely love their work and their customers!

I finally reached a point in my career where I needed an excellent instrument at home for both coaching and my own concert prep, but a grand wasn't logistically feasible in our space. I spoke to Andrew about the kinds of things I was looking for in a piano and he arranged for me to come down and play a number of possibilities, even some that were mid-restoration in their workshop! The 1867 Steinway proved to be the perfect fit - it looks and sounds BEAUTIFUL and is the perfect amount of piano for our house. I also have to mention that they did some last minute adjustments to the action per my request, and also bravely fielded some tight Victorian stairways to get the piano moved in. If you're in the market, take a day to drive down to Santa Cruz, enjoy the beach and test out some pianos!
