I'm quirky and odd and frankly a bit off, but Daniel and Dr Hauser were kind and accepting of my idiosyncrasies and gave me the best and most thorough exam I've ever received. Some new cool gizmos were used I'd not experienced before but I was made comfortable and got through it all with ease. Friendly and knowledgeable, the staff at Howard Optometry provides very good service. I had many questions about the condition of my eyes. All the information and testing done helped me feel comfortable about the answers and suggested steps to gain improvements. When my Optometrist retired a few years back, I contemplated going to the Doctor who has bought his practice. I then remembered that Costco offered optometry services. My husband and I met with Dr. Howard and knew we had found our new Optometrist. She is so personable and genuine, she takes her time and really listens. She knows who we are and remembers details about us and our personal lives. Her staff is also amazing, they are friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. I had the best experience. Last year I went elsewhere and the doctor changed my Prescription. When I told that doctor I couldn't see well in the new Rx she scoffed at me. I've gone 11 months complaining about my vision. I went back to Costco recently and they put me back on my old prescription which has me seeing 20/20 distance and less reliant on readers. read more

Dr Howard was the first doctor who accurately recognized my true contact lenses prescription! For about a decade, I have had the same prescription (Lens Crafters) and the past few years, my eyesight has worsened as far as reading - Dr Howard suggested a new prescription and I am so much happier being able to actually SEE the camera inside my car without reading glasses over contact lenses. I went in to get trial lenses after having the optometry dept order lenses I purchased--they never arrived. They gave me sample lenses when the order finally came in, basically 30- 40 boxes, which I didn't want. I ordered a normal box of lenses.There was something wrong with them, so I came back in, and saw Dr Veronica Chew, after oddly the Optometry office demanded I see the doctor for sample fitting. I've never had to do that before. I've had to get samples from this same place many other times--I've been coming here for ten years. Only this time, they forced me to take out my lenses-- i inserted new ones in front of the Dr. She never even examined my eyes. Dr. Veronica Chew told me to drive home with blurry vision--GET THIS--She never examined my eyes after I explained that I could not see to drive. I explained that I could not SEE, and she told me I could see. It explained I had blurry vision, and very rudely, she said you're fine to drive. She looks like she is 12, and clearly just graduated. Come to find out, I get home, and she was responsible for helping me, and allowed me to leave- to drive home with 2 pairs of lenses stacked on top of one another, 4 lenses total. I drove home like that, with no other option, and could not even read my GPS. With 4 lenses, a person cannot see up close--having my rx, which is only -1 in each eye. What a joke. read more

Wonderful experience that I truly hadn't expected! I never considered visiting the optometrist in the Costco but it was extremely efficient courteous and sanitary. I had the female optometrist who was so professional funny and sweet and she tried real hard to see if I could have ANY prescription to help support my getting some cute new glasses id seen at a store recently, but having had lasik eye surgery 11 years ago, apparently it held up too nicely (haha) and I still have 20/20 vision with no need for any additional rx including help with astigmatism, readers, ANYTHING. I did the eye wellness exam to evaluate my optic nerve and membrane thicknesses etc since I have a hx of slightly elevated optic nerve diameter from 20 years ago and she said it would be valuable to monitor it and have a new baseline since I had none of my records. All was good! She explained my results quickly and in layman's terms. From start to finish it was 45 mins including electronic forms, 3 eye tests in addition to the rx exam, and payment. Afterwards, they spent quite a bit of time going over results, and dialing in the prescription for glasses to be just perfect. The office was very proficient in health insurance, and knew ahead of time what was covered and let me know ahead of time if something might cost extra. Same with the purchase of glasses. Although my appointment didn't go through their system (my mistake), they got me in quickly. The technician was efficient and conducted the tests professionally. Dr.Forman was very nice and did an excellent job of walking me through the results and took quite a bit time explaining the photos of the back of my eye. This was the worst optometrist I have ever dealt with. They were controlling things too tight, in terms of trial lenses and ability to feel comfortable. Felt like I was aggressively handled and rushed. They did not supply me with enough trial lenses. All the previous doctors I have worked with at costco optometrist, were a joy to work with. I guess they had set different expectations. I will never be going to them. read more
