I had been purchasing books online through thrift retailers, but a friend suggested borrowing them from the library instead to save money. After browsing the library's website, I was pleasantly surprised to find a wide selection of newly released memoirs available. I'm now saving a significant amount, and the three-week borrowing period is generous--especially with the option to renew if there are no holds. The library itself is spacious, bright, and very welcoming. While I haven't fully explored it yet, it appears to have dedicated areas for children and teens. In addition to books, I noticed they offer DVDs and have far more computers than I remember from the library I used to visit in Montgomery County decades ago. The staff I interacted with while setting up my library account and locating newly released memoirs were both knowledgeable and friendly, which made the experience even more enjoyable. I also appreciate the convenient exterior features, including a book drop located right out front and a parking lot with an awning that provides coverage for cars. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with what this library has to offer and the welcoming service I've received so far.

This library is part of the Howard Library network and has a great set of books. Both their website and app are user-friendly to browse, hold and check out books. To start, the children's area is mostly empty, devoid of toys and other learning materials that allow children to express their creativity. Instead, the main children's are has a couple of round tables, a few chairs, a kids toy house in the middle of the service area, and a few old and dirty toys. That's it. For a community with over 9,000 children ages 9 and under. There's no enclosed place for kids. No new learning environments. How does Arbutus, which was last remodeled over a decade ago have a better kids play and learning area than Catonsville which was remodeled just last year? The other frustrating thing is that staff aren't around to help. There's one person at the desk. That's it. If there's a line of 3 people, they say they can't call for back up unless it gets longer. If you ask a person shelving books, they can't help either saying it's BCPL policy that two people can't help someone at the desk. I will say, the branch is clean and the bathrooms are way better. I also like the enclosed teen space which is nice. I also think generally, most of the staff are pretty pleasant. It just sucks that BCPL blundered the renovation and are hampering customer service.

Just look at the funding cuts for clubs, overworking their students and the lack of proper queer support - money they spend on frivolities, but cannot even bring themselves to enter a trans student's preferred name in the system in a timely manner, if at all. I give one extra star for the handful of teachers as well as the free printing. I think that if they actually cared about their students well beings though, they would at least listen to their voices. Lol!!

This is definitely a great addition to the community. Let's start with the downs so we can end of a positive note. This library is very small compared to other Montgomery county libraries. There's only a handful of computers avalible to guests to access the Internet. This library also hasn't received an upgrade in what appears to be forever. The lack of outlets and overall lack space really effect the vibe. Copies are .15¢ for black and white while color is $1 per sheet- kind of intense. Now the positives- the staff here are super friendly and there are plenty to help if needed. The space offers classes throughout the week for several different audiences. Due to it being a smaller library it's very quiet and there's almost always a table. WiFi is easy to connect to and is reliable. Large parking lot and two Pokestops.... yup it's 2019 and I'm still playing Pokémon Go.

Outside of enjoying that their collection stocks my personal favorite niche genre, I also love their "Be Surprised Bundle" program. You can fill out a form online and provide information about your favorite books (favorite authors, genres, themes, etc) and a librarian will curate a bundle of books for you. It's similar to "blind date books" that I've seen at some other libraries, but I enjoy this more because someone is trying to appeal to your specific tastes when selecting novels for you. There are also great books in their online collection. I love using the Libby app paired with my Kindle. I also love that they provide EV charging (paid) and EV/low-emission parking spots.

Overall, I had a nice experience at this library and thought the library had a very relaxed environment. I primarily used one of the individual workstations. While dazing in empty space during one of my breaks, I noticed that the library staff was very helpful with questions from patrons. The only thing that I would change, from my very brief experience at this branch. I wish the lights were a little brighter.
