Beautiful library location. They have a host of book talk events and a large selection of books. I was disappointed to come here and they were out of t-shirts for the summer reading program, as I had signed up in advance. I guess signing up did not guarantee that items would be on hold for me. However, I was able to go to another branch with no issue. I have to ask questions about the parking because that would be my only set back about visiting this branch.

One of my favorite places in the world-a library. Enoch Pratt is one of those special places. So much can be said about their commitment to the community and the resources they provide that encompass way more than books. The hard work of the staff makes it all possible. I had the privilege of attending Supreme Court Justice's Sonia Sotomayor's event last night for her new children's book and had a ball! Even if you can't get to this branch (and I would highly recommend doing that) find your local branch.

I only found out this library existed about a year ago when I went for a free author, reading and book giveaway. This is an amazing resource to the city. This is the central location as a name suggests, and the architecture is absolutely stunning. The staff here are super friendly and there's a huge library in resource center, but I've only ever been here for events. For larger events, the staff provides parking validation for the Franklin garage and the most recent event I went to they offered drinks. Baltimore is a city that reads and one of the central crux of that culture is that you know Enoch Pratt Library system. There's a lot to do in the area, so be sure to add this if you're visiting to see the exterior and interior and or come to borrow a book or events if you live here!

They host the most phenomenal variety of free community events. In honor of Juneteenth they had a Beats N Bingo event. Great people, great food& drinks and great music!

Came to Enoch Pratt Free Library to get some work done but left fairly quickly since the WiFi wasn't working for my bf's computer. Not a bummer tho- I'm glad we got to experience the library on a quieter Friday! The space is gorgeous, the librarian helping us tried so hard to get the WiFi to work on my bf's laptop and got it to work for mine. The bathrooms are clean. There is ample seating and lighting. Gorgeous building inside & out!

I had never been to this library before but recently attended one of their panel discussion series. The library is beautiful, inside and outside. As soon as you enter, you're blown away by the gorgeous architecture, the ceiling murals, and the sheer size of the place. Apparently, there's a ton of rooms upstairs for quiet space to work. I didn't get the chance to explore the second floor but it seems expansive. Even just finding the bathroom, I was shocked to see just how far the hallways extend and wind through many different sections of books, vinyl records, and more. For being a free, public library, I was pleased to see how well maintained and organized it is. The bathrooms were a little dirty but I've seen worse. I'd definitely recommend paying a visit to this Enoch Pratt Library. We are lucky to have such a resource in Baltimore!

My friend and I saw Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson at the Enoch Pratt Library on Saturday 9/21. I love that the library runs a FREE speakers series inviting all kinds of authors and speakers for a moderated fireside chat and reading. The staff and event organizers are friendly and competent. This library is so beautiful inside and out with intricate decor and architecture! The library is also clean and well maintained. I can't wait to come back!

Gorgeous library in the heart of Mt. Vernon. The building looks impressive from the outside, but the inside was much prettier than I expected. High ceilings, glass roof, marble floors... need I say more? In terms of reading material, there's enough here to keep anyone happy, and lots of little places to sit, read, study etc. So glad to have this gem in our neighbourhood.

This is a phenomenal library is truly underrated and not appreciated enough!! I have been living in Baltimore for 5+ years and honestly I am embarrassed I didn't visit sooner! The library is HUGE with large, clean, well organized sections dedicated to books, periodicals, a whole section of career center, and so much more. My heart warmed to find a whole section called the "African American Library." It has nice space for using computers, reading, or getting work done. The energy was inspiring. I was surrounded by hundreds and hundreds of books written by African Americans. While wandering around the library, I noticed there are a couple of officers dedicated for research or archivists. There was a beautiful mural explaining the legacy of Harriet Tubman. Did you know she is from the Eastern Shore of Maryland?! The librarians recommended I check out the Children's and Teen's section. Wow. These sections are so beautiful. Each section has a dedicated, organized, state of the art creation center filled with supplies for art, poetry, photography and so much more. It was cool to learn how frequent events are occurring for kids, teens, young adults, and adults. Lastly, I was happy to see they have a social worker in the library. Oh oh! I cannot finish this review without sharing THE FACT THAT THE LIBRARY ALLOWS YOU TO BORROW VINYL RECORDS!!! Tom works this section and he is so brilliant! He explained that that the library allows people to borrow modern music or classical or old music on record, quite a collection they have! Surely, I'll be back again, this library will become my go-to study spot, especially after hours expanded until 8pm!

This water fountain was in the children's section..!

I visited this branch for the first time to sign up for the Read to Reef summer reading program, which rewards with 4 free tickets per family to the Baltimore Aquarium..! The librarians were a pleasure--very customer service oriented. The application process was quick (I'd downloaded and filled out the form before hand), and I obtained the materials for the program easily. My experience inspired me to research true library online and now I'm looking forward to planning a field trip with my children to the Central library, even though we live outside of Baltimore. The library is open but under renovation which curiously enough makes it even more fun to visit. I also learned that I can borrow books and return the books at ANY library in the state (just remember to keep the returns receipt if returning book's to a library not part of the Enoch Pratt system.) Also since my children are participating in the Reed to Reef program, they each got cards (worth a free visit to the Baltimore Aquarium for a maximum of 4 people.)

A lovely nook in the Pratt.

I come to this library primarily to use the study rooms which are nice, spacious and comfortable. They have a white board inside of them as well. My favorite part of this library is the display of African American baseball artifacts on multiple levels. It shows how important, valuable and the great contribution African Americans players made to the sport of baseball. Park on the garage level.....maybe on floor 3 of the garage which had a small bridge to enter the library directly. Also, The community college shares the upper floors of this library as well which includes larger study rooms and an entire computer lab. The staff is really helpful as well. Will definitely be back time and time again

First, call ahead (there is no online system so you do actually have to call) to make sure they are giving tours and at what times (only certain days of the week, last tour usually starts at 1 PM). This mansion is another relic from the gilded age, however this one isn't completely stuck in the past and is a living, breathing arts venue. The last residents (she died in 1956 I think) had no children and left it to Johns Hopkins University with the specification it be used as an art museum. And there is a lot of interesting and attractive art, though it's mostly art by European white men. That's just what the owners collected . . . but our docent told us they are trying to diversify the collection by purchasing pieces by artists of color. The libraries are actually part of the Johns Hopkins collection and students can make appointments to come read them or use them for research. There are some nature books and some Audubon books that are so large that they require two people to move and turn the pages. There is also a reading room for students. It was previously their bedroom, which they didn't want displayed. There are some fun little quirky rich people things (if you dissociate from today's capitalistic hell). A 23K gold bathroom. The second wife who lived in the residence was obsessed with herself and had multiple paintings and busts of herself around the home. And her bathtub was surrounded by mirrors, including a mirror on the ceiling. A bowling alley that was turned into a display space for all their expensive artificacts. A lot of Tiffany glass. Antiquities. My admission was 10 dollars with a AAA discount. I think regular admission is 12 dollars.

There is plenty of parking as it's a bit away from the main Johns Hopkins campus. Our tour guide was really knowledgeable and explained a lot about each room and answered all of our questions. There are a lot of beautiful and unique objects, even though unfortunately photograph isn't allowed in the good rooms. The sheer amount of books they owned and how they present them is pretty inspiring. The Garrett's having their own performance/stage area is pretty unique, and you can even rent the space out if desired. At the end, there's a great display of their Asian art collection, and then suddenly you are back in the gift shop where you started, which has some good items. The tour was more than an hour, but it was really interesting, and all the employees were excited to answer questions, so you could see their passion. It's a great tour and worth doing if in Baltimore.

My printer was down and I had to have them quickly so, I knew I could do that here. I dealt with two librarians who were very helpful. You can't just print directly to a printer. Once you print the items you want, you'll head to another computer, log on there, and your documents will be in a que waiting to be printed. You can choose color or black and white, then print. The first 20 pages each day are free to print. Cool! The computers were packed. Luckily I found one that was available, but keep that in mind. It was a calm, welcoming environment. They also have security on-site. That made me curious, but I suppose it's better to have them there and not need them than need them and not have them.
